Excellent - Something for the general and the serious reader
Fr Greeley is always insightful, funny and mind opening. He is also, clearly, a good judge of coauthors.

Changed My Life
I read this book in it's original form (The Bible And Us) and then purchased and read - several times - this version. My original reason for reading this was a fascination with the concept of a priest and a rabbi reading scripture together. The reading is much more than the concept. Greeley's section on the Song of Songs will create a new wonder for your relationship with God. Neusner's insight into the Torah and the Holocaust let's you know what wonders and answers are available from the word of God. Normally one would say that a good review is in its recommendation to others. I have purchased this book again and again as gifts for many.

Wonderful Compliment to A Comprehensive Guide
If you're a gay man who doesn't know London well, buy this book. Gay London offers a selective and manageable list of what to do and see in London-both what's nominally gay and what some gay men look for (e.g., art museums). I finished the book thinking that Gay London was what the four authors would recommend to their out-of-town friends.

Presented more as a travelogue, the authors identify and describe what they like about London. The writing is clever and the book is well organized. The book is also wallet size, which meant I could carry it around easily and pull it out to read whenever I had a free moment. Most convenient.

Two notes:
1. If you don't know London well, you will need another guide, because Gay London is highly selective--thus leaves out a lot of information.
2. This book is for gay men. Thankfully, the authors make that clear on the outside back cover.

The Gay Way to LONDON!
This guide is very complete and accurate. Anything gay that you could possibly want to know about or do in London is included! Don't go to London without it!

Light from the darkness of tragedy
This is the story of Andrew Stanar Johnson. Born into an Orthodox Christian family, he was a huge joy to his parents, who truly adored this precious child. However, his family's joy would turn to despair as, shortly after his sixth birthday, he is killed in an accident.

This book is an account of Andrew's life as well as an account of how his family, with the help of God, try to struggle through their loss. Andrew was a child who was completely convinced in the reality of God and His work all around us, and the knowledge that the end of one's earthly life need not mean "The End". Through their pain and suffering, Andrew's parents slowly begin to redouble their efforts to listen to what God is saying, and it is through this that they are able to continue on in hope, in faith, and in love.

Very Inspirational
This book tells a story of tragedy and suffering, but also of strength and faith in God. This books gives meaning and insight into the death of a young child. Make sure you have tissues nearby when you start reading this book. This book was hard to put down, read it from front to back in one sitting.

Great sourcebook! Tremendously useful.
This book is well-written and covers a vast scope. Contrary to what the title might lead you to believe, this book covers a lot more than just plain mediums. In fact, it offeres detailed information on just about any faction in the Skinlands that might interact with the Restless Dead: "Boardwalk mediums" found at carnivals and circuses the ruthless Giovanni vampires, even charlatans and frauds who possess no real talent, but manage to offend wraiths with their very presumption and chicanery.

This book is definitely worth the purchase price- it will enrich virtually any Wraith chronicle.

Mediums done right
This is a fine resource for mediums, much better than the Quick and the Dead. The systems stuff is vastly improved, with a battery of new merits and flaws for mediums that I actually found useful (and can be used to supplement or replace the hedge magic paths for interacting with wraiths). There is some good stuff on summoning, a large section on Native American medicine men and shamanic dealings with the dead, a fresh look at many of the old ghost-dealing groups, and a new ability for those people who have had enough with wraiths shouting in their ears.

wonderful in a classroom
I've used this book as a resource for teaching about slavery in an elementary school class. The thoughts conveyed are not the usual rhetoric presented in most lower level school social studies texts. Until recently children have not been exposed to the idea that slavery existed in parts of the world other than the USA. The long history of slavery - in the world and especially in Africa itself is new to many people. We learn much about slavery that has not before been related to school children, if not adults. The children in my classroom have been very absorbed by the thoughts presented in these pages. This is a must-read for Middle or High School students studying Aftican American history. As a teacher I would be sure to use it in my class.

Epidermolysis Bullosa : Basic and Clinical Aspects
This was a great book. I found this text very useful in managing the EB patients I have encountered in the past two years as a medical resident. The book was very comprehensive, detailed and relevant to the clinical management of patients with this complicated and serious disease.

Incredibly clever reference book of film directors
This book is a thorough, well-thought-out reference of major motion picture directors. It's organized like an encyclopedia and in every description of a director are references to other directors in bold face type. The idea being that after reading a section on, say, Woody Allen, you could then go to Frederico Fellini, who was highlighted in Woody's bio and so on. Excellent book. I can't understand why it was taken out of print or why it might not have sold well.

Very good book
This book is 1 of 2 which make a set. These two books are good as they are presented in black and white with a systematic layout. This is a great step away from normal university textbooks which are rehashed constantly, due to the commercialism which permeates our society, making them convoluted at times and full of irrelevant text and colorful images etc. Most of these textbooks shouldn't be allowed in our classrooms. This book didn't get five stars as some concepts and examples don't have relevant graphs and models presented which would make learning easier (especially the formulation of the surface integral). All in all this is the best calculus/physics book I've found so far. It is important to download the errata as some mistakes are present within: ...

A brilliant narration to a most exquisite topic
The authors of this book have skillfully combined insightful explanations with equally wonderfully examples. This book is excellent for those with little mathematical background interested in exploring the world of physics. The authors keep the reader entertained by maintaining a conversional tone, and a light-hearted spirit. Their love for the material radiates from each and every page.
This should be a required text for every college physics class. All to often are there students with missing pieces floating around in their heads. Other physics text books will tend to skip over the mathematical background to the topics, as not to repeat material for some students, or scare away others. This book not only excites an interest in the physical world around us, but the mathematical language of nature as well.

Previous Math/Physics Dropout
I found the subject matter elucidating. Refreshingly complete, the books properly integrate physics and calculus the way they were meant to be. Neither field stands alone; they enjoy a wonderful symbiotic relationship. Thanks to authors Jackson and Rex, this relationship is defined in real world terms. Highly recommended for all college level students and especially helpful for the math/physics majors.

A witty and inteligent insight into the world of surfing
I really enjoyed this book, it left me wanting much more. A well researched and descriptive look at the bizare world of big wave surfers. Particularly suited to those who have not and have no intention of surfing big waves themselves, but would like to get inside the head of the people who do. It has a travelogue style, I think it would appeal to readers of Eric Newby or even books like "A year in Provence". His other book "Coming down the Mountain", takes a similar approach, but to World cup Down Hill skiing. Again a good read, but for me not quite so riveting as this one. Give it a try

THIS BOOK RATES AS HIGH AS THE BARRELS ANDY WRITES ABOUT.
A great book about surfing, people, travel and polynesian history. It's both laid back and pumping at the same time and any kind of surfer would get a good feeling from reading it.
