One of the best books by Lurlene McDaniel!!
In this book Desi is jealous of her sister,Val, and the attention that she gets from their mother. Because Desi's main interest is science and biology, working at ChildCare is the best thing for her. And when Desi meets Alicia, a 5 month old beautiful baby girl, she falls in love with her. Desi has always known that Alicia is H.I.V positive but on Christmas Day something unexpected happens. Read the book to find out what happens in this fast paced well written book. I loved this book. It was the first book I had ever read by Lurlene McDaniel and I got hooked. I cried the first time I read it, and I still cry when I read it. (I have read it like 10 times!) Now I own all but 3 books written by Lurlene McDaniel and have read all of her books. Keep up the good work!

One of the best books I have ever read--a real tearjerker.
Baby Alicia is Dying is an awesome book about a young girl who volenteers to work in a home for HIV positive babies. She finds a special place in her heart for a young child who, through no fault of her own, is born HIV positive. This girl explores the ups and downs of baby Alicia's disease. The lesson in the end is an important one. She learns that things happen to people that is not their fault. There will always be a special place in my heart for baby Alicia

Great!!! One of the best books ever written!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I loved this book. It was very sad. Little Baby Alicia, who has been abandoned by her teenage mother,is HIV positive. When Desi, a ninth grader, who feels unloved by her mother, goes to work at Childcare, she and Alicia grow very close to each other. When Alicia gets very sick and develops AIDS, Desi's world is torn apart. I am not going to spoil the book by saying what happened next. You have to read the book. You will cry at the end of it. I cried a lot. This was the first Lurlene McDaniel book that I read and I am definitely going to read more of them. Baby Alicia Is Dying is one of my favorite books.

It was a Tear Jerker, but a excellent book!!!
I recently had the absolute pleasure of reading "Don't Die,My Love" by the astounding author Lurlene McDaniel. The book is so captivating and sad that i couldn't put it down.... sort of a Romeo and Juliet but with a few switches. Lurlene uses her wonderful creative mind to show two people , very much in love , that face a life threatening medical problem that tears them apart. As i was reading i started to feel as if i was the girl in the story, i was the one losing the one person that meant more to her than her own life... I hate to admit it but i was crying my eyes out by the last 50 pages of the book ... I used to not be very into romance novels like this... i used to be more of a R.L Stine person but now that i've had the chance to read some of Lurlene's work I will never go back to cheap horror again! So HURRY UP!! get your hands on this book as fast as you can, YOU WON'T BE SORRY!!!

Touching Story of Love and Death
After reading this book...it's all I can think about. A real tear-jerker. I bawled my eyes out from the time of Luke's death til after I finished reading the story. The chemistry between Julie and Luke was so powerful and romantic. Why do bad things always have to happen to good people?! This is one of those books that I'll never throw away. I keep it on my night stand and still look back to it. This was the first book I've ever read by Lurene McDaniel and I'm hoping to find others just as good as Don't Die, My Love. "Luke was gone. But he was waiting for her somewhere. Somewhere, on the other side of all her tomorrows."

It is about a boy named Luke that gets Hodgkin's lymphoma .
It is about a boy Luke and a girl Julie that are in love since 6th grade.Luke is a handsome football player and Julie is a pretty girl. Then Luke starts to feel sick so he and Julie go to the doctor. The test results are back and they find out that luke has Hodgkin's lymphoma. Julie goes through many different experiences with Luke and then he .......................... you have to read to find out! I think Lurlene did a very good job on this book. So far I've read Don't Die My Love, I'll Be Seeing You, Six Months To Live, and I Want To Live. I start reading one of her books and I can't stop!

One of her best yet!
Saying this book was good would be a vast understatment. Unfortunately, it seems to be the end of the One Last Wish series, though, and I sincerely hope this isn't really the case - there's still a lot Lurlene could do with this group of characters. She brings together characters from ALL of the one last wish books, back to Jenny House, as it's being rebuilt.. I won't say any more than that, but, if you've liked ANY of her books before, READ THIS ONE!

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
in my opinion, Reach For Tomorrow is Lurlene McDaniel's best book.It was great how she put in Eric, Megan, Sarah, and Morgan from the other one last wish books. The only OWL character missing was Dani from Mourning Song. I hope Lurlene writes a sequel that describes what happens to Josh and katie now that they're married, if meg and morgan stay together, and what happens to the other characters. YOU GOTTA READ ABOUT THIS FABULOUS JENNY HOUSE REUNION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My very personal favorite OLW book!
This book is my favorite in all books in general. Jenny House, as you know (if you read this series, of course), was burned last year. It is now rebuilt and as beautiful as the first one. Megan Charnel was invited to stay in the Jenny House, including Eric Lawrence and Morgan Lancester, who are also new. The old people were Katie, Lacey, and Chelsea. Sarah is also new this year. This book is so sad because it's the last book in the series. It's partly sad, but sort of funny. There are romance in here too. So catch this book. I wished Ms. McDaniel could make another sequel followed this book!!!

Can't Put It Down...
Lifted Up By Angels has to be one of the best books I've read in quite a while. I've read several books by Lurlene McDaniel, my favorite author; and this book seems to be one of them that really sticks out in my mind. I love Lurlene's writing technique and I think she does a really good job portraying the feelings of the characters who come down with different illnesses in her stories. With my grandfather recently having passed away from cancer, I feel as though I can relate with characters in Lurlene's books. I like this story, specifically, for three reasons. As I mentioned, one of them being the fact that I can relate to the characters. Secondly, I really like when I can enjoy reading a book and learn a lot from it; in this case Amish ways. The third reason being...I like romance novels. In this story, Leah has a hard time seperating lust, love, and what's right vs. wrong. I definitely recommend reading this book!

I just couldn't put this book down, not that I'd want to!
I think that this novel is one of Lurlene's best. I just love the Ethan and Leah sega. I've also read and bought many of her other books and have enjoyed them just as much. This is a touching forbidden love story with many other interesting "complications". It made me become extremely interested in the differences of lifestiles of the Amish and the English. The changes of lifestyles is quite different, with one group longing to know what life would be like in the other group's world. I really enjoy the characters, especially Ethan and Rebeckah. Ethan reminds me of a really sweet guy that I've had the pleasure to know for a couple years, and Rebeckah reminds me of a cute little girl I babysit for named Holly. Hi Holly! Hi Tim! Don't get embarassed on me now, alright. Anyways, I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good cry.

The Best Book i've ever read, very sad yet romantic.
I thought that this squeal was the best squeal i have read! McDaniel suprised me by even writting a squeal. I could not put this book done. She makes you feel as if you are one of the characters in the book. It's a sad book but all in the same it is Romantic. This is one book i could read 10 times and not be able to put it down. i think it is sad that Rebekah died in this one,but i guess Mcdaniel was showing her reader's (us) that life really isnt here forever so be with the ones you love and tell them what they mean to you before it's to late! I cant wait till Mcdaniel comes out with the 3rd book"When Angels close my eyes" I'll be waitting for it!! I recommend this book to anyone it is truley the best book i have read in a long while. If you havent read the first one get it and read it first it's "angle's watching over me" it is great too. This squeal was wonderfuly writting.

A very touching story by Lurlene McDaniel
The story begins when April Lancaster is in the hospital for constant severe headaches. She meets a man named Mark Gianni, who has cystic fibrosis. He immediately likes April when he first sets eyes on her. But April is hesitant because she already has a boyfriend, the soccer coach from her school. Meanwhile, April learns that she has a reoccurrence of what happened to her five years ago, an enlarging brain tumor. She undergoes treatment while seeing Mark more and more. She goes out with him to restaurants, to the car races that he drives in, etc. They fall deeper in love as time goes on. Soon, April finds out that her tumor is dormant but the treatment hasn't shrunk it at all. She is deeply upset but Mark is the only one who can help her. He asks April to marry him and she agrees. But will their dream of living a "normal" life together come true? Read this very touching and well-written story to find out. It was one of the best books I have read.

Great book!
My fiance has cystic fibrosis so this book hit close to home. It's a very realistic story about living with CF.
April Lancaster is hesitant a first about dating Mark Gianni because he's sick. But dispite it all she fall in love with him. To everyone's dispproval they want to get married. When Mark gets into a horrible car accident that complicates the CF, him and April's unknowing future becomes even cloudier. April refuses to leave her dearly beloved. Read to find out how April deals with it and what happens to this heaven sent couple.
My fiance and I were touch. It almost tells the story of our loving relationship. And the horrors and uncertainies of living with a medical condition. It's a great book and will truly touch all who read it.

Don't Die, My Love
This book was such and inspiration to me. I read it for the first time when I was 15 years old. This book was the first of Lurlene McDaniel's book that I read. Since then I have read 25 of them. Don't Die, My Love is the touching story of a Girl in High School, Julie, who is madly in love with a handsome football player, Luke. They do everything together and then one day Luke is diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease, a type of cancer. Julie does everything in her power to make sure that Luke has the best medical treatment possible. You must read this book to find out how it all turns out for Julie and Luke. It's the best!!

The Girl That Death Left Behind- By Lurlene McDaniel
9-10-99I just read this book. I just finished reading it yesterday. If you buy this book you will not put it down until you are done. It makes you feel like you are in the story. I've read 13 of Lurlene's books all in a row. They are all good. It is a book full of suspense, and most people can relate to what she feels like. Lurlene writes great books. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

The Girl That Death Left Behind
Lurlene McDaniel wrote and inspirational book. It shows that no matter how hard life's trial are if you have friends and family who care about you, you can survive almost anything. When rating this book on a scale from one to five I would give it a six. I truly enjoyed it and I wouldn't mind reading more of her books. The book is about how Beth's entire world was turned upside down. A fatal car accident claims the life of everyone in her family. She must now leave all her friends from where she lives and start her life all over again. She knows her Aunt Chammile will take care of her but, it's her snobby cousin Terri who she minds. She is left to deal with the pain of being a survivor and the memories that will haunt her. Can she deal with the pain, and leave death behind?

I luuuuurrrrrrvvvvveeeeddd it!
It was wonderful and I think anyone out there who enjoys books about death, friendship, family, tragedy and even suspense should read this. It's quite sad sometimes, and you're just about ready to bring out all the tears and release the floodgates then the mood changes and gets you smiling in relief and in happiness again. I read this two years ago and I always mark it down as MY FAV. BOOK of all times. You should definitely read it. You seem to be watching a movie and then suddenly you feel as if you're really there, standing right with Beth and behind Terri and you are so engrossed in the book all the characters seem to be like your friends, your family. It is a truly wonderful book and in my opinion, you should definitely read it.

Letter to the Author
Dear Lurlene McDaniel,

You have been writing inspirational novels about young teenagers facing life-altering situations. All your novels are hard-hitting and realistic, but also leaves readers like me with inspiraton and hope. One of your books that I've read is called, Six Months to Live. I enjoyed that book very much. The reason that I enjoyed this book is because you wrote the book in such a way that it influenced me to read and not stop. From your book I understood that the main character Dawn, who was thirteen had leukemia and she didn't have much time to survive from this illness. When Dawn goes to the childerns hospital a girl name Sandy who was going to be her room-mate had cancer too. They both suffered together to fight the cancer by giving each other hope. When they became friends and after they each had to go back to their town Dawn recived a letter from Sandy's parents saying, "We lost our beloved Sandy yesterday, 10 A.M. She died peacefully-no pain. We are flying her home to West Virginia for burial. Package for Dawn to follow. The Chandles." That was the most sad letter and it really influnced me to read the book to see if Sany is really death or alive. I just loved your book and it was all based on a real life situation.

Sincerely, Mariam Semerdzhyan

NL-S approved book
Lurlene McDaniel's book, Six Months to Live, is one of the best books I have ever read about dealing with the diagnosis of leukemia.

McDaniel did a wonderful job expressing the feelings of the main character, Dawn Rochelle. It was easy for me to relate to Dawn because she is in my age group. She was diagnosed with cancer when she was 13. The setting is in a rural area. The overall writing was easy to read and made you feel like you were a part of Dawn's life. She was a strong willed person who was not going to give into her disease.

The plot of the book is about teenage girl fighting for her life through an irreversible disease. Dawn went through tough times and eventually was dismissed from the hospital. In the summer, Dawn went to a cancer camp. Kids with all types of cancer attended the camp and had two-weeks of games and fun. The camp helped her forget her problems and have a good time. The camp interested me because the writer made it sound so beautiful and perfect.

The main lesson of Six Months to Live is that in order to overcome hard times, you need to work hard and have faith in yourself. Dawn was not willing to give into her problems and give up in the fight for life. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a good source of inspiration.

Truly the best book I have ever read in my entire life.
In this book, 13-year-old Dawn Rochelle is diagnosed with lukemia. For three months she has to deal with the pain of chemotherapy and it's side affects, and being treated like she is a walking germ by what she thought were her friends. But through these pains she also meets Sandy, her roomate, who is also a 13-year-old diagnosed with lukemia. Together the girls become best friends, and make memories, good and bad. Finally, both Dawn and Sandy are in remission, and they go to cancer camp, a camp that is made for teens with cancer. They have a wonderful time, but when Dawn returns home, she gets terrible news that Sandy has had a relapse. She has been taken to a hospital in Mexico, where the hospitals do not use the chemotherapy treatment. The result of this is the tragic death of Sandy. A truly heart-warming, tear-jerking book that will thrill anyone of all ages. -Mary Elizabeth Baleha

The way love is supposed to be
I absolutely love this book. This is one of the later books I read by Lurlene, but I really loved it. The way everything in the book is should make everyone today in modern life look at the way it's supposed to be. In this book, a young teenage girl who has a facial disfiguration who is in the hospital and meets a teenage boy who lives near her who has lost his site in an accident with unproperly used chemicals and they fall in love, with him not even knowing if she has outer beauty, only looking knowing about her inner beauty. Her physical state didn't matter to him even when he gained his site back because he'd fallen in love with her. That is how I think love should be. I dont' think that people should look on the outside, much like they do now, but at what's on the inside. When you are making friends you don't really look on the outside, why should you when you are looking for a boyfriend or girlfriend? This whole point makes the book one of the best I've ever read and I would suggest to anyone who absolutely loves the meaning of true love to read this book.

This book was one of the best books I've ever read.
I'll Be Seeing You Lurlene McDaniel "After I'm out of the hospital he'll want to have nothing to do with me..." That's exactly what Carly Mattea, a young 16 year old girl, thought. She had been admitted into the hospital with a broken leg that needed sugery. Carly meets a boy, (who can't see for the time being), her age and falls in love. Little does he know that when Carly was young which left one side of her face deformed. Carly thought that as soon as she got out of the hospital Kyle Westin would want to have nothing to do with her. Now that she's out of the hospital and he can see again Kyle wants to meet her. This book pulls you in and makes you want to keep reading. Lurlene McDaniel, the author, hits you with a surprise ending! To find out what happens with Carley and Kyle...you'll have to read the book for yourself. I recommend this book to anyone who likes interesting stories that make you want to read more.

The Boy Who Lived Without Seeing
In this book I believe you will find it very interesting. It teaches you about the importance of life. Carley is the main character. She was in an accident and her face was damamged and she got a broken leg. Later a guy named Kyle, who was burned in a science experiment,is suffering from depression and pain. Carley and Kyle become good friends after Carley's one and only friend from the hospital pusses her into making friends. Carley becomes desprately in love and will do anything to win his heart. The one problem is she does not want him to see her face. The whole time Kyle has his bandages on, she lies to cover up her ugliness. Will Kyle ever get his bandages off? Will Carley ever get her wish? Will Carley ever get to change her apperance? Find out when you read I'll Be Seeing You.

With this book, people can now have a better understanding of the Amish's way of living, and the fictional world of angels. This novel could be read by anybody, but especially by people with an age range of 10 to 15. It's a pretty easy book to read. The story isn't really interesting to me, because from the beginning of the reading, I knew what the end would be. However it teaches a lot about Amish people. So this makes the book more exciting. There aren't any illustrations in the book, therefore it helps in imagining the characters the way they were described. Young teenage girl Leah Lewis-Hall, breaks a finger while her mom and "father" are on their honeymoon in Japan. She ends up in the hospital during Christmas, where she meets Rebekah her roommate, as well as Charity and Ethan, Rebekah's siblings. To her surprise, they are all Amish, but have a strange friendship with Leah. This story is mostly about angels and Amish people, with a little bit of romance between Leah and Ethan. A difficult relationship, since Amish people aren't supposed to date "plain" people or "the English". After staying in the hospital for quite a long time, Leah feels pain in her knee. Her doctor bone scans her and discovers she has bone cancer. But Gabriella watches over her and Rebekah, and solves things out. After all, Gabriella was probably an angel.

Angels Watching Over Me
The first and the best book in the trilogy of Leah and Ethan. Sixteen-year old Leah is hospitalized with nothing more wrong with her then a broken finger. Her mother, who has never really seemed to care for her, is away on a honeymoon with her new husband, Neil. Leah feels lonely, but is kept company by the family of her Amish roomate, Rebekah. Rebekah's older brother and sister, Charity and Ethan. As this magical and touching story unfolds they begin to become good friends and Leah learns more about the Amish way of life and their belief in God and angels. Leah also becomes attracted to Ethan. Then she recieves terrifying news about her medicial condition. As Leah tries to deal with the news, her friends are always there for he. It had a wonderful ending but which seemed a little rushed. This book could definetly have done with beng a few chapters longer. But still a great read, though the rest of the trilogy is a let-down.

AnGeLz WaTcHiNg OvEr Me
This book is about an American girl named Leah, whos home alone because her mom is on a honeymoon with her fifth husband. And she ends up breaking her finger. So she goes to the hospital. And they run some tests. And they find out that she has more than just a broken finger. She has cancer. So while her parents are on a honeymoon in Indianaplois. She is in the hospital. But her roomate that is with her is Amish. Her name is Rebekah. And she has a disease. But her brother Ethan and Leah are more than just friends now. But they know that Leah is going to die anyways. But Rebekah thinks of Leah as her siser. They are together a lot. But Ethans dad doesn't like americans because he thinks they are too selfish. But at the beginning when Leah meets these people, they were friends for a really long time. but they never figured this would ever happen. And you have to read the rest for yourself! Its really good!

A shattering addition to a glorious love story
The beautiful sequel to the even better "Til Death Do Us Part" features April shortly after Mark's tragic death from a crash and his cystic fibrosis.

April is still trying to recover from the death of her beloved fiancee, Mark Gianni. Going to the town of St. Croix, she meets a young man named Brandon who begins to fall for her. Though she befriends Brandon, April refuses to go any further, feeling that it would be a betrayal of Mark.

But when April's brain cancer comes out of remission, she knows that she will soon die. But the young man who's fallen in love with her doesn't want to see her die...

This is a heartbreaking story-you feel sorry for both of the characters, April because of her loss, her cancer and her desire not to love again; and Brandon because of the life he and April can't have. Brandon's final scene is so touching and loving that I almost howled.

Forget the usual romances. These books show true love as it really is.

The continuation of Lurlene McDaniel's best story
After finishing Till Death Do Us Part, I loved that story so much I had to read For Better, for Worse, Forever. I finished this book in one day! This continuation of the story begins where Till Death Do Us Part ends, when April lets a balloon fly into the air as a dedication to Mark Gianni, the person she planned to marry but who died after a car accident. April spends months at St. Croix, where she meets another eighteen-year-old, Brandon Benedict. Both April and Brandon have many secrets and unfortunate events in the past years of their lives, and they share most of what is hurting them... all except the fact that April has an illness. They spend most of their time together, until April's headaches and vertigos return. She and her parents leave for New York immediately, without even telling Brandon goodbye face-to-face. Will they meet again while April still has the chance to tell the other person that she loves goodbye? Definitely read both this and Till Death Do Us Part, you won't regret it.

Heart breaking
I just got done with this book and it was absolutely one of the best books I could have ever read by lurlene McDaniel. She is one of the best authors. I read this book in one day and it made me cry so much. I burst into tears with this book. It was one of the greatest sequils to a book I could have ever read. I liked how brandon stuck by April the whole time even though she left him with out saying good bye when she went back to long Island (her home where she grew up) It was sad but yet it makes ya think about life and stuff. But it was amazing how some teen age boy who didn't even know a girl but a few months could care so much for her. I loved it.
