Light Shed on an Underappreciated Artist
Consuelo Kanaga had a warm human touch and sharp journalist's eye. This book of her life as a photographer is a gem for those interested in photography as art and expression. It could also serve as a good source of material for art or women's studies researchers, and even photographers who are looking to their predecessors to improve and expand their own work. Her images reflect a humane view of and connection with her subjects: the exquisite quality of light and composition, and deft, almost brutal editing betray her great technical skill. The very readable and informative text is peppered with small photos, while the remainder of the book is filled with beautifully reproduced full-page plates. Just as Consuelo Kanaga is a photographer as worthy of recognition as her more famous colleagues, this volume of her work is worthy of a place on the shelf of any aficionado or enthusiast of photography.

Romance doesn't get thrown out when kids enter the scene
I read this book for the first time after the birth of my first child, when I felt the romance and spontaneity slipping away from my marriage. Anne Mayer makes many lighthearted, yet helpful suggestions for getting it back and keeping it. It's been two months since I had my third child, and I pulled out this book for the third time to refresh my memory, and my husband's! An excellent book for any couple, whether you have small children, older children, or are just planning to have children

If your marriage has "lost it"....read this!!
If your marriage has lost it's bliss, spontaneity, and just the overall fun..(that you used to have)..Then you need to check this book out and read it from cover to cover. Great ideas, and some provacative thoughts to get your LUST for each other back on track! Great book for parents and married couples without children also.

tips for having fun together- yes it's possible
Anne Mayer offers the nuts and bolts of getting away together for an evening or weekend as well as ideas for keeping romance alive everyday, it was very informative for keeping love alive while being nuturing parents too, i definitely would recommend this book to all parents.

Excellent Dialog and Photographs
This is a comprehensive book that covers (in five good sized chapters) the origins and influences of the Arts & Crafts style, hallmarks of the style, furniture, objects and accents, and case studies. I am a woodworker and I use this book quite frequently for inspiration and reference. For those interested in this period I highly recommend this book.

Excellent entry point into Arts and Crafts Movement
An arts and crafts website recommended this book as the place for beginners in the movement. Following their lead, we purchased the book and have not regretted it.

The advice is true. This is excellent background for the movement, giving it a skeleton which can be used to hang more and more on, including sources, wonderful photographical examples, and resources. We're finding it is desirable and so, so useful to restoring our bungalow to have a wealth of books on hand such as these to give ideas for restoration and decorating.

Beautiful photos, great detail ideas, and history
This book has a wonderful compilation of ideas, rooms and history to inspire one to run out to the antique mall. The details of every type of room done in this fashion gives a wealth of ideas for bringing this style into your own home.

very helpful
Carol Mayer has written a great book for parents of digit suckers and the child. We have a 7yo boy who is having a very hard time stopping his thumb sucking. The book is helpful in understanding why one should not suck and gives children positive self esteem building ideas and exercises to quit their habit. Our child likes working with the author in office and with phone follow up. It is the best tool for we who struggle with breaking this habit.

A truly caring way to help children & teens overcome a habit
My son is 10 years old and was having problems giving up his thumbsucking habit. This book is written with love and caring for the spirit of the child. He never faltered and has been successful because he first of all wanted to do it and this book gave us all the tools to help him succeed. This book cannot do it for you but if you keep at it your child can only succeed. My older son is still trying. It's like a smoker who can't quite. They just need to set their mind to it. This book gives the kids all the support and rewards they need.

We loved this non-invasive approach to our daughters habit.
This is the greatest approach we have ever seen. Our 6 year old sucked her thumb so intensely we thought she would never stop. We tried everything ( Time-out, Bribery, Witholding privileges, Hot Sauce) & believe me, this program really works! Upon receiving the book, we sat down & went over the program. Our Daughter signed the contract , kept her charts & wore her "Thumb Gloves". It has been 8 weeks & she has not regressed once! It's not magic-- it's a non-invasive approach that involves a step-by-step process, putting the child in the drivers seat for controlling her habit. I would recommend this program to any parent & child who are serious about stopping the habit & can be dedicated to the program.
