Our Moment of Chance is Fleeting. . .
SO! The Cry of the Eagle has sounded, what does this mean? Quite simply, that humanity has come of age and now must take responsibility for its actions in playing a truly meaningful role in materializing the full awareness of the dreamers of mankind, for this is their intent. How to do so, where to go? By learning to LIVE, rather than exist, by under-stading that there is no-where to go, which means one is now-here. By listening to the heart and using the world as a mirror reflecting our own inner self. The Toltec Teaching Series that nagal Theun Mares is writing serves as a beacon light for those of us who sense that world needs are so dire and that only WE can turn them around. At a certain level, the premise that "if we change and uplift ourselves so to must the world around us" is all we need in order to cause our bucket to overflow, our life to be-come filled with many richnesses and many joys. But here is the practical use of Theun's books, particularly this one. Writing this volume in 3 easy to grasp, yet challenging to implement strategies, the apprentice or reader is guided into taking action that leads to knowledge in the fundamental heart of the Toltec legacy. These 3 parts, or steps, are - (1) Living the Life of the Warrior: Transmutation. (2) Erasing Personal History: Transformation. (3) Dreaming: Transfiguration. This really amounts to embracing death for it is not possible to give birth to a new being, a new life, a new world, without first burying that which is old and out-dated, including the perception we have of ourselves. To create a life that is forever new and nascent, requires a destruction of the old, our old way of viewing the world. Upon reading this book and indeed the reviews written here, I am led to wonder of the examples provided in the world today. This includes my own. There is something stirring and hope-ful about the camaraderie found with those who walk the Path with Heart, and to this extent, where are these people who write these great reviews? Hello! Do you hear me? Particularly this Gagliano chap, whose words are quite poetic and chilling to the bone. I wonder if there is some "Toltec Pub" in which men and women explore the teachings together? Yes, a Hunters Lodge, that is where I shall meet you, ANY of you who are reading this NOW. There we shall drink a toast to LIFE, NOW, LOVE and WARMTH. What is a life without Friendship, without Honour, without Fluidity? A cold and barren life. So COME FRIEND! "Roll the dice of life, if you care to live, friend! If you dare to die!" For the Spirit has knocked on our door, and life will never be the same again. . .

With Warm Regards,

Jared Roy Windhauser

Toltecs Assemble! A review of Cry of The Eagle
Most of us first came into contact with the Toltec Tradition through the works of Carlos Castaneda whose chronicles of his apprenticeship under the Nagal Don Juan Matus have become known worldwide. But while Mr. Castaneda was a trained anthropologist, his works are largely biographical. As fascinating as they are, as tantalizing as they are in their implications for the future of humanity, the books are difficult to use as teaching tools for those readers interested in following the Warrior's Path. Herein lies the great importance of Theun Mares' books for the serious student of the the Toltec teachings. For with the publication of Return of The Warriors, Mr. Mares, a Nagal of the third attention, began the formidable task of bringing forth a series of texts designed for practicle use. In every way, these books not only corroborate the teachings of Don Juan, they elaborate upon them in great detail. I cannot imagine walking the Path With A Heart without them. Cry of The Eagle is the second volume in the series, and, like its predecessor, it is a gift to be savored. It inspired me; it awed me, and, most importantly, it challenged my view of the world. The title of the book is as important as the work itself. Simply stated, The Cry of The Eagle is an occurence signifying the knock of the spirit, not for a single individual, but for all of humanity. For untold generations the teachings were an oral tradition passed along through various Toltec lineages, each separated from the rest to insure their survival until such time as mankind reached the necessary level of development to receive them. This time has come. Thus, as Mr. Mares states, the Doctrine of Separate Development no longer holds. Now the time has come for the teachings to be made available for all those who wish to benefit from them. Needless to say, this is a momentous occasion. The Cry of The Eagle takes us ever deeper in to the Toltec Teachings, particularly those dealing with left side awareness. Topics covered in this book include, The Art of Dreaming, Stopping the Internal Dialogue and the Four Natural Enemies. Mr. Mares elucidates the most recondite material with a clarity and precision that is almost alarming. I cannot recommend Cry of The Eagle strongly enough. This is humanities hour of power and the train is leaving the station. Don't delay. There is much to learn and time is of the essence.

Toltec cosmology primer reviewed
Cry of the Eagle, Volume 2 of the Toltec teaching series by Theun Mares, gave me a good bird's eye view of the cosmology behind the practical teachings of the Toltec tradition. Theun unleashed a torrent of information whereby I was able to put meaning and purpose with the techniques learned in the first volume, Return of the Warriors. This book covers a broad range of the Toltec teachings and yet, as the author tells us, this book is but only a fraction of the teachings that he is systematically bringing forward to humanity. I especially benefited from the chapters covering belief in oneself, stopping internal dialogue, and the entire section on the art of dreaming.

Cry of the Eagle is a well-written and scholarly manual for living the Toltec teachings, and it is very easy to read. Theun put enough examples in this book, just as he did in the first, for me to get a FEEL for the teachings and the techniques. It was because of the extensive examples that I was able to correlate much of the material to what I was experiencing in my day to day living and make the needed adjustments to break free from some long-standing habit patterns.

I was very much convinced while reading and working with Cry of the Eagle that this was definitely not like anything that I had read to date. It was empowering and uplifting, and it gave me the much-needed impetus to change my conditions for the better. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to break free from the inertia of old habits: mental, emotional, or physical. I especially recommend it for those who already have a penchant for things "Toltec".

Sincerely, Leonardo

Directions 4: The Dream
Mists of Dragon Lore is the third volume in the Toltec Teachings series by Theun Mares. In this volume Theun continues "disclosing the inner teachings of this ancient tradition" and he specifically "reveals the true nature and application of The Mastery of Awareness and the Art of Stalking." As a nagal, or leader of warriors, Theun teaches us how we can live our lives as warriors of Freedom and gain immeasurable benefit from any and all challenges in our lives.

This volume is a clear and pragmatic treatise on the common dream of humanity, how to wake up in this dream, and ultimately how to achieve freedom in this awakened state. Other topics such as shifting the focus, true combing of shadows, going beyond the veil of time, and safely accessing the 4th dimension are also covered.

I say, with all my heart, that Mists of Dragon Lore has been one of the most important books that I have read. It has been, and is, very instrumental in my life as I am discovering my full potential. I have read the teachings and I am applying the principles covered and, without a doubt, my transformation is directly proportional to my living these teachings.

This book is the quintessential manual for anyone who is serious about waking up in this common dream and "surfing life's challenges with skill and joy."

I more than highly recommend this book!

The Mists of Dragon Lore; The Toltec Teachings (Volume 3)
Practical guidelines for "waking up in the dream." Not some "pie-in-sky" theory but a here-in-the-now discipline, a path, a way of life. Shows the reader how to handle everyday events from life to gain knowledge that, step by step, progress you along the Path of Freedom. Provides the tools to help you recognize and break free from social conditioning. Shows you how to let go of your self-view and world-view that keeps you trapped. Helps you look at the small details of your life and your emotions to find out what makes you tick and why. This book is all about putting the techniques to practical use in everyday life - the beauty of it is that everything you need already exists in your life - the reader is simply given the means of working with the challenges in his/her present life, right here, right now. If you are serious about taking charge of your life instead of allowing life to happen to you, and you are willing to roll up your sleeves and do some hard work, Mr. Mares provides the tools for gaining your freedom. If all you intend to do is read, may I suggest a good fiction book instead. For the serious student, this book lays the ground work and provides the basic techniques that every apprentice of the Toltec Teachings on the Path of Freedom must know. But be prepared to do the leg work - there are no freedom fairies with wands - but through LIVING these teachings, what you have until now only hoped for and dreamed of is within your reach.

Guide-book to true Self
It is amazing to observe how people understand what the Path of Freedom has to be. Most of them are fascinated by the field notes of Carlos Castaneda, paying very little attention to the essence of what the mighty nagual Juam Matus is teaching. Most of them think that the Path of Freedom is a journey to Disney Land, not noticing that this is a journey to nowhere. Looking forward to meet with magic and sorcerers, allies and flyers they do not see numerous mirrors along this Path reflecting their illusions, frustrations, social conditioning. But there are those who have passed further on the Path of Freedom experiencing and LIVING according to the Teachings of Toltecs and only they are able to bring to man-kind true Knowledge as clear and pure as possible. For me Theun Mares is one of these MEN and this is clear from his books written in scientific language, with heart and with full awareness. His works are guide-books to one's TRUE Self, helping to learn how to work with emotions, with mirrors, with relations. How to live and to be really happy in every environment. Theun never says that the Path of Freedom is an easy and secure way of leaving. Through his books he is teaching that this is the only way of man-kind to grasp the meaning of its existence and the role it plays in the Universe.

If I need a secure hand to lean on on my journey to Freedom I will choose Theun's.

Finding the Heart
In the journey towards self-realization, SOWF serves as a springboard that catapults the reader to move beyond the "intellectual masturbation" and romanticism that many so-called spiritual books have regurgitated and repackaged. Within these pages are the tried and tested tools that are most practical and applicable to our daily lives.

How do we affect change to promote growth and evolution within ourselves so that, in turn, we may assist humanity in moving towards its own collective maturity? How does our own state of mind, when lost in chaos and confusion, affect the very interrelationship of life on a grander scale? How do we utilise our folly to gain a better understanding of the concept that life doesn't just happen, but instead should be lived and cherished as the most exhilarating adventure of all.

This book will make you remember.

Unfolding the Wings of Perception
Unlike many, my discovery of Theun Mares and the Toltec Teachings did not come through the Castaneda camp. In fact, to this day I still have not read straight through any one of Dr. Castaneda's books.

In any case, after I read "Return of the Warriors" by Theun I quickly ordered all of his books which up until that point did not include "Shadows of Wolf Fire."

It was with great anticipation that I began Theun's latest work on the Toltec Teachings: "Shadows of Wolf Fire." And I was never disappointed. In fact, moved to tears in many parts, puzzled and somewhat overwhelmed in others, I found in this work
answers to many of the questions raised within me from reading his earlier volumes of the Toltec Teachings.

In a world so riddled with strife, so fragmented by separative behavior and thinking and so very far from the potential magic inherent within each of us, Theun's newest book is a joy. It makes me glad to be alive and thankful for each day as I work to unfold the mystery which is me.

Life Changing
It is very difficult to say more than I highly recommend "Shadows Of Wolf Fire". I eagerly awaited this book for months after reading the others in the series three times each. So much so, I purchased a Limited Edition Leather Bound book. That should tell you something. This is not a book to be read without first reading the other three. My recomendation to any-one, would be to read Volume 1, "Return Of The Warriors". Personally, I don't see how anyone can read the first volume without eagerly consuming the other three. Anything else I could say seems to place me in a "catch 22" situation, which you can only understand after reading and begining to live the wonderful, mysterious teachings that flow through them. I have never met Theun Mares personally or participated in any of his workshops, but I am truly honored to be a recipient of his purpose. To recomend the book in some way seems futile for I know that all that will read it have all been already determined by fate. In that regard, all I have to say is "thank you so much Thuen Mares."

At Last, Actionable Information on How to Create Happiness
Are you on that endless search to find a book that will help you find true happiness in your life? I have read many books in search of this, and the answers are here in Theun Mares' "This Darned Elusive Happiness".

While other books are heavy on theory and short on actionable ideas, "This Darned Elusive Happiness" cuts to the chase and puts the information you need right in the palm of your hand. This little volume contains deceptively simple wisdom that our schools and parents forgot to teach us.

The content is likely to challenge your thinking in some areas, and this is exactly what is needed in today's world where the old rules we were taught simply are not working. Has anyone explained to us what it truly means to be Male? To be Female? To relate and cooperate with the people in our lives and the world around us? To manifest true happiness? Bring an open mind and test one of the ideas for yourself in your life to see if it does not make a profound difference.

For those who want more in the way of theory, this book provides a good, high-level overview and entry point into Mares' more detailed writings where he presents theory along with practice.

Want to really get right down to it? Flip straight to Chapter Seven. It contains the ten key rules to enjoying successful relationships. That chapter alone is worth the price of the book.

Simple but not easy.
When it comes to the thorny topic of handling relationships, only the simpleton fails to find the gifts in being simple. Then too, simple does not imply being easy. If you find this book uplifting and want a more challenging read, go on to read the other books by Theun Mares. Then come back and re-read this one. I did; and I found this one to be just as challenging. However, by putting into practice the various techniques, I have found that my relationships have been transformed beyond measure.

Invaluable guidance in living a simple and happy life
I recommend this book to everyone who wants to enrich their life. Although I study his other, more complex and involved books, I still return to this one when I need a dose of reality. It always blows me away when I realize the simplicity of the toltec teachings to freedom, or the simplicity of being happy. It's all about relationships. And like everything else, making relationships work requires skill, which is only achieved through living and learning.

This book offers us some invaluable guidance in learning how to live a fulfilled and happy life.

A guide-book to true living
From the first pages of this book I was filled with a strong desire, the forgotten desire to find my maleness, to become true male. And even if I didn't know these words that time, I was aware that what I felt was something that I gave up long time ago because of not finding any place of it in my life. So, I knew that I am already on my quest for maleness, but then I was caught up in the expectation that it will be a fast journey to some place. I was reading too fast never made the required exercises and at the end was baffled why the book doesn't quite work for me.

But with the time I started to look around and investigate the men and women around me and my relationships with them. I was quick to find why it looks so impossible to live like a true male. For example, how many man hold dear the emotional crap they derived from their mothers, saying 'This is my emotionality!'?

To live the teachings imparted in this book is not so sophisticated, provided that one holds to his own feelings and desires and not to the prejudices of the society and finds the required perseverance to cultivate his self-discipline. Though the rewards are vast not only for the man concerned, but for all around him.

If you believe that just reading one book no matter how brilliant it is will make you true male then just enjoy the style of this book or find some other that will prove to you that you are already true male. But if you are in search of practical ways to get closer to what you always felt was missing in your life, then with time you will become more and more mystified by your great fortune to find this book exactly when you needed it.

Clearing the confusion
There are many books out there about the differences between men and women, but none of them are as lucid or as foundational as this one, and its companion volume, Unveil the Mysteries of the Female. In reading this book I got PRACTICAL guidance on how to be a true male, and at the same time how to honour the women in my life the way they deserve to be honoured. If all men took the advice in this book, they would be happy, creative, and vital. They would grow into the kind of men the world needs to rise to the challenge of finding solutions to our problems. What's more, the women in these men's lives would be willing to back him through thick and thin.

I am in the process of transforming my life with the help of this book. It gets my highest recommendation. Thank you, Theun Mares.

Beyond the face value
A strange, and thus a very interesting book! One is never sure of what he is feeling or thinking when reading this book. As if you are walking along a Mebius leaf - you make a full circle and you find yourself staying on the opposite side of the surface. You have to walk one more circle in order to find yourself in a point, familiar to you. But this is a characteristic feature of all books, written by Theun Mares, and especially of those, concerning relationship between men and women - the most painful area on the body of man-kind. Why is this point so painful? Remember the story of Adam and Eve - it reflects some thing that has happened long, long ago and that has horrible consequences for the creative interaction of male and female aspects of awareness. We are not able to comprehend the whole truth of this parable, but at least we have to TRY to understand why men and women are so often unhappy in their life and collaboration. Theun Mares is the first who is making efforts to unveil the truth of sexes before the society. And it is not a surprise that his attempts will meet the anger and resistance of different minorities and groups of people, who have curved comprehension of what the role of sexes is in the creative process of life. The book has not to be taken in its face value. Theun Mares is a powerful stalker and he knows that the purpose of the word is to grasp the meaning. When the meaning is grasped the word is forgotten. That is why unless the message in these two books about male and female aspects will be grasped the sense of uneasiness will be presented in the reader

THE CHALLENGE OF FEMININITY
UNVEIL THE MYSTERIES OF THE FEMALE BY THEUN MARES A REVIEW BY ANTHONY GAGLIANO

This is a controversial book. This will be especially true for those readers who grew to adulthood during a time when the woman's movement has forced all of us to reconsider previously held views concerning the role of women in civilized society. But the battle for equality and an end to male dominance leaves one important question left unanswered: What is the true relationship between men and women? Are we "equal" or complimentary? Is the universe unisexual? Is androgyny the new ideal for the new age? Are there no differences between male and female beyond the obvious physical distinctions? These are the questions Toltec seer and author Theun Mares answers in Unveil the Mysteries Of The Female. But not everyone will happy with those answers. According to Mr. Mares, a Toltec Nagal of the third attention, men create and women nurture. Furthermore, he asserts that only by supporting the male in her life can a woman achieve her feminine potential. Equally controversial is the idea that in a relationship, whether professional or romantic, it is the male who, as an arbiter of the known, must provide the lead. While this may all seem archaic, these statements are all compatible with the tenets of the world's major religions, none of which espouse androgyny as an ideal. As I said, this is a controversial and thought provoking book, one that will make many a woman think about using it for the purpose of starting a bonfire. The male reader, however, if he is brave enough or foolish enough as the case may be, might wish to consider giving a copy Mr. Mare's book as a belated Valentine's Day gift to his significant female other. Just be prepared to sleep on the couch -- particularly if your wife wears the pants in the family.

Increasing The Odds
I once heard that a woman over 40 has a greater chance of getting struck by lightning, than getting married.

Not the best of odds. After reading just about every book available on soul mates, twin souls and relationships in that obsessive need to find answers to my still unmarried state, I came across "Unveil the Mysteries of the Female" by Theun Mares.

But to be honest, first I read his book "The Quest for Maleness." For obvious reasons.

"Unveil the Mysteries of the Female" hasn't delivered my perfect mate on a silver platter; however, it did help me to clearly understand the whys of my two failed marriages and indeed who I wanted to become: a true female, not a woman competing against the men in her life.

This is not a book for the faint of heart or for women looking for yet more ways to manipulate a man into a relationship. It is a new look at an age old mystery. The female. I recommend it to all women and to all men who are willing to make that leap into the unknown.

A book thats a tool for life
In 'Unveil The Mysteries of the Female' the Toltec Nagal, Theun Mares discusses the nature of what it means to be female. By presenting the nine myths of the female, and by presenting a clear way forward I feel that Theun Mares has articulated a lot of deep instinctive feelings about gender that I have been trying to grasp and understand.

I have always felt that men and women were equal but fundamentally different in their approach to themselves and the world in a way that goes beyond any gender based conditioning of cultural origin.

I can understand how easy it is to mis-hear the message in this book, as a female my first response to the concept of following a male lead was to respond with a defensive attitude and say " I am not giving up my purpose and life for a man".

Since then I have realised that I am not required to do so. My understanding of the teachings is that I choose to align myself with a male whose purpose I sense I can follow, because it is the same as my purpose.

I like the sound of being a True Female and I return to this book again and again as a resource and for inspiration.

An Introduction To The Toltec Teachings
In the fall of 2000 I traveled to upstate New York to attend a retreat sponsored by Theun Mares, a Toltec nagal of the third attention. I did so in large part based on a series of books he had written, the first of which,Return of The Warriors, I had discovered quite accidently while casually browsing in a bookstore. My first reaction upon reaching for the book was one of skepticism. Was this another clever author attempting to jump on the Toltec bandwagon? I read the first few pages fully expecting by built in crap detector to go off, but it did not. Quite to the contrary, I left the store with the book convinced that I had found what I had longed hoped existed: an in depth examination of the the Toltec legacy. Like many of us, I was first introduced to the Toltec teachings through the books of Carlos Castaneda and potential readers of Mr. Mares will ask how his books mesh with the elegant words of Don Juan. They do so impeccably. Furthermore, they are texts, handbooks for the would be apprentice to the warrior's path. This book along with the others in the series, Cry of The Eagle and The Mists Of Dragon Lore, will answer many of the questions left surrounding the Toltec legacy, including its origins in ancient Atlantis. Mr. Mares writes with a clarity and conviction that cannot be denied. There is a ring of truth in these books that is very evocative, like an echo traveling silently through time. I came away convinced that I had been in the presence of one who knows where of he speaks. This does not happen every day. To the many loyal readers of Mr. Castaneda, may I suggest that a ladder has many rungs and that The Return Of The Warriors is another step in the unveiling of the warrior's path. With this in mind, I cannot recommend Theun Mares' books strongly enough. I can say frankly and without undue sentiment that they are gifts in the truest sense of the word.

A Mesage the rings True
Is it obvious from the other "responses" (more like reactions) that the "reader" did not read very closely, if at all? This book gives a full account of the origin of Toltecs, who they were, and the role that the Toltec Nagal Theun Mares is playing in the world today. The Toltec teachings are the divine birthright of every individual, and in this respect, did NOT originate from Don Juan Matus. Furthermore, Castaneda got hooked on the sorcery side of the teachings, thus did not complete his apprenticeship, and writes from a completely skewed and selective perception.

The path to true knowledge stems from personal experience. In the Toltec teaching series that Mr. Mares is writing, he is, for the first time ever, revealing the practical applications of this ancient and all but forgotten tradition and as a result of his full training, his experience. If you wish to read fantasy and crap, read Castaneda (but don't forget to notice the truth in the words of Don Juan), but if you wish to learn what it means to claim knowledge, freedom, and power, then this book is certainly for you.

How could a book that fully explains the techniques of recapitulation and not-doing, as well as providing practical examples of working with intent and emotion, be viewed as boring? Clearly these "readers" are only paying lip service to what it means to claim true knowledge.

Dare to live!
For many years I was enchanted by the Toltec world through the eyes of Carlos Castaneda. Then I discovered that there were more books on the subject by Ken Eagle Feather, Victor Sanchez and Florinda Donner. Still it wasn't until I discovered the works of Theun Mares that I began the process of feeling this as a Path with Heart and not as a romantic notion. This book changed my life and put everything Don Juan was trying to tell Castaneda into it's proper perspective. In my opinion this book is better than all of Castaneda's books combined for anyone who is seriously willing to tread the Warrior's Path.

And if you are willing to dare upon this wonderful path of joy and freedom which is also a path of no return, then know that you are not alone, and if you look hard enough, you will find many great friends along this lonely path who share your passion and love for life.

Dare to live my friends, Blaise Ryan
