Each page is surprising, we kept wondering what was going to happen next. It is still great to read over and over. The illustrations since they look like engravings are simple and charming. It's a nice twist on the standard witch type story. I like this book as much as we like Tanglebird.

My son and I read this book together today at the library. It's a cute and silly book about a lady and her family how loves shoes. The lady owns a shoe store and it tells about her week with some wacky customers.

Fun to read!

Charming simple story of a bird that figures out how to weave a pretty nest. The illustrations are ordered, and clear and ornate at the same time. This book was our favorite for almost a year.

This classic Russian story of mystery, adventure, love and greed is very enjoyable especially with the well done illustrations. It differs from the full length version in Russian, but is a good substitute for reading stories to children of ages three to six. It is also the subject of several russian laquor boxes.
