The Best Book on the Subject
If you need accurate and practial information about old lamps and light fixtures, this is the best book on the market. I refer to it all the time! The pictures are of excellent quality and the writing is clear and concise.

A "Must Own" For Your Library
If you are looking for a book which has both an overview of different kinds of late 19th century and early 20th century American lighting and some practical advice on both buying and restoration; this is the book for you. It doesn't have everything; but a lot of good information, beautiful pictures and a price guide are included in its 142 pages. I like the way she has both original catalogue pictures and photographs. It's the best single book on the subject I've been able to find!

Just the Book I have been looking for
As a professional Restorer of Antique Lighting Nadja's book is an astounding and invaluable resourse ,not only for identifying and pricing , but the tips on restoration have been a help as well. When one has a very strong interest { as I have} in antiques it is very exciting to find a resource like Nadja's books. Charming story and beautiful illustrations
If you love cats and the work of the late artist Herman Maril, an American artist of national reputation, this is a charming book you will want to add to your collection. If you have ever wondered how an artist translates what he sees in the world around him into pictures on canvas; here is a story that will teach you how an artist works and cause you to chuckle at the same time. Great for children age 5 to 100.

It has a valued place on my shelf!
I really like this book as a general reference. Great visuals and wonderful aesthetic. Great definition of "Fluid Lamps". Using color photographs and rare catalog material, this book concentrates on domestic lighting, making this an important book for home restorers and decorators seeking to capture an authentic look in their homes. The informative text and history of the American lighting industry makes it a welcome, valuable addition to the libraries of historians, collectors, and others interested in the development of American design and technology. Advanced researchers may express disappointed but for a general overview you'll want it for your library. It has a welcomed place on my shelf.

A Good Overview of the History of Lighting
Filled with beautiful photographs and catalogue pictures, this lovely hardback book is packed with useful information about antique lighting in the United States. Focusing on lighting for domestic household use, Ms. Maril skillfully explains how the evolution in technology of producing light, influenced the development of lighting styles.
Although the current price guide should be updated and the quality of some of the catalogue reproduction could be improved, this is the best reference book available on the sibject. I highly recommend purchasing this book for your library.

The only book of its kind
Few books are available which cover the subject of late 19th and early 20th century lighting. I found this book to be rich with information and very useful in identifying some of the pieces I have collected over the years. Other than, "Antique Lamp Buyer's Guide", also by Ms. Maril, there is little reference material for collectors so this is definitely a book worth owning.
