Enchanting book!
I very much enjoyed this delightfully personal and emotional journey through the backroads of a France not previously known. The beautiful illustrations by one of my favorite artists gave the reader vivid images of this gorgeous landscape. For a non-artist, it was especially interesting to experience the journey through an artist's eye...an artist very worthy of the invitation to paint Monet's gardens. The book is a wonderful collaboration by a gifted painter and a talented writer.

I really couldn't stop reading!
Already in love with Margaret Hall Hoybach's painting style, I should have known that once I opened her book, both the words and the brush strokes would carry me, faster and faster, through to the very last page. Margaret enables the reader to see, hear, smell, taste, and experience her weeks traveling and painting across France.

A journey to be shared
Feasting and fasting, reflection and spontaneity, fellowship and solitude - all the elements of a pilgrimage are contained in this intimate account of Margaret Hall Hoybach's journey to paint Monet's gardens. Her sketches and paintings convey the wonder of her journey. Joan Brown captures the creative spark that propels an artist forward and the moments of conversion that await those willing to embrace their dreams. Colors of France is filled with rich, inviting textures arrayed for any traveler, regardless of destination. Hoybach's willingness to share her experience leads me to examine my own path. A good book to share with a friend.

Compassionately told true story....
Born and raised in Salem, Mass. I could certainly relate to all the landmarks, etc. mentioned in the book. The story of Martha Brailsford is indeed a tragic one. I thought the author did a superb job of telling the story with compassion and straight-forward information.
I literally couldn't put the book down from the first page and even a day later, Martha lingers in my mind.
The story was written with a good pace and left this reader looking to purchase another of Margaret Press's books.

Great book!
Excellent read about this chilling case. This book was originally released as "Counterpoint: A Murder In Massachusetts Bay".

CREEPY IS AS CREEPY DOES
Press did a thorough job in this true tale of a man who could not take no for an answer. Her character build of Tom Maimoni, a slipshod liar, NASA imposter, fake collegiate alumnus and all around creepy guy kept me riveted to the end. The strange death of local Martha Brailsford sent the small, close knit sailing/witching community of Salem Mass into a tailspin. The tailspin turned hurricane when numbers of women came forward after her death to report they had been pawed and humiliated by Maimoni. Good research, nicely done reconstruction and time line and tightly packaged facts which read like a novel. Margaret, what is your next crime?

A Gloriously, Uplifting Book
This book is simply one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. The photographs are breathtaking. Each line of the poem is complemented with Scripture. I was facing a very dark period in my life and this book gave me the light to see that indeed God is always with us.

What Wonderful Insight to Have...
Learning the meaning behind the poem shows a new light on it and goes to show that God does work in miraculous ways. Margaret Fishbone Powers' story is remarkable and she truly is deserving of the credit for the poem.

a great marriage of CBT and psychodynamic approaches
This is a great book. It is a practical and effective marriage of cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic approaches to therapy that fills gaps that just one approach often misses. It also is specifically geared toward women and the social roles we are so often expected to fill and the coping strategies we often use. It is an excellent resource that I plan to use with my clients and already use with myself.

This book changed the way I approach living my life.
My 32-year-old sister lent me this book to read over Christmas - our first Christmas without our mother, who died recently of cancer. I am 36, and at a crossroads in my life as I consider career options, children, etc. I found this book compelling and uplifting, despite the fact that in the beginning, I did not particularly care for the author's style. By the end, I was hooked by the message, and it's been rolling around in my mind ever since. I've enjoyed discussing it with my sister, and there are four women friends I'd like to buy it for - immediately!

On my top 5 favorite book list!
This is a marvelous book. Not only is it a breeze to read, but it has made my life easier in contributing to altering my perspective on existence. I sent out a mass email to my enlightened friends, highly recommending this wonderful fable.

FEELING LOST?
I have purchased a minimum of ten copies of this book and given it to friends, co-workers, patients and family members who needed to "find" something missing from their lives. "Their" review was one of true thanks, not only for the book, but for the insight of recognizing the "void" in their life and helping "them" find it, understand it and fill it with love. I just gave away my last hardcover copy and was suprised to find that it is now out of print.

A Story of Bravery
This book was about the brave life of a french peasant Joan d'(of) Arc. The story explains how the voices of god (angels and saints) told her that she was the one who needed to save France. Knowing that the king of France would not take a women seriously much less a peasant Joan cleverly disguised herself as a male and goes to confront the king. Impressed with Joan he gave her an army and a horse and told her to defend her country against England. Joan bravely led her troops in the name of god and his messenger. Soon after her charge on the English Joan was captured and put on trial for her charades and was sentenced to death by burning on the stakes. No one took this women seriously, much less believe that she had been chosen by god to fight for his message. After her death Joan was deemed a saint and forever known as the brave Saint Joan d' Arc.
I like the authors way of simply telling the story. The pictures in the book vividly displayed emotion and showed the trial wonderfully. Depicting the judges anger, the juries humor and Joan's undying passion and courage. The author shared with the readers the courage Joan had. Inviting the readers to fight for what they believe in and never give up on their values no matter what. A wonderful story of bravery and courage.

Illustrations that beautifully bring the story home!
I was impressed with the look of this book as much as with the content. Both the author and the illustrator have created a lovely retelling of the story of Joan! And when my, then 6 year old, daughter brought it home from her school library, I could see her spark of interest in St. Joan coming to life. One year later, she brought up the notion of finding this book again. She hadn't seen it since the one time she had checked it out at school, last year. That is what convinced me to purchase it for our home library. It trully is a book you'll want to read and look at over and over!

Brown descendant gives it a "thumbs up" for children
As one of the real "unsinkable" Mrs. Brown's great granddaughters, the more I read this book, the more I enjoy the spirit and warmth of it. Molly's life was gradually embellished into legend even in her own lifetime and through her own telling, so it is appropriate that the book takes her dramatic flair to extremes with the Mississippi River story, a yarn Ms. Blos invented. Now that the 1997 movie has renewed the interest in Titanic and endeared her character to a generation of teens, this book is a good version of her great American legacy, in-a-nutshell, for the younger kids. No, it's not all true, but neither is Washington's cherry tree story. The illustrations are fabulous and include many real-life outfits and decor Molly owned, down to the family photographs on her wall.

Kids like the rags-to-riches story & beautiful illustrations
Well-received by my Titanic-crazed kids (ages 7 & 9). They enjoyed Molly's spirited story & loved the poems that appear periodically, summing up milestones in the heroine's life. I loved the illustrations & overall quality of the book. Nice gift-giving item.

Autumn World
On a world not that different from our own a technology has risen and collapsed taking a civilization with it. The inhabitants can no longer make use of their spaceports and travel to the stars. Instead, there is a religion based on the belief that someday the Sky Dwellers will return. Others believe that they will not and do not exist while still others, the Knowledge Brokers attempt to resurrect the dead technology. Not only is the widespread use of mental telepathy by the inhabitants common, so are parts and remnants of the lost civilization. As an experiment the Knowledge Brokers have managed to activate a sound-sender (kind of radio) and have sent out a message.

High above, there are three moons that orbit this world of permanent fall coloring and the message has been heard. The Spiral Collective has been surveying the area and has heard the message. They send a ship to the planet's surface to find the source of the signal. However, the mission quickly becomes secondary as the ship crashes, making Leah the sole human survivor.

The crash was seen for miles and she is quickly captured by troops loyal to the Crown. Matvar and his troops believe that the old legends have proven true and the "Starborn" or "Sky Dwellers" truly exist. While a dead body would be easiest to deal with, live specimens also work, and Leah is taken prisoner for transport to the capital city, Oshune. Their arrival will validate their religion and expose the non-believers for what they are.

Proof will destroy the heresy, led by Valad. Valad and his followers do not believe the ancient legends or religion and seek to destroy it every chance they get. Valad, as magistrate to the area, half-heartedly supports the Crown while at the same time seeking his own twisted pleasure. One pleasure he desperately wants is Thiele.

Thiele is one of the Learned Ones of the Knowledge Brokers. Her mental telepathy abilities are a bit stronger that others and she knows what Valad wants with her. She has no intention of being captured and forced to spend time with Valad. After discovering Leah, captive among the troops she decides that Leah needs rescuing from them. Thiele knows what Leah is and wants her to get away and return to her people.

But the rescue quickly runs awry, and Leah finds herself chased by Valad and his men as well as Matvar and his followers. Along the way, she will learn much and still wonder just how far she can trust Thiele and her people. But, alone, on an alien world with little hope of rescue by your own, you have to trust someone.

This is a very good novel with strong characters and vivid descriptions. Despite the fact that the five authors collaborated on this project together, it does not have the usual hallmarks of such an effort. The work flows seamlessly from chapter to chapter, scene to scene and it simply is not discernable who wrote what. An excellent novel and a very enjoyable read that I would recommend to almost anyone that has an interest in science fiction.

Fabulous, Inspiring Woman
This book was fantastic. I reccommend it to anyone interested in learning about Irish women's role in the fight for nationalism. Women's participation in politics is often overlooked, especially in Irish history. Learn about this incredible woman who did so much more than capture the heart of Willy Yeats-she was a true pioneer in women's political participation.
