This is a wonderful, wonderful book!!
Christmas is a very magical time in our home, and this book will be a special part of each Christmas holiday sesaon. It is full of wonderful stories to read to children of all ages! I am very particular about the types of stories that I read to my kids and the themes that I want them exposed to, given their young and impressionable ages; I couldn't recommend this book any higher!

This is the best of 17 Collections in our Library!
As a Teacher and Professional Storyteller, I am always looking for new stories and outstanding re-tellings of classics. This Beautifully illustrated book is the best I have ever seen in my yearly Nov. search for new Christmas stories! I am already working on mastering 9 of its stories to tell and 3 poems that will be read aloud! In the other 17 books I have read, I only found 7 other stories to tell!

My all-time favourite young kids' book
A classic from the Dr. Seuss "Beginner Books" series, and in my opinion, the best of that series.

Not a story as such, but a wonderfully simple rhyme about many of the childhood joys of summer. The pictures complement the text ideally. One of my favourite books as a child, and now as a parent. Oh yes, the kids love it too.

The companion book "Snow" has the same illustrator but a different author(s) for some reason. Nevertheless it also is very good, and it is well worth having both (kids like to read both in one sitting).

Looking at the "peek inside", it seems the pictures have been touched up in the new release. The girl now has dark hair. I've no idea why they did this. I hope it hasn't been spoilt.

A pleasant and humorous book to share with your youngsters
This easy-reader has my two-year-old enthralled and her parents charmed. Roy McKie's illustrations add to the humor and surprise of Ms. Low's simple poetry. Originally published in 1963, it provides a nostalgic look at a carefree season through the eyes of two youngsters and their dog. McKie also illustrated Beginner Book's "Snow", a nice companion to this title.

My favorite children's book!
I have had a copy of this book since I was about 8 years old. I found it on the bus stop one day and I have had it ever since . Today as I was cleaning I realized that my old book was getting very old so I was so excited to see that amazon carried it. This book has terrific illustrations, a creative story line and would definetly help kids over come thier fear of the midnight monsters! This book is a must have! Even if you are 24!

Alice Medrich is God
This book is excellent and dispells the myth that lowfat is boring and not tasteful. The recipes in this book are actually better than some "full-fat" recipes I've tasted. A very practical approach to reducing the fat without reducing the flavor. Start with the "Chocolate Pound Cake" and work your way up to some of the more involved recipes... although the ones I've tried so far are not difficult. I brought some of the results of her recipes in to my co-workers, and they were amazed. A highly-recommended choice.

Don't think of this as a low-fat cookbook...
These are not excellent low-fat desserts. They are excellent desserts that are also low-fat. Whether or not I am watching what I eat or cooking for people who are watching what they eat, I always look here first, and no one ever, ever misses the fat and calories. Alice Medrich has done a fantastic job of lightening the dessert tray without resorting to artificial sweeteners, fat-free dairy products, "light" margarine, etc. She emphasizes ingredients of the highest quality, but stretches the fatty stuff (for example, she decreases the amount of nuts in a biscotti recipe, chopping them coarsely to make them go farther and toasting them to maximize flavor). If a recipe can't be lightened successfully, it's not in the book (for example, you won't find shortbread, although somehow, miraculously, she has found a way to lighten whipped cream!).

I have made many of these recipes and have never been disappointed. I'll recommend the Kahlua Fudge Cake, Frozen Hot Chocolate, Lime Cookies (yes, even the handful of non-chocolate desserts are heaven), Michael's Brownies, Fallen Chocolate Torte, Chocolate Hazelnut Biscotti, Genoise, Hot Ginger Cookies, and Buttermilk Chocolate Sauce. I have not tried a recipe that I cannot recommend. You will not be disappointed.

The book is illustrated beautifully and divided, helpfully, according to recipe type (fancy desserts, everyday desserts, individual desserts, etc). It includes nutritional information. The desserts obtain 30% or less of their calories from fat, and although not all are low-calorie, most are (Michael's Brownies, for example, have around 150 calories each and are sinful).

Recipes are included only if they are absolutely luscious.
I have made several of the recipes, and they range from excellent to just stunning. Her chocolate decadence has all the rich chocolate taste any lover of dark chocolate could ask for, and it has one fourth the fat of the standard chocolate decadence. You never feel as if you are giving anything up. I am not a chef, but the recipes worked fine for me. A beautiful book, well-suited for gifting. Everyone I've shown it to (or fed from it) says "I've got to get that book!"

He He He... *Cackle*Cackle* I'll get you, My Pretty!
In the book THE WITCH WHO WAS AFRIAD OF WITCHES, there were three witches, Polly, the oldest, knew *everything*, Wog, the middles sister, could do *everything* the best. Then, of course, there was the youngest and the most picked on (at least by her sisters :( ) Wendy. This is a very good book, though I disagree that the notion that all witches wear black robes and hats, have warty green noses, and cackle evily. Some are short, wear glasses, and teach english. ^_^';; Heh heh, anyway.. as I said, this is a very good book, even for older children and teenagers alike.

I want you to read this book
These are my favorite exciting parts of the book. My first favorite part is when a ghost named Roger knocks on the door and says, "Trick or treat!" and Wendy says there's nobody home. My next favorite part is when they go to Roger's house to get a broom. When Wendy sits on the broom, and she cackles and gives a little jump, she zooms to the ceiling. Another favorite part is when Wendy puts spells on her sisters, Wog and Polly. Another one is when they come home limping and they think they lost their witch powers. My last favorite part is when they find Wendy and they say that her broom won't work and Polly gets on the broom and she can't take off and Wog gets on the broom and she can't take off either. Then Wendy gets on and cackles and gives a little jump and zooms off out the window faster than they ever flew.

Wendy's a Wonderful Witch
My daughter, who just turned five, recently "discovered" all sorts of things she can be afraid of -- large spiders, strange shadows, monsters, etc. Therefore, I was delighted to find the book, "The Witch Who Was Afraid of Witches," where the heroine, Wendy, is someone who would normally be labeled scary just because she is a witch. But there's nothing to fear about Wendy, who is even afraid of other witches herself. My daughter began the story by asking if the characters would be scary, and ended by rooting for Wendy. The book's underlying message that all of us have special abilities, including the power to face our own fears, is an important one. And the cute, colorful illustrations don't hurt! My daughter loves the story, and we have read it several times.

The Macmillan Book of Greek Gods and Heroes

A great book~
This book has great myths. At first, it seems boring, but soon your eyes will be glued onto the pages. It is a wonderful book to share around to your classmates and teachers. Each story has a morel that teaches you well on a situation. I recommend this to people around the teens.

Informational
This book is a great resource book. Not only for young readers but for anyone who want to know the most significant stories in Greek Mythology. This book makes a good basic reference for any history class. Anyone can learn easily from this book because it is easy to read, yet you receive a lot of information. It also includes colorful illustrations that giulds the reader through.

This book includes sections such as: "Mother Earth and Her Children", "The Gods and Foddesses of Mount Olypus", "Zuez and the Creation of Mankind", and "Triumnphs of the Gods". It has such stories as: Prometheus and His Gift to Man, Pandora, Echo, Medusa, Jason, Odysseus, and much more.

A personal favorite of mine is the story of Jason. One man fell for the love of a youthful princess, and tempted to leave his wife, Medea. Medea spent much of her money and prepared a feast for Jason. The revenge was sweet.... I can't tell you the rest. Buy this book, its far too interesting.

Best introduction to its subject that I know of
When one is trying to get a basic overall grasp of Greek mythology, it can be an overwhelming and formidable subject, and one can be at a loss for the best place to start. Most books I've found either give too much detail too fast or else are hit-and-miss selections that don't give a very comprehensive introduction. If that's been your experience too, this book could be an excellent solution to your problem. It gives a highly readable thorough introduction without overwhelming you with details. As an introduction to or review of Greek mythology, it is therefore highly recommendable. Although probably aimed primarily at children, I suppose grown-ups too, if not already expert on the subject, won't find it too elementary.

Perfectly Scary
These are wonderful stories to read to kids on Halloween. the illustrations are excellent, they are of enough varied lengths to fit into any school or bedtime schedule, and they manage that blend of fun and scary that is, well, fun and scary. Most kids over third grade at my boy's school (where I've been reading these each October for the past three years) can quote the punch line to Bruce Colville's 'Duffy's Jacket'. It's a true pleasure. I'd recommend that your elementary school's library get more than one copy.

Wang Yani
THE BOOK IS SUTPID DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND READ IT!!

Art Educator and Mom
This is a wonderful book about a very talented young artist. Wang Yani is an extraordinary young woman who is an inspiration to us all. Her love of animals is something most children can identify with. I have read this book with 3rd graders and they loved every photo and detail about Wang Yani's life. The combination of reproductions and Wang Yani's own words make the book gripping for young children. A must-have for any class studying China or Chinese art.

"A great, compelling book!"
A fanscinating novel about the life and times of an amazing young artist, who went through many stages in her life and still is. A powerful, though-provoking book, also alot of tips for artists in the making! Wang Yani has had alot of parent influences, which cannot be stressed enough, and that is really what counts. It talks about her being China's prized possesion, or The Picasso OF China. Although I don't believe she is all that popular in Canada, I belive she will eventually reach that poing, whatever the time period. I would recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys all aspects of art!
