A great read with eerie similarities to today's headlines.
The weirdest thing about this book is that the beginning is so true-to-life. The book was written several years ago, but the story is very much in sync with what is going on in the world today. This is my fifth Marcinko book and it's one of his best. It's his second fiction work, a follow up to Rouge Warrior: Red Cell, which is the main reason I didn't give it five stars. The action scenes in Green Team are much more exciting than Red Cell, but the plot just doesn't stand up to the latter. It develops at a break neck speed, but its quality fluctuates right up to the end. First time Marcinko readers will probably get hooked, just like I did with Rogue Warrior: Task Force Blue, only to be more pleased with the discovery of his first and second books. Marcinko's crossing of the thin line between reality and fiction might annoy some readers who are not used to his style, but I think it's a very original welcomed breather from the "2+2=4" formulas of other action books. Marcinko is not the writer Tom Clancy is, but then again, Tom Clancy is not the warrior Marcinko is.

Hold on to your skivvies, it's time to ROCK 'n MARCINKO...
Marcinko lives large and plays hard. This book, along with the rest of the Rogue Warrior Series, is hard hitting and action packed. This dude does it all, says it all, and doesn't take crap from no one. Execellent reading for someone whose tired of the slow moving far fetched action of most fiction books out there. I read Red Cell just three months ago, and I've read almost all his books to date. It's KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) read the book and get hooked!!! Anyone for a Bombay?

100% pure testosterone.
I'll admit to this guilty pleasure: I love the Rogue Warrior books. Not because they're great literature, but because they're just plain fun. I'm a Marine combat vet, so I can usually detect the (very) fuzzy line between military fact and fiction, but with Marcinko's books I throw up my hands in the amphibious salute and just go with it. Demo Dick's literary swagger is intoxicating, and his larger than life character is THE male archetype. All of us guys want to pump iron at Rogue Manor, throw down the double Bombays, and go shooting and looting with the SEALs' best.

It's not "the best book I've ever read," nor is it the SPECWAR primer that Rogue Warrior is. But for some unadulterated macho fun, Green Team (like the others in the series) can't be beat.

a must for any business person
marcinko didn't survive through all he did without knowing how to lead and improve. turns out those same sills that enabled him to war with others have helped him become a success in the business world. all 10 points in this book not only will help you in the business world, but also in your own life.

Don't Make Excuses, be a Leader!
This book is entertaining and well written. The stories used to illustrate the points made are usually an adventure in themselves. Richard Marcinko practices what he preaches and this book will tell you how to do the same. This is an easy to read guide to being successful and the best book of its' kind I have ever read. This gives the reader the no excuses, no BS way to succeed. Buy this book!

Don't Wait for Opportunity to Knock--Kick the Door Down!
In his first business book, Marcinko showed you how to dig into yourself and find the qualities that make a leader. Having devleoped those qualities, Marcinko now shows you how to go out and engage your opponents in the business world and win! Through a life time of hard won lessons and illustrative stories from business, Marcinko explains what the principle is and then shows you how it can be applied. Whether you have real snipers shooting at you from a distant tree line, or the sleazier kind who try to sabotage your corporate success, Marcinko shows you how to meet them and beat them. You don't do it by sitting at your desk, you do it by treating each day as a battle, in which YOU dictate the rules of engagement. Because the cowards who snipe at you in the office are lacking the one trait you will already have thanks to these books: The character and guts to lay everything on the line to make yourself successful. This book and Marcinko's earlier management tome should make a nice boxed gift set for any manager or aspiring manager.

A Good Book!
This was the first Rogue Warrior novel that started the chain if many others to come. Dick Marcinko details his life in the military from beginning to the end. His time in his early years made for interesting reading. I also enjoyed reading of his ascent to the position of a Navy Seal. He was also sucessful in telling of his many adventures while a Navy Seal. You had no doubt that you were hearing the voice of experience here. The section of this book that details his trial and time in prison is also well covered. This was a good way to start the Rogue Warrior series. This was an entertaining and informative book. Be sure to read it.

This book is a DO NOT MISS!
Marcinko is the real deal! Whoever isn't making a movie out of this book is missing the boat. The former SEAL Commander tells it like it is. This straight-no chaser account of SpecWar Navy and historic events leaves the reader's jaw hanging open. His views on teamwork and unit integrity should be the Golden Rule, not the exception. This book is not for the meek. Read Rogue Warrior and your eyes shall be opened.

It only takes 5 seconds......
Firstly, let's cut to the chase on this one. Richard Marcinko takes you through a realm that very few of us will ever get to experience. This book is well written, but even more so, it is well-LIVED!! The factual information in this book is astounding, considering the action packed pages read more like a movie. Richard Marcinko proves to be the ultimate warrior in a time when warriors are few, yet greatly needed. Anyone who even hints that this book was uninteresting didn't take the required 5 seconds to read the opening two sentences. If you are a military history buff, this is a definate buy.

Entertaining application of Marcinko's SpecWar learnings
It's common enough for business leaders to resort to military metaphors for "conquering the marketplace", and rare enough for them to be able to speak with credibility in the same fashion. An interesting blend of military aphorism and business practice, this book will probably only appeal to those who have read other Rogue Warrior works - but take the rules to heart, for they are true on any battlefield you may face. Corporate and military organizations are both often plagued with politicking and similar counterproductive BS, and Richard Marcinko famously decries all that to focus on results - as any leader should.

Leadership Secrets Of The Rogue Warrior
This book has lead me to take an agressive approach toward the path my life is to take. Commander Marcinko makes me wish I could have served under him in the "Teams" and I want to work for him now. It also outlines the way leaders should conduct themselves "Honestly". No symantics, no prima donna garbage. " This is our job guys lets do it!"ΓΏ

Navy SEAL Strategies for the Businessman
Marcinko spent over 30 years working with and leading Navy SEAL special warfare units. His best selling "Rogue Warrior" series shared some of his experiences and the successes and struggles he experienced throughout his career. In this book, Marcinko re-visits successful (and unsuccessful) leadership techniques that are surprisingly just as applicable to the everyday business world as they are to the jungles of South East Asia. Not unlike the "suit and tie samurai," Japanese businessmen who read the "Book of Five Rings" (warrior strategy written by legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi in the 1500's)and apply the lessons to business life, the reader of this book can find ways to fight the "battles" of the business world. One example from the book is, "...People just blithely assume that the main reason they don't achieve their goal is that someone ELSE beat them to it. ...If you finish second it's not BECAUSE someone else finished first. That person's victory as just a "side effect" of your failure. If you lost, it was because you didn't sufficiently punish yourself in training, and didn't focus your full force of your being on victory." A refreshing perspective on the business "battlefield."

Entertaining fiction, with a hint of reality
For those of you who have read Dick's first book, and endured his earlier sequals, you should find this book easier reading and very entertaining. The plot follows the same formula as "Green Team", but with much less of the history and explanations contained in Richard Marcinko's first two sequals to the original "Rogue Warrior". Nevertheless, a first time Marcinko reader can thouroughly enjoy the action without the earlier background, but I advise you to read the Rogue Warrior as a pre-cursor to reading "Task Force Blue". You'll find nestled in this book the admission that this book, as well as the earlier sequals are pure fiction (hint you must read the first one, or doom on you). As a collector of the hard bound editions of all his books, its hard to be critical. Dick, if you read this, you know the direction to go in now, just don't include a section where you consider e-mail book reviewers to be targeted pus(nuts)

Dickie does major damage to evil do'ers
Dick Marcinko and his band of merry men continue the legacy of beer drinking, nasty talkin', hard hitting action in the pursuit of the evil doer's of the good ole' U.S. of A. Just so I don't give away the plot and have Dickie visit me at my own abode some night with a C4 suprise package, I'll just say this adventure tracks right along with his usual style of commentary and Navy SEAL tactics until the bad guys end up properly chastised (and dead). If I didn't have it on good authority that Marcinko really is as nasty as he presents himself to be, I might wonder if these guys really are presented in a realistic manner. Since I DO know an ex-SEAL that IS acquainted with Dick, I guess I have to believe these guys really are nasty bad a-- m----r f-----s that I hope never to meet except maybe at a book signing fair. (Please Dick, if this review offends in ANY way, I profusely apologize and promise only to read the book and never write again.

Marcinko Strikes Again!
This is another thriller in the Rogue Warrior series. Through his experiences as a U.S. Navy Seal Marcinko has been enabled to write some very entertaining books. His vast knowledge of types of weapons and special operations manuevers make his books quite believable. In this book Marcinke and his troops are matched up against an evil ruthless billionaire. Despite the man's over- whelming wealth Marcinko is still able to prevail. As usual there is nonstop action. The ending of this book is also very unique. Be sure to read this book. You will be greatly entertained.Dick Marcinko has written another good book.

Awesome
I don't normally read novels but I made an exception with this one and I am very glad I did. Marcinko does a great job at bringing the reader into the story. As I was reading I couldn't help but visualize what he was telling. The book is advertised as a novel but the type of information contained in this book makes you wonder how Marcinko learned it? I read this shortly after Rogue Warrior and it was a great follow up. This is one of the only books that absolutely MUST be on the big screen. Bruckheimer, if you aren't going to make the movie give the script to somebody who will.

Great Action whether it is true or not
Marcinko is a genius in SpecWar. Even his enemies would admit that he is one of the best warriors that the USA has ever produced. Marcinko has lived it, unlike Clancy or Coonts. He is a true warrior. This book and everyone in the Rogue Warrior series proves that he is a professional killer during conflict. If you are a whimp don't read his books, they are not for you. Go read something by Jackie Collins or Steven King.

THE BOOK YOU JUST CANT PUT DOWN
THIS IS THE BEST BOOK YOU WILL EVER READ THIS IS ONE OF THOSE BOOKS YOU JUST CANT PUT DOWN , IT'S LIKE YOU ARE IN THERE WITH THEM GOING ALONG FOR THE ACTION. IF YOU DODNT READ MUCH THIS IS A GOOD WAY TO START YOU CANT PUT IT DOWN ONCE YOU START. YOU JUST WANT TO GO ON, AND KEEP READING. I MUST WARN YOU THIS BOOK WILL KEEP YOU ON THE EDGE OF YOUR SEAT, I THINK NO MOVIE IN THAT CATEGORY CAN COMPARE TO THIS BOOK, FROM THE MOMENT YOU START IT'S LIKE YOU STARTED A MISSION AND YOU HAVE TO GO ON AND FINISH IT. I HAVE TO ADMIT I NEVER READ BOOKS BEFORE BUT AFTER MY BUDDY MIKE RECCOMEND THIS BOOK TO ME I WAS HOOKED ON IT. I ALSO LIKE TO SAY, TO CAPT. RICHARD MARCINKO I HAVE ALL RESPECT FOR YOU AND YOUR BOOKS...........AYE AYE SKIPPER.

Seal Team Alpha Delivers
Marcinko delivers, once again, with Seal Team Alpha. The story picks up where previous books have left off, offering the reader a familar style that is as much of an education on tactics and the special operation community, as it is an exciting story. Marcinko utlizes a writing style that involves the reader in all aspects of the plot. Often The author will break into the story to explain something of historical or strategic significance to the plot, this allows even a neophite to the technothriller to feel comfortable and educated about an often secretive world. Having read much material relating to the special operations community, I can vouch for the acuracy of the methods, equipment and tactics used in this book. The stories are well crafted and fun to read. Marcinko's "Rouge" humor, although shocking, is quite entertaining. This is a no holds barred, street fight of a book with no scared cows and no end to the action.

Great Book, the best since Designation Gold!
Marcinko is a Kick A** Commander! He writes books true to life, on intense subjects. He has been places and seen things that most people have only read about in books such as this one. His books really keep you on the edge, and all you want to do is read more! Exciting and action packed just as all of his previous books!

Marcinko is the king of hard-hitting action.
Marcinko does it again. Fun and action-packed, his books grab you by the balls and never let go. One of those authors who repeatedly gets great reviews for great books. As a former Navy Seal, I can tell you that the things he does are indeed true and can be taken at face value. For all the folks out there who want another non-fiction book from Demo Dick, you must all quit being idiots and remember that the Navy that spent 60 million dollars trying to put him in prison are the same folks making sure he doesn't give away any dirty little secrets in his novels. So I think another non-fiction book is out of the question.

Not as good as his other books.
Designation Gold was not as good as Marcinko's other books. He contradicted some of his comments from earlier books. Also, it seems this was written by a different author...it just didn't read as well as earlier books. But it was still entertaining.

Vintage Rogue Warrior, taut, suspenseful and exciting
To readers of the Rogue Warrior series, Richard Marchinko is the undisputed King of SpecWar novels. This new book only reinforces that idea. Careful examination of the book as in the other titles gives you numerous nuggets of information. Not only is the novel exciting but those who can read between the lines find a treasure trove of information.

Vintage Marcinko
Demo-Dick is back in rare form with an indepth story and plenty of in-your-face action from the king of specwar adventures. Not for dip-dunks or technocrats, but Marcinko-ites will recognise it as his best work since the original Rogue Warrior

"Hard-Nose Style . . . OK Action."
When mini-atomic bombs go missing in Germany, it's up to Richard Marchinko's SEAL team to get 'em back. Enlisting the help of a hush-hush German counter-terrorist team, both groups go up against ultranationalist businessman Lothar Beck, who wants to create his own Reich. The book read like a personal memoir than your typical action-adventure book. All told from Marchinko's POV. Some peaks and valleys in the story. I did enjoy the insider information on SEAL missions and Marchinko's rather nitty-gritty thoughts on the current state of the U.S. military and the people in the White House. Very, VERY *ahem* colorful expressions used. Very good drama when the ol' Rogue & co. infiltrate Beck's HQ. The final assault on the Beck castle was great! Especially the big, bloody brawl between Marchinko & a former GSG-9 commando turned Beck stooge. One problem I had was sometimes Marchinko's reflections interrupted the flow of some of the action scenes. Still, overall, a pretty decent book.

Great Story! Predictable but great addition to the series.
Option:Delta has every thing that Marcinko's fans have come to expect from his novels. Fast paced, gritty action, accurate details of specwar techniques, well researched locations, and a general feeling of fun and comraderie between Marcinko and his team of shooters. Although the plot of Dick meets Billonaire, Dick threatens Billionare, Dick kills Billionare is getting old, the book is still an enjoyable read from cover to cover. Keep up the good work, Dick. HOO-YAH!!

"Hard hitting and Gritty!"
Mr. Macinko and co-author John Weisman once again begin the new adventures of the Rogue Warrior at double time then take the reader to an all out sprint. Option Delta like the other Rogue Warrior bestsellers, takes the reader into a shadowy world that crosses between Indiana Jones and James Bond. Murder, evil terrorist conspiracies, world domination and historical behind the truth tidbits are just some of the elements making Option Delta a hard hitting gritty action packed, in your face adventure told by a veteran SEAL whose derring-do's allow him the journalistic ability to tell it as it really happens. Option Delta once again displays the talents of Demo Dick Macinko's highly motivated group of Naval SpecWarriors as they take us along for a grand adventure of shooting and looting and elimination of Tangos-in-question, as we sit safe in our reading chairs watching the Rouge one and his merry bunch of marauders do all of the dirty work.

Could have been better.
Nowhere as good as the first two or three in the series. If he would have stuck to the main story and not put so much opinions, the book could have been better. For every two sentences of the story, two pages were his personal opinions that we have heard before.

A great read... Keep 'em comming C***Breath
Both new and avid readers of this next edition in the "Rogue Warrior" series will enjoy the mad marauder's mis-adventures with murder, mayhem and and the mafia -- Moscow style. Designation Gold, a tale all it's own, delivers a fictional yet realistic glimpse into the world of US Special Warfare's battle with Russian organized crime on a personal and international level, Demo Dickie style... And as all armchair warriors who've read Marcinko's earlier books know, it's that Sharkman of the Delta's poetically profane finesse that keeps his enemies (and ours) shouting; "Ya veh pizde!" (You'll learn what that means when you read the book, tadpole). Marcinko, I salute you. You are a true hero and have served the West well in deeds and words. Thanks for both. Keep the books comming, sir (spelled with a respectfully irreverant "C", of coarse).

exciting from start to end
i have all five rouge books and it's like being there with
