As a father of three sons - no they are not heading off to college either - this is a wonderful book. As a son this is a great book for my parents to read as they approach retirement years. In a very user-friendly approachable style Ray has written a great book for all those who break out into a cold sweat when you hear the words "finance," "management" or "budget". A must read for anybody, teens on up!

The books I've read on finance seem to fall into one of two categories: either the "how to satisfy your greed and get rich quick" or the "deny yourself and live on a strict budget" types. (Not to mention the occasional, "the world is about to end so put it all in precious metals" hyperbole.)

"Living Large" is a refreshing change from the norm. It is easy to read, filled with enjoyable personal examples, and contains practical advice for both young couples starting out and more advanced investors. I had the feeling that I was listening to the "sweet voice of reason" on every page.

And this book contains a dimension I've not seen anywhere else. Dr. Albrektson gives wise counsel on how to be genuinely contented with the income you have. Frankly, I don't know many Americans who can honestly say they are content with what they make. Perhaps with the help of "Living Large" we can start a new trend!

Last year my wife and I paid a certified financial planner $500 to do some retirement planning for us. After I read "Living Large" I was surprised how much of our planner's expert advice was exactly the same as Albrektson's in this book. If I'd bought "Living Large" a year ago, I could have saved myself $490.00!

After years of fighting the consulting battle alone, this book came along and I realized that all of my experiences were held in common by that group known as "Consultants." I realized that even my "failures" were tremendous learning experiences that made me a better consultant. What a relief to know I'm not alone and part of a grand tradition. What I learned: Always, always look for the customers pain. Sell to that and you create real value, satisfaction and repeat business.

It is difficult to put into words the complex beauty of this book. If you are not familiar with the poetry of E.E. Cummings, this book will make you a surefire fan. The verse is sensitive, gentle and intimate. Beautifully paired with the whimsical, delicate and ever-bright illustrations by Mary Claire Smith, this book will sing to you and your child's hearts.

There are very few stories about Christmas which capture the essence of what all the decorations and packages truly represent. This is one of those few. The illustrations bring us back to a time when family and friends, hand-made gifts and music together were what were truly valued. Where Christmas was a festival which celebrated warmth, light, life and love.

For those who are sensitive to the masses of trees which are erased from our earth each Christmas, please take a look at this book. I especially appreciate that the angel who takes the tree from the forest to the child carries the tree with roots intact and then, through Ms. Smith's illustrations, the tree is pictured potted. The tree in this book is a true symbol of Life.

This book is one our family will treaure for generations to come.

You as a learned individual and a vast background in business describe in this book the amoral practices in merchandising and the pitfalls thereof with a judicious and eclectic manner. Since you passed through your profession from the very bottom up to the top, you know both the bright and dark sides of the enterprise. You are indeed a teacher of the truth which is often camouflaged in all walks of our life. It is said that a picture is more eloquent than any sophisticated word. And your book employs this veracity. Moreoever, many a clipping from sundry newspapers form a suitable frame to the content of the respective narratives. Your linguistic dexterity, non-convoluted phraseology, and truly businesslike insights create a mosaic pleasing to a beholder. Tom, my appreciation for your book can be hardly expressed by mere words.

The first thought that came to mind after finishing "Dirty Little Tricks: How Sales People are Robbing You Blind" was I've been robbed! Mr. Crowel has spared no professional occupation as he opens my eyes to the world of "shading dealings." This book is definitely a page-turning as it sheds light on the value of caution and points directly to the fact that not all salespeople are honest or have your best interest in mind when they're repairing your vehicle, diagnosing a health problem, selling you a car or trying to get you to sell their products to family and friends. Because of the author's open review of companies and their dirty tricks, I've committed to being an educated consumer. This book is a must for anyone who's contemplating the world of sales.

Let's Learn a Little Hawaiian is a handy little pocket-sized book. It gives translations of many male and female names into Hawaiian versions. The English to Hawaiian list is fairly extensive, and the Hawaiian expressions are cute. The only thing this book lacks is grammar. But for a take along quick dictionary, this book is great!

Little Nessie is a wonderfully delightful children's story. It is a new take on a much loved Scottish myth. My children (ages 8 and 10) loved the story.
