What a great book
The amazing days of abby hayes ( the declaration of independance) is a a great book. This poor girl is trying to prove that she is mature enough to go to a annual festival by herself. Abby normally takes her little brother Alex. Of course Alex is upset. Abby scrubs the tub yet lets the bubbles overflow. Read the book to find out what happenS!!!

The Declaration of Independence
This book is about a girl named Abby Hayes who wants to go to a Fall Festival with her friends. She tries to show her parents how mature she is by cleaning up and doing other jobs. She ends up showing that she is mature and goes to the Fall Festival with her brother and friends.

I recommend this book to girls 6-13. I think this is a great book for all girls . It will help all girls to be mature and self-confident.

The second in a great series
This second book in the Amazing Days of Abby Hayes series is even better than the first. I laughed out loud when I read it, and I'm not in the 9-12-year-old recommended reading range (okay, so I borrowed from someone who was). It's gotten rave reviews from local kids too.

Would you like more or the merrier?
The more Abby Hayes books there are the more of a merrier I
become. In this book Abby has a creative writing assignment to do. With the inspiration with the assignment and Isabel's
finger nail polish Abby does what she wants to do in her room.
Meanwhile Abby is planning a "Hooray it's summer" party and
her SuperSibs fighting Abby does not know how to manage...
And for sure you are going to be laughing!

Abby Hayes!!
This book is one of my favorites! Its about when Ms.Bunder tells them that they have to write about their rooms. When it's time to start for Abby she discovers that her room is to boring. Abby also has to get her parents to let her have a party for all of the fifth grade! But Abby paints her lamp purple and thats it right? WRONG!! See what happens in The More, the Merrier!

Purple Hayes!
This latest book in the Abby Hayes series is about Abby throwing a party for her whole grade and repainting her bedroom. I liked this book alot because I also am re-doing my room. I think Anne Mazer is a really good writer. She makes her characters very interesting and uses lots of descriptive words. I am a big fan of the Abby Hayes series and can't wait for the next book to be published!

The best anthology of its type
The author of the SLJ review is wrong. Terribly, terribly wrong. A cretin, really. This collection is remarkably consistent. The writing is quite fine and the stories, often relatively obscure, offer a huge breadth of theme, tone and subject matter. I've read many collections of this sort with an eye towards teaching them. This is by far the best. Both weak and strong readers can find much to enjoy. All of these writers are top drawer, and these stories selected carefully to fall within the understanding of young adults. This should be a standard text in all schools, libraries, etc.

Excellent starting point for understanding other cultures.
A Walk in My World provides teens with a starting point for understanding other cultures, with a series of short stories by contemporary authors addressing the issues and concerns of teens around the world. From a Chilean boy's writings about his parents' politics to a headstrong girl's alienation from her mother, these are moving stories packing in social as well as cultural revelations.

America Street is one of the best anthologies I've read.
America Street is one of the best multicultural anthologies I've ever read. It shows how the variety in our society can enrich the lives of young people, and it also shows that even with the cultural differences, there are some things that rermain the same for youth everywhere. I would recommend this book for anyone, but especially adolescents and secondary teachers

Amazing Days Of Abby Hayes are sure amazing!
This is one of the best books i have ever read! It shows how abby wants to buy some new roller blades but cant afford them. Some of the things she thinks of for money are pretty funny! Overall this book is THE BEST!

Have Wheels, Will Travel
I have read all the books in the Abby hayes series and love them all. They are easy to make personal connections with and are very realistic. In this one, Abby Hayes has to use SuperSis Eva's old, scuffed up Rollerblades. She has a race with her brother Alex but thanks to the Rollerblades she lost and had to play chess with him. Then she saw perfect Rollerblades in the store window. Will she ever earn enough to get the Rollerblades? You'll have to read the book to find out.

'Amazing Days of Abby Hayes' are GREAT!!!
This and the rest of the Abby Hayes series are amazing! The books are wonderful and very cool. There is one problem though: Anne Mazer (the writer) repeats the same thing over and over. Like about Abby's friend Jessica and how she has asthma. That kind of gets frustrating. But, overall, this book is great!

An excellent book for young girls
Have you ever felt singled out in your family and nobody understands? Well if you do you should read this book. It is a book about a girl around your age, who always thinks she is totally different from the rest of her family. Her name is Abby Hayes. Abby has a dream to be a great soccer player. She also wishes she weren't so different. Abby goes through some struggles in her way to becoming a soccer star. Will she succeed at her dream? Read the book to find out. I think that Anne Mazer did an excellent job on this book. I didn't really like the ending, but all in all this was a 5 star book.

Great Book for 8-12 year olds!
This book is really good.
It's all about Abby Hayes, a girl who tries to make friends, get through school and have fun.
Just your average girl...right?
WRONG!!
She's got a flair for creative writing and she has hopes and dreams of becoming a famous football player someday.
With the support of her family (mum, dad, and 2 sisters) and a little help from her 2 good friends, Jessica and Natalie, she's SURE to succeed!
This is a really good book from ages 8 and above, preferably for girls. This is a book readers can really relate to. The other books in the series are great too!

Great book
I would give the book The Amazing Days of Abby Hayes #1 five stars. My favorite part in the book is when Abby writes in her diary and talks about her life. In her diary she says that she wants to be a soccer player and how her brother is a genius. Anne Mazer the author of the book is a very good writer. She makes the story interesting. When she talks about the characters she makes it sound like they are real people. I love to read her books and I hope you will to.

A great book
This gentle story about a boy's desire to make his room a good home for a salamander is one of our family's favorites. The boy's imagination runs wild as he creates the perfect environment for the salamander - and for himself, as well. This book makes a great bedtime story for parents and children alike.

good story - great pictures!
This is a simple story of a child who finds, beneath the leaves, a bright & lively creature & brings him home where his mother asks him how he'll take care of his newfound friend.

If a picture tells a thousand words then Steve Johnson's speak volumes. Vivid, compelling & so very magical & real, Brian's adventures & dreams fill the pages with the familiar & the whimsical. I loved the bed Brian made for his friend in his nightstand drawer & the moon & stars on his headboard. Unloading leaves with his dump truck & when the salamander peeks out of Brian's bedroom window, oh, you know you've seen that kind of energy, exhileration & anticipation!

A wonderful book of heartwarming visions with a simple, important story to tell about the responsibility & fun of bringing home wild creatures.

Gets a child to think about basic needs of live creatures!
I love how the mother and child in this story interact. When the child wants to keep the salamander he found, the mother (instead of saying "no" or lecturing him about why we don't take creatures out of their natural habitat) asks him questions that require the child to think about what the salamander needs to sleep, eat, play and more. Step by step the boy imagines how he could meet the salamander's needs, yet still keep it in his room, which is now quickly turning into a woodland paradise for his new friend. This is a wonderful story for all children - especially for the ones who desire to bring home live "treasures" from nature to keep in their room!

The Amazing Days Of Abby Hayes #8
If you are looking for a series about girls than I would recommend the series of 'The Amazing Days Of Abby Hayes'. One particular book that I think stands out is #8. In this book Abby is ecxited that it is the last week of school bt once she plans a 'Horray Its Summer' party she thiks that her friends will think that her room is boring and dull. What do you think Abby will do to change her room?
I think that the theme of the book is purple. I think that because that is Abby's favorite color and that also has to do with what Abby does to her room.
I would recommend this book to you because it makes me laugh and feel happy. I would mainly recommmend this to 9-11 year old girls or fifth grade girls.

HAPPY READING!!!!!!

a two headed review
Two Heads Are Better Than One is my favorite Abby Hayes book yet. It is about when Abby is sick and gets a bad haircut. To make things worse, when she comes back to school, her science fair partner is a......... boy!! Could this day get any worse? If you want to find out, go to the library or bookstore and read this book!!

this is a funny book!! so read it.
this is a really funny book first abby gets sick, next, she cuts her hair into this really ugly hair cut, then she gets better and goes back to school with the funny hair cut,and the person who is her science fair partner is a BOY,and all they do is argue,argue.argue.but they finally get things slinding across the ice a little more smoothly everything turns out all right and her hair is even growing back in the end!!!!
