Very Funny from Patrick age 8
I think this is a funny book. The aliens fly around in cups and have tenacles and all sorts of alien stuff that makes it fun to read. It's funny that they are aliens going to school. I hope she writes a Second Graders from Mars. And then Third Graders from Mars.

First Grade, Martian Style.....
Horus couldn't wait to get to his first grade class in Pod 1. But once there, he was confused. Where was the slime table and the snooze mats and what time was snack? "First graders are too big for those things," another student informs him and Horus realizes he's not in martiangarten anymore. First grade is work, work, work, from reading to art to math problems and Horus is hungry and tired and cranky when his mother picks him up from school. How was your first day, she wants to know. "Horrible. I'm not going back!" Unfortunately, he finds out that this decision is out of his hands (or in his case tentacles), when his folks literally drag him back to school the next morning. There he finds a new little alien crying big blue tears. She's afraid school will be terrible, Horus agrees and scary, no argument there, and the teacher will be mean and the work too hard. But as Horus remembers his first day he tells her, the teacher was very nice and helpful and the work is hard, but not too hard, you can do it. Horus has a new friend, a friend who feels just like he did yesterday and needs him to help show her the ropes. So together they march inside, ready for whatever comes their way..... Shana Corey has written a delightful and humorous story that many first graders will relate to. Her simple and realistic text, complete with silly Martian language, really captures the essence of a little one moving from the safe world of kindergarten to the big unknown of first grade and is complemented by Mark Teaque's funny, expressive, colorful artwork. Together they've authored a charming story with a gentle, reassuring message that won't be lost on young readers. Perfect for kids 5-8, First Graders From Mars is just right for beginning readers and also makes a wonderful read aloud story the entire family can enjoy.

Good, Wholesome, Martian Fun!!! and WEIRD!
First Graders From Mars is a super book for kids ages 4-8. It will become a staple for parents sending kids off to first grade and for first grade teachers welcoming Kindergarten graduates for the first time (Martiangarten Grads too!). Horus is a character who kids will quickly fall for...he's a kid through an through! Corey has crafted a fast-paced, easy-to-read story that gels!! It has lots of cool stuff (from a Martian girl who cries big blue tear drops out of her NOSE to a teacher who floats, has eyes in the back of her head, front, and SIDE!!!). Teague is a master and has brought the story to alien-life with bright, bold, alive illustrations. Watch this series ZOOOOOM up the bestseller lists!! Wow!!!! :)

Poet's Heart
At the heart of this great book is the heart of a pure poet. Marks writes with respect for his work and subject, bravely stepping out of the way of his words so they can stand on their own. Unlike most young poets, Marks writes with humility, yet without apology: in a time when our poetry follows at the heels of our confused culture, Marks steps away to name and clarify his place in it. Renunciation is good poetry from a writer with a good heart.

don't renounce RENUNCIATION
Wow! my creative writing instructor suggested I buy this book and she knew what she was talking about. Philip Levine selected it for the National Poetry Series and, unlike so many contest winners, this one deserved the prize. Marks' book is a real accomplishment for a first book; most third books aren't this good! At the book's center is the kind of poem all poets wish they could write, the moving homage "For Keats, After Keats." And there's the long title poem, a kind of spiritual meditation which contains subtle echoes of George Herbert. These poems are resonant, dense, formally adept, and full of exploding passions. Get this book!

Blah
This book is one of those glossy hardbound overedited editions that some cheapo company makes and sells on the discount reack at the bookstore. Not worth the price. The dimensions is about the size of a hardback, 5" wide by 8" tall, 80 short pages long. I bought it since description lists Mark Teague as an illustrator. Obviously an error since there is no way the 2 interior line drawings, or the cover art came from the wonderful artist of Mark Teague.

You might like the book
I would be unfair to say that the 883 pages were a total waste, but it wasn't worth it for me.

The title of the Book is "ASP XML", and from this title I choose this book, because I wanted a book that would help me to use XML in ASP. That wasn't the case in some of the book examples.

The book content (without the case study) is only 15 chapter that spans 366 pages covering all different aspects of XML and XML integration of ASP. The information presented is very basic and lacks basic knowledge of XML, for example XSL was covered very poorly in the book ( MSDN was more helpful to me than the book). Chapter 11 through 14 were very useful though, especially chapter 14 that covers useful XML procedure libraries.

The case studies spans around 180 pages, there are 6 case studies. They were very confusing to me and none of them helped me solving any of the business requirements I was tackling.

The rest of the book contains appendices that are useful to have them all in the same book, but you can get them over the Internet for free.

Last word to say is that I was disappointed with this book.

Excellent Book For ASP Developers to implement XML in ASP
The chapters are laid out properly and are easy to understand. It helped us to learn a great deal about incorporating XML into ASP.We recommend this book to anyone who wants to further expand their knowledge of XML in ASP.The authors did a really good job on explaing XML for ASP developers. The depth explainations of the case studies & examples and XML are really great and relate to real world examples. The chapter explaining about the SOAP is really good which helped us a lot personally to implement an in my current project . We personally thank Dinar Dalvi for his help and support to answer our questions and immediate feedback for our emails.

Best for Programmers to implement XML in ASP
Excellent! for ones who are pro to ASP and need to intergrate XML with ASP! A must buy!

Not up to expectations.
I thought the author would actually REVIEW the outlet malls, not just tell us where they are (you can get that for free on the Internet!) He warns that not all "outlets" really offer great bargains -- but you have to check 'em all out yourself to find out which ones do.

And guess what -- he says you can get great prices at Sams, KB Toys, and Tuesday Morning. Well, "duh".
