Our names are Luisa, Casey, Tom, Joshua, Tim, Megan, Alex, and Janae. We read Henry and Mudge and the Long Weekend. Here is our summary of the book: Henry and Mudge got up one Saturday Morning in February and looked outside. The weather was disgusting. They couldn't go outside and there was nothing to do. Everything was boring to Henry and Mudge. They were so bored that Henry and Mudge went to sleep on the couch with Dad. Henry's mother had the idea to make a castle out of the big refrigerator and stove boxes. Henry, Mom, and Dad started making the castle. Mom drew, Dad cut, Henry stapled, and Mudge chewed an old boot. The family woke up the next morning and started to work on the castle. Mom read the newspaper and drank coffee. Henry and his father finished the castle. They showed it to Mom. It looked nice. It looked like a real castle. Mom, Dad, Henry, and Mudge had a good weekend!

I love the story line. A family working together on a yukky weekend minus the TV to do something fun. I esp. loved the picture of mom sitting at the table reading the paper while dad and son were building the castle in the basement. My kindergartener loved it! We will definitely read more of these books!

This is a book in a Phonics series of Wonder Books which has precious pictures and simple text. We checked it out from the library and my four year old learned the text after only reading it a few times. The photos keep children interested and the text helps them learn phonics. I want the whole set for my children.

It is so good to finally have a book that makeslearning phonics interesting for children. Smiles does a nice job of presenting both Long I words and helping children apply the Silent e rule. It has good pictures that will amuse both younger and older children who are entering the process of reading.

This book is great. I started reading books on the subject of sexual abuse when I was 15 (when I told) and am now 19. I have read all of the popular book out there on this subject (paticularly The Courage to Heal by Ellen Bass) and have found others helpful, but none of them have ever compared to How Long Does it Hurt. It helped me a lot to realize that what happened to me was horrific and was really abuse and that it was okay for me to feel the things that I did. I'd recommend this book to any and every survivor out there. Teenager or not. It very well could be a lifesaver.

I work as a Treatment Specialist in a Residential Program for Teenage Girls and recently utilized this book as part of the Survivors Curriculum which we offer at our facility. The girls with whom I work report that this book helped them more than any other resource which we offered. They suggested that the things which they liked best were: 1/ The book walked them through some of the processes and stages of their movement toward healing and, 2/ It gave them a sense of control over what had happened to them because it answered a lot of their questions about the legal processes involved in disclosure, things to expect from family members and how to continue to pursue healing.

It was remarkable for me to see one young woman pass the book on to various girls within the program who were otherwise afraid to ask for help and to share the book with them. I think that the authors have done a wonderful job of making information accessible to both young women and older women alike in an appealing format which a reader can return to again and again when questions arise.

I am a child abuse investigator and I am constantly seeking new information and also resources to share with clients and co-workers. This book is great for teenagers to read as well as their parents. It has given me more tools to use and reminded me of factors related to sexual abuse that help kids to recover. I recommend that parents of child who are abused or even adults with past issues read this book. I bought three of them! Bonnie Sorlie

The Long Night... Mind's Eye Theatre... Vampire... The Dark Ages... has to be good right? Well, it is. Some of the flaws of Laws of the night are corrected within. It is fairly well written. The only complaint is that at times it seems to muddle the Table-top with the LARP, which can be mildly confusing (especially to those with no experience with the Table-top). On the whole though definitely a good buy.

The Long Night is the live-action version of Vampire:the Dark Ages. It is about the world of vampires in the year 1197. This book has corrected one of the major flaws(in my opinion) of Laws of the Night(the modern day live-action Vampire game) by bringing back the ten step system of roads, codes of conduct which each person follows. With new and improved Disciplines(powers), this book and game is a must for any live-action player, and might even convince tabletop players to try a live-action game or two.

As the title says, Last divides overeaters into five categories. Personally, I have found it beneficial to know what makes me want to munch. Also, the book is realistic as it discusses overeating -- not necessarily eating a quart of ice cream at one sitting -- but making poor food choices. Last adds in personal anecdotes both relating to her own experiences and those of former patients.

The biggest drawback to the book for me were the remedies. After intriging me by discussing my "reason," Last gives overly simplistic problem-solving advice. For example, she suggests deep breathing for an anxious eater. Yeah, right.

Last's superb guide enables the reader to identify which "eating profile" they fall into, and thereby select the weight-loss strategy appropriate to them. With my wife, who really let herself go quite some time ago, "Remorseless Grazer" covers most of the angles - and to know this is to be prepared. I found it easy to read and well thought out, and we certainly need it after Marjorie ballooned massively over our two week Second Honeymoon.

Ms. Last has produced an exceptional piece of work on a very important subject...she is to be commended for her very thorough understanding, sincere evaluation and straightforward advice. This book has changed my life...
