good book but old
I found this book to be helpful. The thing that I like most about this book is that it uses simple, easy to understand illustrations that I haven't seen used in other books like this one. The book is kind of old being published in 1977 but I would recommend this book as a first for those interested in hypnosis. Many of the later books of today cover the same subjects and I believe copy straight from this book. If you already have a newer book that you are satisfied with, this probably isn't for you unless you are looking to expand your knowledge of things you already have an understanding of. This is not for self-hypnosis, this is for hypnotising your friends or someone other than yourself and would probably give you very limited insight on self hypnosis.

I was and still am totally amazed!
Since I was a child I have always been fascinated by the power of suggestion implanted by hypnotists. Such a feat to make someone believe they're of the opposite sex, think everyone's naked, etc. I have longed to learn how to hypnotize people for the LONGEST time and finally, thanks to this book, I can! It's amazingly simple and quick to learn. I am so amazed at the powers I behold now! It's been said that the pen is mightier than the sword; now, my friend, the ability to TALK is mightier than the pen! If you've ever wanted to hypnotize anyone (like the outrageous stuff seen on Howard Stern's show) get this book now! You'll Love It! Take my word for it!

Professional Stage Hypnotism is a great book
This book is great! I never thought there would be such a book for a aspiring stage hypnotist like myself. I recommend everyone intrested in stage hypnotism buy this book!

It's hard not to be personal about this.... He is the master
Ormond McGill is truly the Dean of American Hypnotist. His knowledge about the subject is probably only matched by a rare few. The inside book jacket talks about this being "the most extensive and comprehensive work ever produced on stage hypnotism." I think this is an understatement. This a great work on the subject of hypnosis. One of the things that truly make Ormond McGill a leader in the field is his ability and desire to teach others. Having recently (last weekend) attended a lecture by him as well as reading his book, this man is truly incredible. At 88, he is still exploring new areas of hypnosis. While not intended as a manual for hypnotherapy, I am sure that many will continue to learn new things each time we read this book.

Simply... an E N C Y C L O P E D I A!
This is a must buy encyclopedia not only for those who are interested in Stage Hypnotism!

The contents of this book are very rich as follows: 1. Part One is very helpful to all who want to know, understand, practice hypnotism. It helps you: a. understand hypnotism with its characteristics and theories. b. teaches how use the power of suggestion, its rules, timing, repetition, delivery & compounding. c. learn about the hypnotic powers of your body and its magnetic energy. And this part becomes a test for you to believe in yourself first before practicing on others! d. with full details of step by step 90+ methods of Hypnotism that includes pictures.

This part is very entertaining, easy to read and can be read according to your interests in each chapter's subject. And you do not need to have any idea about hypnotism to learn it. All of this comes in 278 pages.

2. But Part Two comes in 290 pages and is mainly for those who want to perform Hynotism in professional shows. And it includes several complete hypnotism shows, effects, entertainment, secrets, tips, openings, routines, ideas... of professional stage hypnotists.

After going through this rich book, I say the only key you need to make this book work for you is believing in yourself nothing more!

I cannot recommend renting this book, because you won't get enough from it that way. It's a must buy E N C Y C L O P E D I A for future reference.

The Best How To On the Market
This is by far the best book written on stage hypnotism. I learned stage hypnosis and created a career for Ormond's earlier version. But this books goes well beyond the first. Congratulations! Thank you for my wonderful career!

Poorly written. Misleading title.
This book contains some good information, but is is poorly written and poorly organized. There are lots of spelling and grammatical mistakes, making me wonder if the author is not a native English speaker. She also channeled some of the book from her spirit guides, so maybe they don't spell so good in the spirit world. In any case, she should have had a good editor. There are much better books on hypnosis available, so I would look elsewhere rather than buying this book.

I am not even sure this book deserves it's title
This is one of the worst books ever written. I am not even sure it can be described as a book on hypnosis. If I have to put a title to this book, it would be "An anthology of an unassuming human being". Please do not buy this book if you want to learn anything about hypnosis. It has nothing to do with hypnosis, except part you with your money. I have read virtually all the major texts on hypnosis. Stick to Ormond McGill's books on the subject if you want to learn anything. Anyone giving more than one star to this book is basically being untruthful.

Misled
This book isn't very practical. The information it provides is very airy-fairy and not very rooted. My biggest gripe about the book is that it teaches religious undertones to what I believe to be a purely scientific subject. I don't really want to know about my spiritual guides - I'm not the type to buy into that stuff. That being said, the book does cover the physiology related to hypnosis quite well. I suppose I bought the book with the wrong idea in mind - the title conveys to me a book detailing how to make money and become happy practicing hypnosis as a profession, whereas the book is actually about making money and being happy through the use of hypnosis on yourself.

The Secrets of Hypnotizing Women
Published in Paperback by Creativity Unlimited (01 December, 1999)
Authors: Shelley Stockwell and Ormond McGill
Amazon base price: $19.95

A decent book, but far from the best available
This book gives some basic hypnotic techniques, as well as some decentadvice for talking to women. It will not enable you to hypnotize awoman into having sex with you, or otherwise hypnotize her against her will (these are impossibilities in the world of hypnosis, and no book can teach you them). While the book does offer some sound techniques, the price is a bit much for the 91 pages. There are far better and more comprehensive books available, many for less money. If you are looking to learn how to hypnotize others, there are a few books I could recommend as much more worth reading. Pretty much every thing in this book is covered in McGill's "New Encyclopedia of Stage Hypnotism", which also includes a lot more and is worth the hefty price tag. Svengali's "Fun With Hypnosis" is also a much better, more comprehensive book for less money. A great book for beginners is Hewitt's "Hypnosis for Beginners"....

Disappointing.
I was looking forward to reading this book because I rate his encyclopedia of stage hypnotism as one of the best books on general hypnosis I've seen. However, it contains little of real interest and I found it very disappointing. There is no attempt to find an original synthesis of hypnotic and meditative techniques but rather elementary instructions on self-hypnosis combined with a program of scripts composed of rather corny direct verbal suggestions of supposedly mystical experiences.
