This must be for reading and discussing .
This is a "Review" of a Book that I think is important. I have just got an idea about the context, but as a pedagogue in Violinplaying and Languages I am all for studying this book closer. I am not a sentimental Man, but I feel that this book has a lot to give. Our school-system (all over the World) is not respecting the little Child. It is a start for the competition against one's fellow-students. It should instead be a Competition
together with one's Fellow-Human-beings !

There are NO Bad Pupils - only Bad Teachers !

It's not recommendable to write about a book that I haven't read,
but nevertheless in this case, the subject is so important;
to give the Best possible start to our Children !

If the book is a "disaster", it's even more worth studying, because it leads somewhere.
But this is an exception from my side !

Greatest Resource for Kids I've Found
This book is loaded with factual information. The author did a wonderful job thinking of the questions that our children would have after such a horrible tragedy'and also provided great answers.

Not only is the book informational, but there are actvities which encourage children to think for themselves.

Plus, the book offers suggestions for things children can do to help.

Overall, this book is AWESOME! Everyone should have at least one copy.

A great book with brilliant atmosphere!
This story is centered around an old inn on the Kent marshes in rural England at the time of the Napolionic War. Old Dot and Aunt Beet have been left with the care of thier neice Lucinda, as she grows up she becomes very beatiful and the old aunts try to protect her from the outside world, but a mysterious stranger has his eye on Lucinda, and eventually a tragedy awaits the young girl. What of the Shulmead family who work the old forge up on the hill? Sam the tyrannical father is found with his head completley hacked off, has it anything to do with his sons Matt and Mark who suddenly run away to the Army? Or was it his son John, who slaves away at the brickfields from dawn till dusk with Larlee his drunken slovenly taskmaster? Or yet another Shulmead son Luke the imbecile? Find out in this lively and atmospheric novel.

Nonfiction Entertains Children as Surely as Fiction
This is a book for children who live in warm climates. They can learn something about something they have never seen.

This is a book for children who experience winter every year. They can learn to appreciate what they have.

This is a book for parents, too. They'll learn interesting tidbits about winter they never knew as they read to their kids.

This is a book for teachers. It's a darn good resource and idea book.

"Winter: The 'Wow!' Season" presents information on anything and everything one could possibly know about winter. Carole Marsh, the author, tells us about frogs that freeze in the winter and wake up in the spring because of a kind of antifreeze in their bodies. She includes practical advice and career possibilities for those interested in all things wet, cold and frozen. There's stuff about insects and animals and avalanches. It includes information about hibernation and wintertime etiquette. There's even an adorable g-g-g-glossary!

"Winter" is illustrated with clipart style pictures. Many are humorous. There are enough of them to keep even a toddler asking questions.

Good but not Great, Shaken but not Stirred
I liked this book but it didn't have any pictures. I think the author threw it apart in about 5 minutes. For example, it's printed on 8.5" x 11" paper on one side only, but I learned alot about my favorite thing in the world, Roller Coasters! (notice i capitolized it!)

Was Disappointed it's a Workbook
Be aware that this is a workbook, and although the information is interesting to a young child who craves it, the activities in the workbook are not appropriate for young children. The print in this book is very small, too small for young children in my opinion. The book format looks like it is geared to older primary students, but the depth of information seems inadequate for that age bracket.

The book on the whole is interesting. It gives facts curious children like, such as what Bush likes to eat, tells about Mrs. Bush, and the family pets. I do not regret my purchase, but wished I had known a bit more beforehand.
