A book on ballet center work that is easy to understand.
Center work, in ballet, can always get a bit messy when practicing alone without a teacher to guide you. The instructions, along with the illustrations, are very understandable. The steps are simple, though, so an advanced student would use this book to strength weak points, rather than learn new steps. A great tool for anyone wanting to know a little about ballet.

Ballet at it's best continued!
Once again Thalia Mara lives up to high standards. This book is very informative. When reading the book she doesn't just leap into the work, but gives a small introduction to teach you about what you are actually doing. Then when the actually work comes, she is very descriptive and detailed. This is a good book for ballet students of all ages and levels in ballet.

Adv Dancers
This is a great book of adv dancers. Not for someone just starting out. Lots of step/words listed here are never taught/used in normal studio programs and may be over some dancers' heads. But it's very informational if you know what the steps are calls.

Great book. Really focuses on things you should know
this book has all tha awnsers. dont know what a pod-aduex is? its all in here.

For the Serious Ballet Student; This is #1 on my List!!!
The Language of Ballet is an extraordinary dictionary of terms and definitions for the serious ballet student. I have been dancing Ballet for 10 years and I still didn't know the correct actual deffinitions and spelling of the terms my teacher used but this book shows you everything from pictures to written definitions. I would give this book 6 stars out of 5 if I could. I highly recommend you order this wonderful dictionary of ballet.

First steps
This book was helpful in giving me a taste of ballet before making a big commitment to classes, etc. It is helpful for someone just starting ballet, with steps they can practice at home.

Ballet at its best
Thalia Mara is truly a life saver. I have purchased all of her books and they are very descriptive and informative. 1st steps to ballet is a good introduction that can give a bit of a challenge without overwelming the young ballet student. I recommend it to all ballet students, beginning, intermediate, and advanced.

Book on pointe technique
I think this is a great book for someone who has just begun pointe work and wishes to gain more information about it. It's a better book for a beginner than for one who already has pointe experince, yet some advanced dancers may gain some insight on proper pointe technique since most of us fall into some bad habits. Overall its a good book with good information!

If you aren't on pointe yet it's not very useful
I liked it but it was mostly techinques. It was a bit outdated but it would be worth your time to look through it

On Your Toes: A Review
It's unfortunate that this book is now out of print. It's an excellent source for those who are interested in learning more about the advanced moves in ballet. The illustrations, diagrams and descriptions are easily understood and there is an informative introductory chapter which outlines the hazards in allowing children who are unprepared and inexperienced to dance on their pointes before they are properly trained. It may take a bit of work to locate this book but I would strongly recommend it to those who wish to learn more about ballet and dancing sur les pointes.
