This isn't the best book on eating disorders.
This was one of the most frustrating books to read on the subject of eating disorders because the emphasis seemed to be on the wrong things. When we think of eating disorders we must realize how much we still need to learn. There were so many references to "ideal" weights and dieting that it would be counterproductive for a patient with an eating disorder to read this book. Some interesting facts about eating disorders and pregnancy were mentioned in this book, and these seemed to be more in the authors' area of expertise. There are many other books written on treating eating disorders and the key seems to be treating the patient with compassion. There was confusion in the book in defining the different eating disorders because there aren't any international standards. In the U.S. we typically use the DSM-IV for diagnosis guidelines, but the guidelines used in other countries are somewhat different making this more difficult to understand.
Required reading for people with young daughters.
This is a thorough book. The basics of the three major eating disorders, anorexia, bulimia and obesity, are examined both individually and as a group, with opening chapters on adolescent eating behaviors and the sexual maturation process. Numerous case history outlines provide surprising insights into the mind of the eating disorder victim. You will not find what you might expect. Any parent with a daughter in sports should get this book. Eating disorders are a subject which parents today cannot study

disappointed
This book is recommended by many medical schools in Australia as well as Australian Medical Council. I was disappointed after I started to read it. There are many grammar mistakes and, much worse, the author frequently used complex structure of sentences to describe many different and unrelated things. I wasted lots of time trying to understand the meaning. This really drives me crazy.
Words without substance.
The books gives an easy description of obstetrics and gynaecology, but it does not give much information on the subjects. It is difficult to find answers to even easy questions which arise at the ward during clinics. But you can read the whole book in two days, and that is an advantage before the exam. But if this book is all you read, you might not pass it.
Very good book for medical student
This book is very stimulating and clear. The concept is explained very clearly. The amount is 'just enough', not too much, not too little. It does not go to too detail for each topic, but gives you a very clear framework. The pictures are very good.

Good textbook but confusing..
This is a fairly good textbook, very colourful and has a good layout. However, it tends to jump into topics without a smooth transition, assuming that you know enough to fill in the gaps. And there tends to be a lot of detail. Very poor section on Obs/Gynae history-taking and examination. Gynaecology topics tend to be handled better than Obstetrics topics. If you already know something about Obs/Gynae then this textbook may be a good choice. If you're looking for an introduction to the topic, look elsewhere, as it will overwhelm you.
