Just Enough Cooks for this Broth
Explore these powerful astrological evaluations of the causes and effects of the September 11th attacks. With a selection of readings from popular astrologers such as Robert Hand and Jonathan Keyes, you'll have the opportunity to look at these events from several perspectives. How were the charts of George W. Bush and the United States itself, impacted? What were the economic influences involved?

I particularly enjoyed the fact that every perspective wasn't devoted to the USA, corporate, we are the chosen children of capitalism viewpoint. Instead, we're treated to far more objective looks at the events (and the provocations) which led up to them.

Finally, we're shown a glimpse of what is to come. Offering some astrological probabilities of upcoming aspects, we are invited to see fresh possibilities and insights.

I enjoyed this book far more than I usually do, when several astrologers get together and caucus over the same bit of information. The repetition we may see only serves to reinforce particular ideas and the articles are woven together into a seamless and unified whole.

Wonderful Collection of Essays
This work is a terrific resource for anyone interested in understanding not only the astrological correspondences to 9/11/01, but also the implications for the economy and for the collective psyche. Essays are written by top-notch astrologers and are accompanied by maps and charts for illustration. Well worth reading!

Superb astrological consideration of 9.11.01.
The nature of the subject and the writing quality of the seven astrologers involved (the most famous being Robert Hand) make this a very unusual book. A very, very, very broad range of astrological and non-astrological perspectives are very carefully covered in this assessment of the terrorist attacks on America and some of the possible implications for all of us.

Astrologically the main emphasis is on interpretations of the charts of the events in September, together with related charts such as those of the United States, George W. Bush and, to some extent, Osama Bin Laden. Many other charts are also considered such as the World Trade Centre bombing in 1993 and the national chart for Israel. Interpretations of the Saturn-Pluto opposition transit through 2001 and 2002 receive particular attention throughout the book.

The astrology is continually placed in a broad context, with extensive considerations of the historical, political, and economical background to the attacks, together with similar perspectives on the consequences. Many questions are asked. Did the perpetrators use astrology? Did the terrorists intend to crash into the White House? Where do we go from here? Very occasionally some of the views appear rather fanciful, but overall this is superb stuff that does intelligent justice to modern astrology.

Peace of Mind and Soul...
is what you will find between the covers of this wonderful, little book. I first became acquainted with Daily Word by picking up the magazine form put out by Unity School of Christianity every month. The little booklet had very peaceful scenes and inspiring poetry and prose as well as a meditation for every day of the month.

That was in 1982 and I have been a confirmed reader ever since. Then this book was published and I have turned to it every time I felt the need for a lift or was struggling with a problem. It's appeal is universal and cuts across denominational lines. Many people have been helped by Daily Word and the booklet version has been published for nearly 100 years.

This is a book for comfort and inspiration 24/7/365 and you will find yourself turning to it automatically for comfort and guidance. Also very good is the "Daily Word for Healing" and the "Daily Word Prayer Journal." You can't go wrong with these.

The wonderful Daily Word message in hardcover and indexed
Anybody who has ever seen the Daily Word magazine knows how inspiring these daily messages are. This book contains 365 of the best, and one tremendous reason for owning this book is the index at the end. If you want a thought concerning pets, or loss of a loved one, or abundance, you will find the perfect thought instantly in the index...there are scores of topics there so whatever your need, the message is there at your disposal.

A wonderful gift
for a budding new Christian. I gave this publication as a gift last year and I have been able to reap in it's rewards myself. As mentioned by another reviewer, the fact that everything is indexed is very helpful. Everyday is enriched as this helps guide you on your journey.

Gale Warner Gave Us A Gift
By letting us into her thoughts as she moved from hope to resignation, Gale Warner has allowed us to witness close-up the emotional process of dying. I've read this book over and over, trying to really grasp what it must have been like to have understood, and written "We are entering a new reality" (the time when she recognized and had to fully comprehend that she was not responding, would not recover, and that death was imminent.) Whether or not you share her profound relationship with the natural world, her assertion that she has had sufficient joy and experience in her life really does ring true. I've never read anything quite like this: it is an amazing gift.

an important book
I feel it's a privilege for me to have followed Gale Warner on her journey: What was her journey? A journey we'll all have to embark on, sooner or later (hopefully, later), since we're all going to die. Gale Warner was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma at age 30 and lived 13 more months. In these months, she wrote in her journal about her thoughts, her insights, her struggle, her pain, and finally her acceptance and serenity: But it was never easy, never simple. Gale Warner saw cancer as the ultimate test of her faith (her particular, private sort of faith). She worked and struggled with her own mortality. In her own words-

"Limits. In order to boil water, you must put it in a pot. The pot sets a limit and so does cancer. When you learn you are not immortal, that you may only have a few years to embrace life, you start doing so. The photo of the Earth on my wall shows its beauty- and its limits. It would not be the same if those same colors and swirls were sloshed all over space".

"Dancing at the edge of life" is an important book, because in the end, everybody has to find their own answers or anyway, start asking their own questions. I would recommend this book to anyone and of course, not only to people with cancer. You don't have to get diagnosed with lymphoma to start thinking of the "big" questions, you don't have to wait to have cancer in order to learn how to live.

Another reason that makes this memoir important, is that Gale Warner must have been a very special, intelligent & sensitive person. She had worked as an environmental journalist & was also an accomplished poet. A person that fully embraced life was ultimately able to fully embrace the journey towards death.

Her story teaches us that spiritual awareness is a choice.
Gale Warner's story is positive proof that each of us, if we make a conscious choice, can see and feel the Spirit of God in everything and everyone, in spite of, and especially during, adversity and pain. It is the little moments, Gale's descriptions of that divine CONNECTEDNESS, consistent and enduring, that touches me the most. Her tender, poetic prose allows us to glimpse the radiant, spiritual essence that is the birthright we all share. During these troubled times, the world finds itself somewhat short of role models, but with the loving gift of "Dancing at the Edge of Life," Gale remains a lasting example. In her own words, she was and is "a daughter of the four winds, a child of the moon and rain and sun ... sister of the whale, and the juniper." I suspect that she now shines brightly in the heavens; each person who reads this book will feel the warmth of her glow, and best of all, will want to share it with others.

making dreams come true
Even in Belgium Cynthia Brian's book is read by several people, enjoying her way of making her own and others dreams come true. It is a book to put next to your bed and read after a long day or to take in your hands when you are in trouble. Just read one of the 99 gifts you prefer at that moment and in that particularly situation and you will get inspired again for the next day. In the near future we hope to read more of this author.

Cynthia Brian Does it Again!
"Be the Star You Are" claims to have 99 gifts, which are really one BIG gift, the gift of life divided into 99 easy to digest and easy to use gifts that will change your life and how you look at and deal with people. Th whole book sparkles with Cynthia Brian's personality. You will feel that you want to know her better when you read it and you will be looking forward to her next book. Like any great book, the benefit to you is when you apply what you read to your own life. So do it! You will like it! Oh yes, you have to read it first!

Cynthia Brian inspires the courage to dream!
I enjoyed Cynthia's book from cover to cover, although it could also be enjoyed a chapter at a time read in any order. The point Cynthia makes through the telling of her own personal stories is that we all are unique, having special gifts and talents--that with courage and perseverance--can be developed to their fullest potential so that we can truly become the "star" we are. Each story embodies a "gift", such as abundance or patience, that when recognized/applied in our lives, together become the building blocks upon which we create our dreams. At the end of each story (of which there are 99)she has a simple but effective exercise that can "awaken" the qualities of that gift within us. Through these down-to-Earth, real-life stories Cynthia inspires us to feel confident that our dreams are attainable if we only dare to dream and believe in our dream. As a teenager actively pursuing my dreams I turn to Cynthia Brian's book often for inspiration.

You'll never snub a panhandler again
This book is a masterpiece because Bernie Glassman's life and work is a masterpiece. His activism is truly awe-inspiring.

This book will touch your heart and make you think deeply about life, your own comfortable life with heat and light and computers, versus the dirty, cold, unsafe life on the streets.

There are just too many things to praise about this book that I can't write them all. Suffice it to say that all of it is a jewel, a gem, a lotus flower blooming from the mud of everyday life.

Buy it, read it, let it seep into you!

PEACE LOVING
THIS BOOK TELLS HOW TO MAKE PEACE IN OUR HEARTS AND IN THE WORLD BY SHARING SPIRITUAL WISDOM , INSIGHTS AND EXPERIENCES. THE 16 PEACEMAKER VOWS ARE POWERFUL. VERY UNLIFTING BOOK.

A Peacemaker's Manual
For anyone interested in making peace both within and without, or who is interested in combining spiritual practice with social action, Roshi Glassman's book is a "must read." He does a fine job of articulating and describing the spititual foundations of peacemaking in a very clear and straightforward manner. I found them both moving and helpful in my own search for a peacemaking path.

Mark McGwire's 70 Comes Alive!
Relive Mark McGwire's historic 1998 assault on the single season home run record with this magnificent book overflowing with full-color photos and amusing anecdotes. "Celebrating 70" charts the slugger's season, home run for home run, and features a bevy of information - complete with pictures - including the date of each long ball, the distance, and which pitcher was christened with the dubious distinction of yielding one of Big Mac's clouts! Along the way, you can read a brief summary for each game McGwire applied his trade. The pictures have been well chosen, conveying the emotion of each moment. The text matches the shear exuberance of the images, and Jack Buck's forward is simply splendid.

Outstanding!
The 1998 baseball season was truly one of the most magic in recenty years, thanks in part to the "home run battle" between Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa. This book chronicles their achievement which I suspect will grow to legendary tones in the years to come. The sportmanship between these two hereos was evident all season long, and the book reflects that.

Perhaps it was fitting that McGwire should wind up in a city that is a true "baseball town," and one that could truly love and cherish his accomplishment. I remember watching the game on TV where McGwire broke Babe Ruth's home regular season home run record and even the Cub players stood and applauded him. This book remembers that.

It starts off with pictures of McGwire and a nice foreword by Jack Buck, the longtime St. Louis Cardinals' broadcaster. There's also a brief story about Maris and Ruth, the men McGwire chased for most of that long summer. And then the home runs. Each page is devoted to a description of each one; the date, the opposing pitcher, the final score and so on.

Reading through each page brought back all those wonderful memories of the 1998 season for me. This book is a wonderful treasure and keepsake to celebrate an incredible baseball season by one man.

Celebrating 70 is historic
For the strongman from Pomona, California playing for the St. Louis Cardinals, the Summer of '98 was one long victory parade. A reminder of seasons past & a celebration of baseball future. He became a national hero & role model with class. He gave baseball back its luster. In this large, glossy, colorful homage to one fabulous boy of summer - the team of writers, photographers, designers & editors has given us a memorable, collectible, hit-by-hit, play-by-play story of a modern grand adventure. What a gift!

You can live with this!
I started using this book for my husband. He as a combination of bad genetics and scant will-power. The dishes are very easy to make, most of the ingredients are already in your kitchen, and best of all, they are delicious. It is very easy to follow and you can't believe you are eating so healthy because it tastes so good.

New to Heart Healthy information? This is your book!
After my father had an emergency triple-by-pass, our entire family experienced a "wake-up call" and finally decided to start learning about our hearts and how to eat for better heart health. One by one, each of us has bought a copy of this book--it is SO well written and Mr. Piscatella explains everything so well that it makes you excited about eating healthier. He is also very realistic about what it takes to change habits you've developed over many years. The first half of the book is all of the background information you need and the second half is the cookbook portion. The recipes are a helpful way to get started in your new appraoch to cooking and eating! Do yourself a favor and get this book--and get one for others in your life who need to take better care of their heart!

Get it, Read it, Live it!
I just bought this book for my husband and me, and I can't put it down. The information in the first half of the book is priceless. It goes in-depth about not only the workings of the heart and the causes of coronary heart disease, but also contains a step-by-step guide for how to change your lifestyle to prevent, control, or even reverse heart disease. The recipes in the second half are delicious and practical, if somewhat pricey. The author's focus is on presenting a practical, "do-able" approach to health, and he certainly achieves that. If you aren't buying it for yourself, buy it for your kids... their future dietary habits are determined by how they eat today. And "traces of the disease are common in American children by age 10" (p. 25). I'm buying another one for a friend.

This book has opened my eyes to miracles all around me.
The book was beautiful. It has changed my life. Just as the authors promised, I began to experience my own small miracles after reading this book. I also read the stories to my students. They love them!

I buy every copy I can find to give as gifts.

Small Miracles
Yes, I believe in miracles. I have always felt that these extraordinary coincidences that occur were more than just coincidences. How encouraging and enlightening to read of the many "everyday" miracles which have occurred in other peoples' lives. Yes, God definitely is with us and speaks with us...the experiences related in this book show this to be true. They are wonderfully written and obviously carefully selected by the editors, because every single story is a blessing in itself. I can't wait to read "Small Miracles II" and intend to order it today.

There are no coincidences or random events
The authors are very observant Jewish women who believe that the extraordinary events recounted in this book are not random but rather divine acts of intervention. There was a particularly moving tale of a young man who had a terrible falling out with his father. Two amazing coincidences .. or more accurately, small miracles brought him close to his father after his father died. I won't go into the details because I don't want to spoil it for you if you read this book but, suffice it to say, if this story is accurate, it is indeed miraculous. It just could not be a coincidence. This book is charming and uplifting. I have suffered a recent disappointment in my personal life and prayerfully, I am seeking to discover the reason. I am convinced, that in the spirit of this book, I will discover a miracle in that the real reason for this disappointment will lead me to enormous personal fulfillment. I recommend this book to all who believe in miracles or who wish they could so believe.

Most inspirational book I have ever read
I was diagnosed with terminal cancer almost a year ago. I was given three copies of Dr. Siegel's book and it helped me more than any other book which I have subsequently read - including "Anatomy of an Illness" by Norman Cousins, "Getting Well Again" by Simonton's , "You can Heal your Life" by Louise Hay, "Quantum Healing" by Deepak Choppra, and countless others. "Chicken Soup for the Surviving Soul" ranked second. I am doing great and credit having read Dr. Siegel's book with giving me the initial hope. I was disappointed though that despite several calls to the number listed in the book, I never received a reply when I requested information re his workshop and cassette tapes. My email address is charth@bellsouth.net if you have any comments. Thanks. I did not know you existed until recently. I wish I had known; I could have saved a lot of $$ on books.

LOVE, MIRACLES AND MEDICINE
This book is an upbeat, positive approach and plan in dealing with any life altering diagosis. A perfect gift of hope and love for the patient, the patient's family, friends or yourself.

If medical treatment is already underway there may be a recognizable need to give a gentle reminder to a physician or healthcare giver that TenderLovingCare in the treatment of a patient is needed and expected. . (Perhaps, there is only a wish by you to thank the doctor for TLC already given), Love,Medicine and Miracles is a perfect gift; a perfect venue. Dr. Seigel's book makes the point and serves as a definitive reminder of the significance of LOVE, MEDICNE and MIRACLES in rendering treatment to a patient.

The book was recommended to me when my husband was diagnosed with a catistrophic cancer;cholangio carcinoma, by a cancer patient who twice had cancers go into remission. Since, that time it has been a favorite gift for those who need positive encouragement; those awaiting, or who have received a frightening dignosis. How difficult it is to know what to say to help. I find that the gift of this book, LOVE, MEDICINE and MIRACLES provides the positive message of love and caring that I want for my family and friends. Dr. Siegel says it so much better than a just a bouquet of flowers would.

During the many weeks of hospital time and treatment that my husband unerwent I realized THIS BOOK SHOULD BE REQUIRED READING FOR EVERY DOCTOR, NURSE and CAREGIVER. It is down to earth and forthright in the information, suggestions and examples given; truly a bright light in what is often a dark tunnel.

Love, Medicine and Miracles
This book has changed my life! I am 43 years old with a wonderful husband of 18 years and three beautiful children, 14, 13 and 10. I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. It was by chance that it was caught, but nonetheless it is breast cancer. I am currently receiving radiation and have four more weeks to go. During the first week, I was sick to my stomach, felt weak, tired, couldn't eat and was a mess until I read this book. My neighbors had to drive me to my treatments and I had to wear headphones during the treatments. After reading the book I am a new person and went into treatments driving myself and hopping on the table without headphones. They were thrilled with me and I told them that everyone must read this book. I have share it with everyone I can and my mother said she can't put the book down.
I am very religious and at first wondered why me since I speak with God everyday, now I know how to visualize and love life to the extreme and am so happy to be alive. I still have the meditation part to go, but that will come. I also feel as though God is trying to lead me on a differnt path that I am on and will find out in time what that is.
I must say this book is not just for people with illnesses, but for everyone. Thank you for changing my life!! I wish I could tell everyone in the world how wonderful this book is.
