25 Spanish Science Books For Emergent Readers
I loved this book! It was fun to break into the 25 booklets, and not only my 2-4 grade ESLs loved it, my kids in the neighborhood did as well. It helped them very much to see the written Spanish and pretty pictures they could color!

Wonderful thematic supplemental material!
This book is chock-full of excellent little books that incorporate all science themes for K-1. Readable, easy text. Good translation. A must have for bilingual teachers. The English version is wonderful for ELD and for dual immersion/2way classes. I'm glad to find these resources here on Amazon.com! It beats driving to the local teacher store!

fun! great summer beach book
Simply loved One Bubble Off ... great for the beach; light reading and a great plot. Shows how older people really are no different after all, and have just as much fun (more?) than the younger crew!

A Hilarious, Must Read for Young and Old Alike
Whether you're 90 or 20, you'll love ONE BUBBLE OFF ... I know I did. It takes a look at retirement that is funny and still realistic -- a print version of the "Golden Girls" but better because it's closer to how it really is. Witty, charming and impossible to put down; read it if you're young at heart, just young, or simply want a great book to curl up with. Bravo Ms. Martin!

A Beautiful Celebration of Christmas
A glorious book! If you are searching for a book with easy-to-play carols, this is it. The added bonuses: with each carol you get beautiful and diverse Christmas artwork and a short history of each carol, all on pages with a nice, glossy finish in large, easy-to-see print. This book has all the standards, a few not-so-common but lovely carols, plus some secular favorites. All these things in a very pleasing layout make this a must-have book.

Powerful works of art
A remarkable collection of powerful and memorable images: protest posters produced in Vietnam, Cuba and the United States. The art is incredible, and the essays skillfully provide insight into the posters themselves and the contexts in which they were created. I wish i had seen the exhibition myself, but this book is a valuable substitute.

It's about time.
Leaders in higher education should stand up and applaud the efforts of these authors. This is an accurate appraisal of the IT landscape in higher education. Few have ever touched upon this 800 pound gorilla of a subject. These authors have challenged the misperceptions held by many about the real costs of technology. It's about time.

Terry Gross is the best!
I came across National Public Radio many years ago just tooling around the FM dial. I found "Fresh Air with Terry Gross" and was hooked by the interview at the time, with Clint Eastwood. The questions were ones I would want to ask him. I was intrigued by this voice I have never heard before on radio, sophisticated, smart, smooth, curious, and down to earth. No commercial radio hype, none of the exaggeration for a big news story, not a celebrity exclusive. I've since heard this audio compilation of the the comedians interviewed on "Fresh Air laughs" and loved it. This isn't just a side splitting laugh a minute tape, it also brings you a realization that these are real people. The Bill Murray interview is so unlike his performer identity we all know that you have to listen to it carefully, because Terry brings out his humanity with her interview style. We get to listen to conversation that has substance and not just style. This is a tape you can sink your teeth into, it's that thick.

Wonderfully done book
A nicely crafted book that covers all bases in this artists career. Great reproductions of the prints, well-written text and a solid book to hold in your hand. History on Baumann covers beginning of career to the end with just a touch of the technical side of this art form. Certainly inspired me!

Pretty Good! Very Honest! A review by a 10-yr.-old!
Melanie Martin is back from Italy. She is now done with 4th grade (which I just finished, too!). She, her ever-serious dad, her art-loving mom, her six-and-a-half yr. old brother, Matt the Brat, and her best friend Cecily. She is SOO excited to be traveling again, especially with a friend!

The reason Cecily is going with them is because her mom, who Melanie never really liked, had breast cancer. Later in the book, Melanie realizes that Cecily's mother really isn't so bad after all. But 'Mellie' just is not very sensitive towards her best friend.

Melanie is frustrated with her parents, her brother, and especially Cecily. She is sick of hearing everyone dish out compliments to Cecily. Cecily is a good artist, Cecily looks great in royal blue, Cecily is such a good sport, Cecily says the most interesting things. Mel is pretty upset, as I would be. Not admirable, but quite true. In the end, she has a great vacation and she makes up with her pal.

This book was not perfect, but pretty darn good nonetheless. Written in diary form, this very realistic young girl teaches us Dutch words, info about artists, and how to deal with tough stuff. If you are an 8-10 year old girl who is smart enough to ask questions about breast cancer after reading this book, then pick this up at your local bookstore.

Not just for girls
The name of this book might make you think it's just for girls. It;s not. Matt is really funny and it's cool to read about the different countries they visit.

Read this book
This book is really funny. It made me laugh a lot. I enjoyed learning all about Holland, especially the artists from there like Vermeer, Rembrandt and Van Gogh. I liked seeing a new place through the eyes of a person my age. Melanie's trip reminded me of when I travel with my family (lots of excitement, lots of squabbles). I keep a journal at school, and I liked being able to read somebody else's journal. I hope Carol Weston writes more Melanie Martin books soon. I want to read them all.

Book Club Review
I used this book for our Mother-Daughter book club and the girls thoroughly enjoyed it (all age 9). Out of the five girls, only one girl didn't like it, and we believe it's because she and Melanie were too much alike. During the book club, they enjoyed talking about the poems Melanie wrote and trying to say the Italian words. They related tremendously with Melanie and they were all very excited to discuss her adventures through Italy.

A 10-year-old's view of Italy
Meet 10 year old Melanie Martin, your average american kid and child travel critic . Melanie keeps a travel journal when her folks take her and her 6 year old brother Matt on a trip to Italy. Remember those family vacations you used to take as a kid? Well trust me, when you travel with Melanie, it'll all come rushing back at you.

Melanie's accounts of plane travel, Italian culture ("Almost everyone here speaks Italian-even kids"), and her goofy adventures with her family (at a museum she plays a game with Matt to "Point out the Naked People") will have you in stitches. Ms Weston is not only a funny writer, she's a mom and it serves her well in her accounts of family behaviour. This book reminds me of my own family trips when I was a kid (hey, when I was 11, my folks took me to Italy too! I can't say I appreciated it as much as Melanie did, but then maybe she should have joined us for the ride!)

Funny, breezy and filled with the easily believable dialogue of a ten year old (complete with doodles on the pages!) This is a great book for would-be travelers of all ages.

The Diary of Melanie Martin
The book, The Diary of Melanie Martin is a great book toread. I liked how Melanie had all kinds of different adventures inItaly. I liked that at the begining of the book Matt and Melanie were like total enemies, then at the end they seemed to be like best friends because they were getting along so well. I liked all the book's characters and how the story represented a trip to Italy. My favorite part of the book was when, they found Matt whom had gotten lost in the museum because, from there Melanie and Matt became really, really , kind and nice to each other and they stayed that way for the rest of the book. I enjoyed this story a whole lot and I know that other kids besides myself will enjoy it to.
