Good guidelines for IT/Business Alignment
There is nothing especially profound in this book, which is a collection of nine essays more than a cohesive book with chapters that segue from one to the next. However, it does represent consistently good practices and valuable guidelines for every facet of IT-to-business alignment.

Among the strongest chapters, in my opinion, are: 3-How Senior Managers Assess IT Practices and Business Maturity, 6-Discovering the Link between the Information Orientation of Senior Managers and Business Performance, and 8: Information Orientation: A New Business Metric: Effective Information Use in Companies. These three chapters capture the essence of IT-to-business alignment and provide insights on challenges and barriers, and how to overcome them.

Each of the other chapters were well written and each contained additional insights. This book should be on the professional reading list of all IT managers, regardless of their technical domain. It is especially applicable to CIOs and director-level IT managers. The importance of this book to those audience is the fact that achieving alignment is something that is much talked about, but rarely accomplished. This book places the key issues in context and provides some sound advice.

SEARCH OF 317 YEAR OLD FAMILY BIBLE PAYS OFF!
Following a search the author conducted over a period years provided great interest for me. Linking his family bible to the past in Germany and America was very exciting. I especially liked the way he connected the history of the times with the history of his family. It allows the reader to connect whith the quest and take part in the authors journey.

It's changed my life and how I relate to food.
I had tried every kind of diet ever published. I lost weight then gained it back. Then as I got older, it was even harder to lose weight no matter how few calories I ate. This book helped to to understand how certain foods make you fat. I've adopted a low-glycemic diet and have lost 8 lbs. in about 6 weeks. It was effortless, and it's a lifestyle and diet I can stay on forever.

If you are desperate to lose weight and maintain a healthy, long-term life lifestyle, you must read this book--then put it into practice! It's easy

One of the best nutrition books out there.
Dr. Podell's book paved the way for me to lose pounds effortlessly that I have always carried. It is true that the G-Index of foods are what makes you fat. Thank you Dr. Podell for finally bringing hope to a person that did not lose weight on 900 calorie diet. Now on your 1200 cal diet I am losing weight and have the energy to even start to work out. Rosemary Bridges

FINALLY A WELL BALANCED DIET
This book is right on the money. A well balanced diet that is SO EASY to follow. Not only are the meals great to eat, but your full all the time. (I actually started to think that I was overeating!) The meals are pretty easy to make, and the author encloses a weekly grocery list for your convience. The book outlines a complete diet for three weeks including recipes. This can't be made any easier. The G-Index book was recommended on a website for thyroid problems. Losing weight is near to impossible when you have a sluggish thyroid, however, while on this diet I have lost 5 poinds in two weeks! This is one to defintely recommend to all your friends!

Good Primer
This book is a good primer or intro, as it is marketed. My only problem with it is that it is heavy on large pictures, and limited on true text.

Best Textbook
This is one of the best college-level introduction, easy to read and excellent for its content. The terms are cricial and scholarly, to serve the academic and serious readers. Please check the updated sequal of this book: Discovering Computers 2003 Concepts for a Digital World Web and XP Enhanced, Complete
Gary B. Shelly, Thomas J. Cashman, Misty E. Vermaat. ISBN: 0-7895-6514-5© 2002, Publish date: February 13, 2002, 840 pages. This is my choice for the course that I am teaching...

Excellent Text for Beginning Computer Students
I have used this text for 2 semesters for my Introduction to Computer classes at Grand Valley State University and find it a very excellent text and instructional guide for instructor as well as for the students. The information is current and very relevant to what our students need to know. I highly recommend this text.

Great book - with great web support for additional info !!
This book was a required for a college course I was taking. The book covers all avenues of computing including applications (Excel, animation, etc) This is a great beginner's book with everything you need in one book. The book is littered with web links that expanses further on the subject matter that can't be covered in the book due to space. Lots of detail on glossy sheets in full color. The only problems is that there is variable text size from "ant size" to large text. Reads like a magazine with too much detail in some area (hence the 4 stars) This could be a text book of the future. This book was done in 1997 so some of the sites may no longer be supported. [URL] is their home site. I would buy it again if I had to. They have a new edition yearly.

"COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER"
The novel starts with a lot of promise.....and somewhere ....it falters..... but i will definetly read Walt Beckers other books too.
A lot of research has been done and we are definetly forced to think about many things... i would literally take a pause and ask myself "yes, how come?".
The political angel is justified but some how doesnt gell with the flow of the book.Whatever happens to Veronica? I though she would have a larger role to play... but it was a cameo..
Anyways read it if you want to amaze yourself and also to gain some knowledge about our ansectors.... you will be amazed if this is really the truth........
A read which you might like and recommend to your friends.

Crichton meets Indiana Jones and Mulder.
I absolutely loved this novel. Link is fast paced, action packed and filled to the brim with interesting bits of history. Who knew that learning about ancient civilizations could be so much fun.

While digging deep in the desert Samantha uncovers something incredible. Something that could rock the way we view humanity's origins. With the help of her colleague Ricardo she brings her old flame, Jack back to help with the dig. The situation becomes heated when Jack and Samantha's current flame, Dorn go head to head.

The dig leads them to the jungles of South America and to another ancient relic that might uncover something so fantastic and devastating that the world may never be the same.

Link is simply an excuse to let your imagination run wild. Walt Becker also based his plot on many tales of old, research and respected figures findings in the world of astronomy, archaeology, math and history. Link is eye and mind opening for those who are willing to look beyond it's premise as a thriller and see it for the amazing amount of research involved in the writing of it.

This book is a good read for those who enjoy thrillers, archaeology and ancient civilizations, outer space, Indiana Jones or the X-Files. Link kept me on the edge of my seat and I could not put it down. I can't wait to read more of Becker's work.

LOVED THIS ONE! GREAT ENTERTAINMENT!
LINK was a great, quick read. The characters of Jack and Samantha were both well-developed and interesting and their relationship was involving, and not as cliche as other adventure books.

The writing was outstanding. Kudos to Mr. Becker for a great first piece of fiction. As I read many of the reviews, it seems some people have problems with a couple of factoids from the book, but perhaps they should relax and read LINK for what it is-- not dogma-- not philosophy-- but light, entertaining fiction reading. Well done! I continue to recommend it to all my friends and family-- and they have enjoyed it as much as I have.

If one is the ..., insecure personality type that loves to go after authors or try to critique books or other creative endeavors because they don't have an ounce of creative talent themselves-- then this novel might not be for you. It takes a liberal look at many established theories of science, though it never seems preachy. But if you can handle a little thought-provoking and an overall enjoyable read, then pick up LINK now. I tend to most agree with the reviewer that disagreed with some of the science presented but still recommended the book. It is better than most of the commercial fiction out there.
