FUN CULTURAL CRITIQUE
Massman and Rosser have written about a time much written about, yet A MATTER OF BETRAYAL is utterly original, continually surprising and sure to challenge your conception of what the past represents, and how memory and nostalgia alters what's nightmarish and painful. You have yet to read such a challenging story. The characters live large, perhaps larger than many of us did during that time, yet the canvas they paint on tells the story of the American dream gone awry, of an entire culture's devastated idealism. The skewed values of some of the characters embody much of what is wrong with our country. While entertaining, this book offers a glimpse of something gone horribly, grotesquely wrong; and it hints as to the terrible consequences with which we must all as humans deal.

I Couldn't Put It Down!
I absolutely loved this book. Reading about Jenny's experiences as a volunteer in Viet Nam was so enlightening, then the way the book follows Kick in New York during the same time was so interesting, I truely cared about these characters and enjoyed reading the way their lives unfolded. The mystery that permeates the whole story definitely kept my attention - I couldn't put it down! I strongly recommend this book.

startling and compelling
it's about time someone wrote a realistic story about how the war in Vietnam affected not only the men but the women whose lives it changed. i could not put it down and cared about the characters and what happened to them. it will leave you with ending that will not soon forget.

Pretty good
I enjoyed this book. Parts were pretty funny. The fat counting is pretty old news now but I imagine it was of more interest when it was written. What a jerk Diana's husband was!! He was really pretty funny though. Chris seemed just about perfect. If not for JoJo, maybe he would have been. Diana did not seem to live a very moral life once she separated, lost weight, and was sought after. A bad example for her kids. But I liked the book anyway.

Great fun GIRL Power read !
In the vein of The First Wives Club....
This is an incredibly funny book where a woman who gets dumped by her less than winner husband cause she is fat makes the best of things- get thin- makes a fortune and wins the hunk next door and has some wild sexy affairs along the way-meantime her ex gets his just deserts in the end! The book has explicit sex- but is handled with sensitivity. I really liked the heroine and could feel her struggle and empathize with her. The only thing I found annoying was the harping on the diet throughout ( it is easy to skim and ignore and get back to the story though). This was written in the days of counting fat grams so that is the diet slant here- really funny considering things are all about counting carbs today..... ah well! The book is fun, funny, sexy and made me laugh and smile- esp the very end!Great curl up and read with a glass of wine or hang by the pool book!

very good and inspiring
i really loved this book. i have read it about three or four times. it really inspires me to be as successful as she was at reaching her goals.

Beach reading
I haven't read this book in around 10 years but I remember it as basically a good beach read. A woman who is bored with her marriage fantasizes about a fling with another man. She soon meets a man and things get complicated quickly.

Great Beach read
I really enjoyed this book. It is a very fast moving book I thought.
Three women are the main characters of this book: Kelly, Kirstin & Ericka.
Kelly is fantasizing of having having an extra-marital affair so her girlfriends set it up for her to have one.
The affair effects each of their lives in a different way.
Great Summer Read!!!
