Danger, Witty Dialogue & Scourching Romance - A MASTERPIECE!
In the mood for reading a beautifully written romance? Then look no more. Till Dawn Tames The Night is a MASTERPIECE of a romance. One of the finest ever written.

She quickly seizes this chance and boards a ship for Jamaica. Little does she know that another has also boarded. Someone who seeks the legendary emerald - The Star of Aran. Aurora's legacy . . .

Vashon is a ruthless privateer with a notorious reputation. A past treachery has shaped him into a hard man. He inspires fear in men and lust in countless women. He is a man to be reckoned with, a formidable enemy if ever crossed. He seeks the legendary emerald for it once belonged to his father. He knows who had stolen it long ago and who now knows where it is hidden.

He believes that Aurora knows where the emerald is. He is quite ruthlesss into achieving his goal. He tries intimidation to pry the knowledge out of her. When that fails, he tries seduction. Yet once passion is unleashed it is hard to control. Despite his hardness, he is drawn to Aurora even though he tries so desperately to remain indifferent. Aurora is unlike the other women he has known. She proves her loyalty to Vashon. A loyalty he is afraid to believe in. That action so selflessly given, seals his fate. She inflames him with her innocence and beauty, smashing through his cold indifference. Until he is mad with the desire to possess her.

Yet danger awaits as an evil villain plots Vashon's demise. Will Aurora's love finally set Vashon free from his past? Or will he lose everything in his quest for revenge?

Meagan McKinney is an incredibly gifted writer. She graced onto this story everything needed to keep the reader enthralled. I did not want it to end!! Without a doubt, Till Dawn Tames The Night is a KEEPER!!!!

Absolute masterpiece!
While I am a great McKinney fan, this in my opinion, is her very best book. The story gripped me from the beginning. While I loved both the hero and heroine, I wished Vashon was a little less harsh and a little more compassionate. This book is full of descriptive atmospheres and Vashon is dark and mysterious. An excellent tale, full of emotion and feeling. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes serious, full-bodied romances.

Where is my Vashon!
This was one of the first romance books I ever read, and I think it truly shaped the man I'm searching for. If I ever find my Vashon I would love it. The descriptive scenery is beautiful, and the characters are so real...right down to Flossie and Issac! I lost my copy in a flood, and Amazon found one for me THANK YOU THANK YOU! I will cherish this book forever, because it truly a work of art. (p.s. my son's name will be Brenden Vashon whenever I have him, that's how much the book influenced me!) If you get a chance to read this, prepare to be taken to far off lands and be included in a wonderful tale of love comes thru no matter what! >^..^<

This is the first book in the Matched in Montana series. Reporter Jacquelyn Rousseu was born with a silver spoon in her mouth, but she was determined to work hard and prove her worth. The towns highest regarded citizen and matchmaker wanted Jacquelyn to ride horseback through dangerous mountains to write her story with the help of popular rodeo hunk AJ Clayburn. AJ is only agreeing out of a sense of loyalty, but that does not mean that he is happy about this adventure. AJ views Jacquelyn as an uptight princess and has no intention of making this trip easy for her. Unfortunately, weather turns bad and they have several close calls. The passion ignites between the two of them. They are either bound to fall madly in love or kill each other before they return home. This story is fast paced and filled with both adventure and passion.

Honest to goodness action and romance
If you like your men hot and dangerous, then you'll love The Lawman Meets His Bride. Quinn is a man who is itching to clear his good name and Constance the woman he pratically kidnapped at gunpoint. It just gets stranger from there. But that's the way I like it. And I'm sure you will too. This book is a great read.

Only okay...
I am trying to figure out how people gave this book a 5-star review. It held my interest, but that's about the best thing I can say. The heroine was completely "wishy washy" and her actions and words completely conflicted with her feelings about Ivan. In addition, I felt there was very little romance or passion in this book. Ivan and Lissa had very few "moments" together and when they were in scenes together, they spent them doing and saying hateful things. Finally, the ending of this book was so abrupt, I wondered why I read the whole thing.

excellent
This is probably the best romance novel I've ever read. Ivan is the perfect brooding hero.

This novel does an excellent job of creating a sense of place. Most romances that I read mention the time the story is supposed to take place (american west, regency) and then the story might as well be in a modern setting. This story actually creates regency england and maintains that throughout the story. In addition, this book has some of the best written dialogue I've seen in a romance novel.

A Keeper
This is one of my favorite Meagan McKinney novels. It would appear, from reading a synopsis of the book, that you've read this plot more than once. You know, the plotline which involves the tortured and cruel lord of the manor and the sweet and innocent creature who redeems him. And, that is the plot. But the writing is beautiful and the hero and heroine who have both experienced pain and disillusionment at a young age are worth cheering for. The tortured hero -Ivan - might be a little over the top and the sweet heroine - Lissa - might play a little too hard to get, but it's a good read nevertheless. The descriptions the "upstairs downstairs" activities in an English manor are interesting too, as are the descriptions of English village life in the 1850s. I recommend this, Lions and Lace, and Fair is the Rose of this genre also by Meagan McKinney.

A Must Read!
I just finished reading this book! I loved every second of it. A must read for those who have read Ms. McKinney's works. I ran out a bought another! Keep up the good work!

Perfect for people who love dark, Gothic romances
If you miss the Gothics, this book has all the elements that you're missing. But be warned that it has a few elements that most Gothics didn't have. Sex; real spookiness; and a hero who is so jaded that he tries to corrupt the heroine.

Yet for all his dark deeds, Damien has good qualities. He takes care of his developmentally disabled brother, and unlike many so-called "heroes," he never rapes the heroine. In his own twisted way (boy is he twisted), he is honorable.

NOTE: That this book is definitely not for everyone. Some people loathe this book because of its hero. Some so-called dark heroes merely "flirt" with the dark side -- Damien pretty much has a full-fledged affair with the dark side.

Anne M. Marble Reviewer, All About Romance

Hard to keep reading, hard to stop
I was scared to keep reading this book, but was scared to stop and not find out how it ended. Even reading the villan's name, Ursula Pole, now chills me to the bone three months later. The romance is good and the story draws you in and doesn't let go until it's over. A good read for romance/mystery fans.

Good quick read
Normally I don't read Silhouette or Harlequin, but since Meagan McKinney is one of my favorite authors, I couldn't resist.

Eight years earlier Honor fell in love with her next door neighbor Mark. After one wonderful summer together, Mark's parents suddenly were killed and he had to leave to run his "multi-billion" dollar company (what do you expect??). After Mark left Honor realized she was pregnant. Unable to get word to Mark that he was about to become a father, Honor gave birth to a daughter, Lockey.

Now eight years later Mark is back. He'd wants Honor back, but can Honor trust him with her secret?

Overall, this was a pretty good book. I read it in one day, about an hour and a half to two hours. I love most of Ms. McKinney's books, mostly her older books.

A KEEPER for a second read
[from the back of the book] THE LOVER SHE COULDN'T FORGET.......Honor Shaw had never forgotten the passionate, sultry summer she'd spent in the arms of golden boy Mark Griffin. But then their time together ended, and maybe it was for the best. [but it certainly wasn't planned]
He was in line to inherit his family's fortune. They'd both known all along it was strictly a summer romance.......[only their hearts disagreed]
Now Mark had unexpectedly returned home and seemed determined to recapture the love they'd shared. [against all odds]
Honor knew she owed him the truth, but would Mark's desire for her be enough once he discovered the secret she'd kept for eight long years? ************
Ah, good, another woman who remained true to her love. But could Mark get past his feelings of rejection and betrayal. Honor betrays her love for Mark in doing whatever was necessary to insure his safety. He unknownly brought danger to their little country side. This book is recommended for an intrigueing read. Not heavy to read.

AMAZING!
Lions and Lace is an amazing romance novel. From start to finish Meagan McKinney writes and conveys such strong feelings of innocense, betrayal, love, confusion and lust... and not necessarily in that order. The hero, Trevor Sheridan is a brooding, dark and unforgiving character. But behind this facade, he is just looking for love and acceptance. When he meets the New York socialite Alana Van Alen, it's not only a case of convenient revenge on the Knickerbockers of the NY elite but also a struggle against the magnetic attraction. It is through their hurt and mutual pain that you grow the know these characters and even hope that they overcome the obstacles and recognize the love between them. It's an emotional roller coaster.. Highly recommend. If you're looking for a light hearted sweet romance... this isn't the book for you. But if you want a book to touch your soul... this is it.

Breathtaking - a journey into a new world.
Lions and Lace is a book to read over and over - I myself have read it three times, and do plan on reading it again! It speaks of a tough, independent woman - Alana Van Alen - thrown up against the devil of all devils, Trevor Sheridan. I laughed, cried, and squealed with delight while reading this masterpiece. Meagan McKinney has done it again!

Wonderfully Written Story
I read A Man to Slay Dragons and was looking for another book by this author. A clerk at a used bookshop recommended and then located this book for me. I was pretty tired of this genre with some exceptions; this book changed that. I wish there were more well-written historical romances like it. First, what makes it different is that it is a historical romance that is set in New York at the dawn of the Gilded Age--not the usual romance novel setting of England, Scotland, or the wild west. I learned some history about New York that I was unaware of while reading an enjoyable love story. Secondly, the cast of characters are interesting and developed, not the usual one-dimensional sidekicks, hero, and goody-two-shoes heroine. The story is centered around Trevor Sheridan, a self-made American millionare with roots in Ireland and a chip on his shoulder about his Irish birth, and Alana Sheridan, a New York knickerbocker, who moves in the first circles and hides a tragic family history. Trevor marries Alana as an act of revenge against the knickerbocker society that shuns him and his self-made wealth. Outside of their marrage, it appears that Alana broke tradition by marrying "outside" her class in a love match. The reality is that Trevor will never let her forget the reason for their marriage--revenge against her and all of high-society. How she convinces him that her love is real and that they belong together makes for a wonderful story. The main story is nicely assisted by two subplots involving Trevor's brother, Eagan, and sister, Mara, who also find love in this story. And, Alana's sister's story is continued in Fair as the Rose. A sequel that is just as good as the original.

Since reading Lions and Lace, I've made a point to read all her books, including McKinney's latest book, Lady Moonlight, which revisits this era and involves Trevor Sheridan as a possibly distant relative of the heroine. Unfortunately, although it wasn't a bad read, it wasn't up to this standard. These books by McKinney are as magical as Lions and Lace: A Man to Slay Dragons, When Angels Fall, The Ground She Walks Upon, and Fair is the Rose. Her other books have been readable but not as smooth and developed as these.

Great but not satisfying
Wow, I guess I'm the only reviewer who was not pleased with this novel. When I first stated reading 'A Man to Slay Dragons', I was very impressed and had a hard time putting it down. I thought the idea of a vigilante victim's group using a twisted version of Shirley Jackson's 'The Lottery' to accomplish their goals was original, fresh, and intriguing. The characters of Liam and Claire started off normal for romance-novel fare and all in all I was happy, assured that this would be a delicious read.

This ended up falling into disappointment as I continued into further chapters. After a while, Claire's fear and nagging insecurities about Liam became increasingly irritating. A lot of times I felt like shaking the character and saying 'would you hurry up and trust him?' Not to mention that her relentless feministic dogma was making me almost want the character to die. I mean, I'm a woman and I'm all for woman power but I mean, come on! Liam, however, was no better either. Half the time I had no idea what he was talking about nor what point he was trying to make. Not to mention his ending up as being a rather chauvinistic jerk.

I also felt the resolution was way too quick and clean cut. In the end I had the feeling that these characters would never remain together. They also seemed to change their opinions and characteristics on a dime. By the end I could not help but feel like these were not the same characters I had started reading about in the beginning. Not even to start in on the unresolved questions, such as whether Claire kept her job, if Phyllis was ever caught and punished (which, from what I read, it seemed that she was not and I found this solution to be wrong), and what, all in all, truly happened to Zoe's sister.

Overall I found this novel to be sadly disappointing.

Fairy-Tale Quality
Claire is a high powered New York attorney in self-imposed exile from her family in New Orleans, unable to come to grips with the murder of her sister and its impact on her family. She becomes entangled with a secret society which uses a lottery to offer the victims of crime their opportunity for revenge. Her life intersects with that of Liam, an FBI agent assigned to investigate the revenge ring, and a sadistic serial killer who collects souveniers from his victims. Against the backdrop of carnival New Orleans, the reader is treated to a memorable tale of good and evil, love and hate, romance and homicidal sexual obsession.

This is my favorite of Ms. McKinney's books; different from her earlier works, it's not at all historical in the classical romance sense, but down to earth and populated with characters with the strengths and flaws of real people in contemporary times. As a result, it moves faster and with freshness. Good and evil; black, white, and shades of gray; love, lust, ugliness - it has it all, crafted a little like a modern day fairy tale. I recommend it highly!

Not disappointed
When I first received this book I was disappointed because I wanted a historical novel. Ms. McKinney writes wonderful historical novels, and I wanted more of the same. I was not disappointed after reading. This book was a page turner! The hero in the story was a little cliche, but I overlooked that. Otherwise it would have been a 6 star!

Fair is the Rose by Meagan McKinney (is more than Fair)
Action packed, mysterious heroine, sullen and brooding but confident gunslinging special agent hero, and a 'whole pasel of outlaws and villains' make this 1875 western a real winner!

Christalbel Van Alen has escaped a mental institute and is being pursued by a relative who wants her dead! She, the only witness to a murder, disguises herself as a widow and is traveling to find the smallest ghost town in the west to create a new life for herself. However, her dreams are disturbed when her stagecoach is captured by outlaws and the prisoners are taken captive for ransom.

There Christal comes face to face with a real life gunfighter, an enemy whom also becomes her saviour. MacCauley Cain.

But Christal runs again when she feels threatened of her past being discovered and true to life, her past finds her. If you enjoy outlaws, gunslingers, bounty hunters, saloon girls and cowbows (the genre) and mysterious heroines or heroes, then you'll love Fair is the Rose. Fair is the Rose keeps you turning page after page and on the edge of your seat.

Personal note: I admit I own tons of Meagan McKinney's novels purchased from 'dime stores' and have never read any, until I read 'Fair is the Rose' and I began searching through my hundreds of romance novels to find ALL of McKinney's writings. She quickly became one of my favorites. But one thing I noticed in 'Fair is the Rose', the heroine never bathed! Talk about scent of a woman!

A BOOK THAT WILL TAKE YOU AWAY
From the synopsis, the book may sound sappy, but it isn't. The hijacking and the events that took place left you breathless, and when they find each other again -quite interesting. I didn't give it 5 stars because the ending could of been better.

Overall, if you want a book that takes you back to the 1800's, with a runaway, murder, and some outlaws thrown in, this book is for you.
