Nothing Confusing Here: Fun Book
Dazed & Confused is a classic movie about the day in the life of high schoolers in a small Texas town on last day of school in 1976. This book that is a companion to the movie is just like the movie itself: funny. Designed as part high school yearbook, part 70's era teen magazine, it is a nostalgia filled, quick and enjoyable read. There are tons of pictures (the yearbook pictures of the cast are great) and everyone of the major cast member contributes an "article" to the book. If you are a fan of the movie, then this book is a must for your collection.

Great Book is Extension of Great Movie
ATENTION ALL D&C FANS: IF YOU DO NOT GO OUT AND GET THIS BOOK RIGHT NOW, YOU WILL NEVER KNOW THE WHOLE STORY! This book has everything, from Clint's favorite colored muscle T-shirt to Benny's beer limit. It is definantly a must for not only Dazed fans, but to any fans of the seventies!

MUST HAVE FOR ANY "DAZED AND CONFUSED" FAN.
Let me just start by saying that I just bought this book no more than an hour ago. As soon as I got home I picked it up and didn't put it down forr the next hour. As a huge "Dazed and Confused" fan, I was extremely happy when I saw that there was a book to go along with the movie. But the book is not just about the movie. It starts out with a great introduction by the director and writer Richard Linklater. In this intro he explains the time period, the pros and cons of the 70's, and where the idea for the movie came from. Also in the book are synopsis's of all the basic charactar (the best is Clints, the guy who beats up the nerd). This book doesn't just follow along with the movie, it is an explanation of the 1970's, I enjoyed it considering I wasn't alive yet. So if you are a hardcore fan of "Dazed and Confused" or a collector of 70's memorobilia, than you need this book.

The most romantic love we desired in a journey...
It is a great movie that we just can't miss it in our life. When a man meets a woman in the way like the movie goes, something is expected to happen. It is amazing that everything is so natual, so romantic.

The story makes me desiring a romantic love everytime I am in a journey...

It is pity that I miss the opening of the movie. I've tried to get the VCD of the picture but I can't make it in Hongkong. I can't find the book neither...

There're signs everywhere!
I was delighted by the movie, and immediately looked out for the book or anything related with it.

It's a subtle book, it shows in a very poetic way how communication can connect everyone. You can perceive it in every frame of the movie, is not casual that a location as Vienna has been choosen to develop the story.

Time, life, freedom, love, poetry, signs are important issues.

Excellent book to a great movie. Brilliant pictures.
Before Sunrise is one of my favorite movies of all time, and I can't imagine a better book to accompany it. What makes this book so great is that it does not contain the actual script, because I think the shots and technical description would just ruin the magic of the dialogue, which is the best thing about the movie. The pictures are brilliant (for they're not only copies of the film's shots), and the poem at the end of the book is simply a touch of genius. I lost the book, though. So I was wondering if anyone could help me find a copy. All expenses will be paid. Thanks!

Good, but a widescreen version is desperately needed.
This, Richard Linklater's first feature, is an interesting, often humorous film that establishes some of the themes he follows up on in his later films, "Before Sunrise," "SubUrbia," and "Waking Life." Linklater's own cameo at the beginning of the film is especially fascinating. I'd recommend this movie both to those who've seen Linklater's later films and to those who've never seen a Linklater movie before. However, I feel compelled to add that my "full screen" VHS copy is frustratingly inadequate: characters are constantly being cut off on the sides and top of the screen, and not insignificant characters, either. Often, they're speaking at the time! It's a bizarre, unintended effect. This movie really must be released on DVD in a widescreen format, soon. Please?

Strangers die everyday
With documentary-like realism, experimental art film structure, and a title that became a '90s buzz word, Richard Linklater's brilliant study of the life of idlers has acquired cult status. Eschewing the typical film syntax, he follows a string of characters through a 24-hour period in Austin, Texas, using basically the same camera angle and lens for the length of the movie (with the exception of a brief segment shot in pixlevision). The dialogue acts almost as a monologue, with each scene linked together by one character 'passing the baton' to the next. The cast was made up of crew members and locals (Linklater plays the opening character), and an improvisational overtone provides for many memorable moments (the video backpacker, the JFK buff, and of course the infamous Madonna pap smear). Austin band Ed Hall are seen playing live in a club, and Louis Mackey, Professor of philosophy at University of Texas, has a great role as an old anarchist. After this, Linklater started directing more linear, mass audience-friendly films ("Dazed & Confused," "Before Sunrise," and "SubUrbia") but still kept the stories within a 24-hour time frame. An excellent companion book (including the full movie script) was published in 1992.

Fall-on-the-floor Funny
Having recently seen a segment of this film on tv, I recalled my reaction years ago to the whole movie. It's just plain hilarious. Linklater has accurately captured a subculture of post-college self-preoccupied fringe people who rattle on, airing pretentious musings to anyone in earshot including the deaf. Somehow I know these turkeys: the guy in the second hand book store with the most complete collection of self-published books about the assassination of JFK, the juvenile philospher who regails his completely unreactive cabdriver with alternative scenarios had he, the passenger, not chosen to ride in the cab, the blankfaced driver who runs over a pedestrian but doesn't let it completely ruin his mental fog... This is just a brilliant and casual walk through the streets and minds in a late 20th century neighborhood in Austin, Texas-- Greenwich Village for onanists. Linklater revisits this human zoo in "Waking Life", which more cleverly put together than its older cousin. I have only one complaint about Slacker--it's not available on DVD. If it were, I could show it to my film society on my 8 foot wide DLP system. Does anyone know what the story is?
