excellent - BUT BUY British version from amazon.co.uk
Excellent book - unfortunately I didn't buy the british version right away - which comes with an extraodinary CD. So I bought the british version as well and offered the american one to a friend. LONG LIVE OLD EUROPE

beautiful, humorous, thrilling
Recently I bought the UK-version of this book. It is called 'Into the Red' and comes with a CD with sounds of the sportscars described in the books. I agree with all other reviewers: this CD plus book is a must-have. The pictures in the book are beautiful, the text by Mason and Hales is technically, humorously and very interesting to read. Even if you are not full into racingcars, this is still a very nice book to have in your bookcase !

Get It With The CD!
It can be ordered through Amazon UK; It's called "Into The Red" and the engine sounds on the CD are awesome.

Ready to tackle the CCNA!
I just finished reading this book cover to cover and feel very confident about moving on to the next stage of my CCNA preparation, practice tests and simulation! I've been using the CCExam software from CCStudy.com as well as a few other practice tests and am amazed how easy a lot of the questions were after reading this book. Just an indication of how comprehensive this book is.

More important, in my opinion, is the book's "readability"! I'm sure there are numerous books that cover the exact same information as this book yet might not be written in a manner that is clear and simple to understand, especially for Cisco newbies like myself. This book is just a lot of fun to read.

Finally, I really enjoyed the "real world" tone of this title. It isn't written for someone who's bound for the testing center, but rather for someone who needs to apply the knowledge at work in the field. I'm certain that I'll constantly be using this book as a reference even after passing the exam. Very cool.

All in all, I'd like to recommend ICND to the Cisco neophyte who's looking for that great "First Book" to start off his or her Cisco library. I'm really glad I got this book and I'm sure you will be too.

Good luck on your CCNA!

Excellent Book........
I read ICND by Cisco Press before. I found this book used on Amazon and bought it just because it was cheap. Now I can not put it down. This book is far better than Cisco Press' ICND. It has about 100 more pages than Cisco's. To me it is worth every minute spent to read this book.
I passed CCNA in December. So, I don't have the exam pressure. I am reading this just for fun and enjoying it.
I strongly recommend it over Cisco's ICND if you intent to take CCNA test.

MUST have for CCNA2.0!
I pass ccna2.0 with 935/1000 today. All I have is this book and Boson exams. I've read my friend's Todd Lammle book. I think this book is much better than Todd's. Todd's is written for passing the exam. For the ICND book, you actally learn the CCNA stuff in depth. I strongely recommend this book for everyone who want to pass the CCNA2.0 with FULLY understanding.

I want to be Nick Mason!
Once you've read this book, while listening to the included soundtrack, you'll say the same thing "I WANT TO BE NICK MASON"!!! He owns and drives the cars in the book. I'll never be able to do that, but thanks to Nick, he's providing the next best thing with this book. If you enjoy Vintage Race Cars, BUY THIS BOOK! Put the disc in the stereo, crank it up, read along and be taken for a ride!!!

This Book's a Gold Mine!
The reviewer is the author of NOT GUILTY BY REASON OF INSANITY, (which is also on Amazon.com).

Listen up you forensic professionals, this book's a wealth of information, with expertise constantly evident! Their primary audience is oriented toward the Health Care Setting, but it's certainly not limited to this arena. This is truly a "user friendly" manual, and ought to be on the desks of all individuals really wanting to do the best job possible in regard to, in fact, managing violence and aggression. Tom Mason and Mark Chandley have done a great job!

Turning Love into a Gift
The collection that the Masons have built out of a love of art, craftmanship and wood turns into a real gift to those who do not have the luxury to study these pieces first-hand. The photos of their home shows that their attraction with creation is not limited to wood but to light, paintings and melding life with art.

The photos display the pieces so well that some just seem to glow and brighten on the page. It makes it difficult to look at a tree or salad bowl without imagining the possiblities.

Wow! Incredible book!
This is a great book if you want just a field guide with information on the different species of cetaceans. This would be a great book to take "whale watching".

Best Field Guide for Cetaceans I Have Seen
I lead about a dozen pelagic (offshore) birding boat trips each year off the east coast of the U.S. In the process, I became very interested in identifying the whales and dolphins we were seeing. As a result, I needed to find a decent field guide.

This book is the best field guide to cetaceans that I've seen yet. It does an excellent job of presenting known identification criteria as well as pitfalls. The pictures, measurements, and dive sequences provide a quick reference. The more in-depth text provides the further details needed to confirm an ID or sometimes to explain why your view of a specific animal keeps you from making a positive ID.

This is the one cetacean field guide I recommend to trip participants.

Outstanding field guide
This book is extremely useful to both the general reader and to those with a serious interest in cetaceans. The book is well organized for quick reference and beautifully illustrated to aid in species identification in the field. Cetaceans are grouped by family and unique characteristics are clearly defined and illustrated. In addition the book is lightweight and easily carried on a boat trip. Highly recommended.

A beautiful myth
I read this book in my western civ class during college. I was not sure what to expect from it, but found that I was pulled in and the book and meaning of the book would not let go. This is the meaning of life at its best. Athough not much history is involved with this epic tale, the writing is. This well done verse translation gives a glossary at the end of the book to help with hard to pronouce words and makes the read a bit easier. I do suggest reading this great book. It is very well done.

Gilgamesh
I had to read this book for a school World History class. This tale of the ancient god Gilgamesh, was written in free-form verses. This book was short, with an intresting and thought-provocking introduction and conclusion. I have not read other translations, but this one semmed very benificial to the high-school aged student. Although I did not really enjoy the story, it really forced you to think; about life, death, and immortality. Also included was a great feature, a glossey at the back of the book so you could look up proper nouns when you got confused. I found the glossery so helpful as I read this book. In conclusion, although this book was not my peferred style of writing, this is a very good translation of an epic tale.

A deep view of the meaning of life
While there cannot be much doubt as to the cultural value of the Epic of Gilgamesh, the importance of the story transceds mere literary significance. The Epic of Gilgamesh is one of those simple and yet deeply insightful stories that one can relate to. The verse narrative style that mason adopts, while by no means a flawless poetic translation, takes you through the events in a seamlessly captivating manner. One can infer a lot from the story about the meaning of life, especially as regards how the ancient ones chose to answer questions such as eternity and why humans cannot live forever (u'll have to figure out which part of the story I am talking about!!).
Overall this is a great reading. Shouldnt take too long to finish either, although I recommend that you take your time reading this one.

In Search of the Loving God: Resolving the Past Traumas of Christianity, and Bringing to Light Its Healing Spirit

Past and present come together in Mark Mason's book
Examining this book was enjoyable, educational and insightful. Mark Mason challenges the reader to go deeper into church history and examine the motives behind the actions then that influence us even now. It is the subtle quality of this book that makes it so powerful. And tying the past to the present is no small task, but Mr. Mason does a thorough job of doing just that. A must read for the serious student of history.

Very readable - diagnostic on decline of Christianity!
Well written, full of revelant historical information that allows the reader to grasp the foundation of the fall and decline of tribal Christianity; or my love of Jesus is better than your love of Jesus. The final chapters highlight the need to overcome this Christian demonimalization, or eventually, all Christians will witness the erroding of the sacred message enunciated by Jesus the Christ.

Therapeutic reading for "recovering" fundamentalists
Mark Mason's In Search of the Loving God can be very helpful for former "Born Agains" (such as myself) whose intuition has always told them that there must be more to God than the punishing father or unreachable "bearded guy in the sky".

The author skillfully gives cultural and historical insights into the life of Christ and the Christian church of past and present. He offers reassurance based on etymological and cross-religious evidence that indeed, God is most definitely knowable and loving.

Far from being a dry document, the book is written in a personable, self-disclosing style which I found engaging to read. The extensive references and bibliography are also quite impressive and helpful.

A Great Find
In graduate school, I wasn't taught how to write formal poetry. In fact, a buddy of mine and I "secretly" wrote formal poetry in fear that we might be persecuted by our peers, all post-modern free-verse spawn. Even as an undergraduate, I was taught that free-verse is the way to go--forget that stuffy formal nonsense--be original! Do your own thing!

Ever try to write a sestina? Ever write a villanelle? Does anyone write sonnets any more?

_Rebel Angels_ proves that formal verse is not dead at all. In fact, this anthology is one of the best books of poetry I've ever read. The verse is tight here, and when these poets are on, they can produce some well-written masterpieces. Dana Goia's poetry is very well done. His work in ballad stanza should not be missed. Tom Disch has a pair of villanelles that prove that Dylan Thomas isn't the only poet who can perfect the form. This volume doesn't include only metered verse in a recognizable form. Many poets write in irregular rhyming patterns. Perhaps the most exciting thing about the poetry was the inclusion of several modern narrative pieces--the narrative poem, now there's a poem not assigned in my graduate workshop.

Check this one out certainly. Don't forget to read Jarman's introduction. It's quite interesting. Imagine someone calling formal poets "unAmerican." It happens.

great collection
I am both a fan of formal poetry and free verse, but it always seemed like contemporary poets only wrote in free verse. i couldn't find any modern formal poetry. that's why this collection was such a wonderful little gem to find. some of the better poets born after 1950 are included here.

Excellent
New Formalism was long overdue, and this volume surveys it admirably. Recommended.
