Fascinating book in theoretical computer science!
This book attempts to give a "lambda calculus" for objects in OOP and does a fine job in that regard. For those interested in the foundations of programming languages, this book is a "must-have". I can even see applications in it: the DICOM object standards for medical images. Definitely worth reading and worth the price.-LC (Global Mathematics, Inc)

The reborn Classic Traveller Book4 : Mercenary
This book supplements the GURPS Traveller system by describing the history, organization and tools of the mercenary's trade. Written by two veteran Traveller authors, the attention to detail is refreshing in a gaming supplement. The mercenary's life is thoroughly described in the main text and typical of the GURPS products, spiced up with lots of interesting snippets on the sidebars. New templates and new equipment will be of interest to players keen on dishing out (as mentioned in the preface) "Grade-A violence to all comers". The only (minor) fault I could find is that the sample characters are not particularly inspiring.

The original Mercenary book was arguably the most exciting of the supplements published by the now-closed Game Designers Workshop when I first started playing Traveller. This new version for GURPS Traveller is even better. Easily the first supplement I would get for the GURPS Traveller system.

Egalitarian Fantasy
This book certainly doesn't live up to its title, and is propelled mostly by the author's egalitarian fantasies, rather than the objective science presented in the Bell Curve.

Easy-to-read, yet academic, critique of The Bell Curve
The numerous authors of this tome do a fine job in their criticism of Herrnstein and Murray. They discuss where those authors were correct, where they twisted stastics to meet their own goals, where they made false assumptions and where they committed bad science. This book doesn't get much into the genetic end of things, but rather discusses other causes of inequality and the flaws in the research of The Bell Curve. Recommended for anyone who wants a serious, scholarly, critique of pop science.

A must have for those interested in this debate
Never have I seen an arguement totally torn apart and buried as was done in this literature. The material presented in this book is vital ammunition for people who debate on the subject of race and intelligence.

The Bell Curve arguement was completely refuted after the second chapter!!! But Inequality By Design was very very fair, in how it attacked the arguement. Chapter by chapter the validity of the bell curve arguement shrunk more and more. Every issue was addressed and the authors provided complete and easy to understand examples of relevant phenomenon.

The only way I could see you NOT liking this book is if you are some kind of elitist trapped in the confines of the popular Euro-centric worldview of white superiority.

This book is definately worth your money...
