Madame Mackworth was a pioneer herself!
Now over 90 years old and living on her own in Paris, where she still is writing and speaking about her amazing life, Madame Mackworth la Chabanne du Palais (she was twice married to French marquis) traveled throughout North Africa years ago to do research on Isabelle Eberhardt. In fact, she followed in her footsteps, but not disguised as a man.

A beautifully written account, this book led the way for later travel writers and biographers.
