Faces represents extraordinary insight into complex issues.
Paul Thompson touches sensitive issues in black and white with "Faces." The African American expereince in America is still being defined. This effort embodies the sincere reflections and insight of an African American looking backwards and forward at the same time. I think it is exceptional and the audio tapes make it convienent. Dr. Bill Adkins, Senior Pastor Greater Imani Church Memphis, Tennessee

Paul Thompson gives an unfiltered view of African-Americans.
Insightful, new angles and completely honest and unfiltered views of the current status of African-Americans, Paul Thompson's Faces Pressed Against the Glass is the first book in 30 years that gives views of African-American culture in terms not chosen by the media or the majority culture. I particularly appreciated Thompson's unique phrasing and his willingness to tackle black subjects that media-chosen black writers are frightened of. A great set of tapes that I hope will soon be in book form on all shelves.

Not so bad...
a pretty good exploration of heidegger's later thought, and it doesn't quite come from out of left field like "contributions"... a lot of the groundwork for this piece was laid previously but is a fairly concise statement on the grounding nature of reason, and his exegesis along the path on which the thinking of reason as a question of being brings together some elements not explicitly brought into play in the same space prior to this lecture series.

Read and then go find your partner
Erotique Noir is a tool in the world of love, lust and sex. Among these pages there is something for everyone and just like in sex, where no one should walk away disappointed, with this book you won't.

Erotique Noir has a host of different artist from the African Diaspora who explore different forms of sensuality and sexuality. This anthology is filled with short stories, poems, book excerpts, and antidotes. It even has a sexual horoscope so that you may discover where some of your sexual proclivities hail from.

Some of the stories deal more with innuendos and their sexuality is beautifully written in lyrical languages. Others are right out there with it, using sexual language that is so bold and exciting it will have you turning on your ceiling fan.

No matter who you are this book can cater to you as a sexual being. However be warned, it's not for the faint at heart or those unwilling to open their minds beyond their bedrooms. Also it helps if you have your partner near by. Enjoy!...

my, it's getting soooo hot in here...
i rarely read books more than once...if i do, it's because i have missed something or i may have not gotten the story or i may have liked it so much that i wanted to experience it again...this is a book i have bought and read more than once...it is that good. when i first read it, i had not read alot of erotica, especially black erotica, and i love sex. so when i thumbed through it and saw erotic poetry along with fiction and essays, i didn't think twice about it. i had never know black people could be so free and open with their sexuality. in this anthology, the black writers define their own sexuality, not white people. the tastes here range from tasteful, to freaky. there's something here for everybody: masturbation, gay and lesbian, bondage, interracial. i have always had an interest in interracial stories.and the ones by trey ellis and chester himes here are my favorites.audre lorde has an excellent essay on the erotic here. yana west has a couple of stories that will definately get a rise out of you. these black writers are here to share their erotic fruits. savor them.

Seductively Tantalizing
I happened upon this book by accident many years ago, but each time I read Erotique Noire, it's just like the first time. I love reading it. This book puts me in the mood. My favorite poem is Insatiable and that's the way I feel everytime I pick up Erotique Noire . I really enjoy sharing the various stories with my friends and my lover, but I make them by their own copy. I won't let this book out of my sight for one moment. This book is awesome, thought provoking and well written. It is a definite page turner. If you don't have your own copy, get it.

Warm
I am not too crazy about this book. The stories were okay, the poetry well written, but it felt like an Erotique Noire : Black Erotica rip off. I understand this editor was involved in that particular book. Maybe he should hook up with those two again and write another book.

Where is the real sequel?
I wanted so much to love this book, especially since it was billed and packaged to be the sequel to Erotique Noire, the best book of African Diaspora erotica ever written. This one has its hot moments, but it fails to embrace the scope and depth of that first work. It is a thick book, as thick as Erotique Noire, but it only has about half the number of entries. I believe its size was an unfair marketing device. I thought I was getting another remarkable encyclopedic work. Its redeeming quality is that it selected very good writers. I am still looking for the real sequel to Erotique Noire. And I demand that it be a big book that covers all of the bases.

Brave, bold, and beautiful! Martin's finest.
Dark Eros is a sweet and sensuous journey where you travel with Reginald Martin, unprotected. From the articulate and pointed preface, to the last selection, the reader is rewarded with a myriad of poems and prose that move from tender renderings to spontaneous and passionate pieces, full of rhythmic energy. The book is a consant "eargasm" to the reader who is moved by the joy of words. Readers beware! Martin is a trickster and these poems are encoded with layers of subtext. Approach these pieces as you would a favorite sensual pleasures of black feeling, black love, black passion.

A great book to read before the trip
Looking through this travel guide I was amazed my the great amount of high quality picture on various sites in Berlin and Potsdam. I just had to start reading the chapters on history and culture. But I was kind of disappointed by their actual travel sections with their recommendations on travel, hotels and food. Having travel those cities their suggestions seem to be really good insider tips but more of the standard recommendations one can get anywhere. I recommend reading this book before the trip and buy another travel guide to actually take with you
