Fans, film historians, and even other biographers owe a lot to Martinetti's ground-breaking book. He presents a rounded, candid view of the boy from Indiana who became an icon on September 30, 1955. Martinetti's sources are the best -- Dean's friends during his lean New York years, those who knew Dean socially in Hollywood, and those who worked with him. Dean certainly made an impression on everyone who met him -- and in this book he'll make an unforgettable impression on you. Martinetti was, by the way, the first to address the issue of Dean's complex sexuality.
