Catch a Falling Star
I just finished reading "Catch a Falling Star" and I really liked it. I am a senior citizen and have always liked Beverly Lewis' books, but this is the first one I've read that was about young people. I write stories, plays, etc. for young people and am a teacher in Sunday School and Children's Church so I like books for younger people. Now I have a lot more Beverly Lewis books to read.
Love,
Dorothy Miller

Excelent!
I really loved this book.I love pretty much all of Beverly's stories about the Amish.I might have to get the set of books 1-5 becaouse it was so great.I loved how Merry became friends with littel Sussie even though she's an Englisher.
I hope that Merry ends up with Levi and not John.0-o

Beverly Lewis does it again!
Beverly Lewis' Summerhill Secrets, Night of the Fireflies is good for teenagers. Merry Hanson's Amish neighbor's daughter, Susie Zook, is thrown into a coma when she and Merry go collecting fireflies in the darkness. Can Merry, with God's help, bring Susie back to life? A great page-turner.

AWESOME
This bok is very good. It really touched me, and made me think about my best friend and our relationship. I recommend it to any reader who has ever needed a friend.

Good book
Eleven-year-old Livvy Hudson's life is shattered when her mother dies of cancer. Livvy now has no support for her skating, and her dad has turned into a hermit. But one day her dad decides that he wants to move to Alpine Lake to get away from all the memories of Livvy's mother. Livvy is upset that she will have to leave everything and everyone behind, especially her coach. But Apline Lake turns out to better than Livvy thought, especially since she now lives in the same town as her pen pal. But Livvy is still unable to get a new coach or lessons. Will her Olympic dreams ever come true? I really liked this book, even though I am not into figure skating.

the Shunning
I have read all of Beverly Lewis adult books and long for more. I am intrigued by the stories of Lancaster County Pa. Looking forward to more tales of the simple life. Beverly, thank you very much for soothing "winter" reading. I really enjoyed your stories.

Dreams On Ice is great!
Dreams On Ice by Beverly Lewis is a fabulous story about an eleven year old girl named Olivia Hudson. Her dreams of becoming a professional figure skater are put on hold when she and her dad move to Alpine Lake, Colorado after her mom dies from cancer. Olivia makes friends in some unexpected places and begins to really enjoy her new home. I love it when she gets to meet her pen pal and finds a place to skate. I enjoyed this book because I like to ice skate like Olivia. I have read nearly all of Beverly Lewis' Cul-De-Sac Kids books and this book in the Girls Only series is just as wonderful. I'm looking forward to reading the 3 other books in this series. by Kaitlyn Drennan, 10 years old

The chicken pox panic
I realy liked it because Abby kept a secret from her Korean broter Shawn. I think this is a funny book because Abby made a huge mess when she was baking a cake shaped like South Korea. I think this is a great book and you should read it too!

The Chicken Pox Panic
Wonderful & funny. Teaches kids what to do when something special goes wrong & how to still have fun. My boys ages 7 & 9, had a hard time putting the book down. The book keeps one's attention & is never boring.

Introducing Life in an Amish Family
This beautifully written and illustrated book introduces life for an Amish family through the eyes of little Susie Mae. Watching her mother, Susie Mae decides since she looks like her mother she will also act like her mother. Her actions in some cases bring unexpected results. How her mother reacts teaches Susie Mae how to behave under similar circumstances. The closing message is, "Let's be more like the Lord Jesus . . . together."

An engaging, strongly recommended, "read-aloud tale"
Just Like Mama is a wonderfully written picture book story by Beverly Lewis about Susie Mae, a young Amish girl who wants to be just like her mother - so she accepts the challenge to keep up with everything her mother does all day, from morning milking and egg gathering to berry picking and cooking for the whole family. Illustrated with rich, full textured and memorably colorful artwork by Cheri Bladholm, Just Like Mama is an engaging, strongly recommended, "read-aloud tale" for mothers and daughters, a true celebration of the rewards of traditional farm life.

Wonderful book. It really shows the importance of God in our lives. He can do anything, like this book shows. I really recommend it.

Really Great Book
Merry Hanson's friend, Lissa, shows up at Merry's house one night bruised and banged up. Lissa says she can't go home or her father will beat her again. Can Merry help her? This book shows the importance of our tears to God. I really recommend Whispers Down the Lane!

Couldnt put it down!
This book is a wonderful story of an Amish girl who discovers a secret about her past and who she is which turns her life upside down! I completely fell in love with the characters. I was so touched by Katie's situation. I laughed and cried through the whole book! The ending was quite shocking as well! I can't wait to read book #2!

There is nothing like a Great Read!
I really just enjoyed this book.My heart really went out to Katie as well as her family and close friends.I have learned so much about the"Amish"way of life through reading this book.I checked this book out from my local, public libary and have already purchased "The Confession and The Reckoning."The Shunning" is a fabulous read and I highly recommend it to anyone. Can't wait to read the other 2 books.

My first book by Bev Lewis...but definitely not my last!
I am an avid reader and lover of Amish history. These 2 passions drew me to a display containing "The Shunning" when we were traveling and stopped to eat at a little restaurant-gift shop. I just had to get up from my meal and take a look at the book. I was so interested I had to read it. The characters were exciting people, individual in spite of being identical! Katie especially intrigued me! She was so fiesty, so different, opinionated, yet family oriented. How could she expect to be happy at any one place when the whole world called to her? I felt empathy for Katie's Amish parents because having a daughter like her surely was a test in their community! Yet, I felt Katie's pain...her uncertainty...her desires...what part in her longterm future would Mary play? How could Katie endure without Dan, her soul mate? How could she marry a man she did not love? Why must she be forced to live without the beautiful, soothing music she adored? Was it sin, or simply protocol? It was easy to keep switching my loyalty from one group to the other...they all had some good ideas. I thought I understood Katie and her inquisitive nature, yet I wanted to scold her for being ungrateful and even spiteful to her parents at times. I seemed to have love-hate for one person, then another! I think this author, Bev Lewis, surely must have an interesting life....how else could she think of so many wonderfully surprising events? For a book that led one to think it was going to be about a fairly dull family, living in a fairly dull town, with fairly dull ideals, there certainly was a trememdous amount of excitement nontheless! People DID have feelings, they DID experience emotions, and Katie Lapp was determined to live them in addition to just feeling them! There are issues here that are presented so well, love and marriage, family life, faith, obedience to parents, loyalty, adoption, trust, life and death, grief and mourning, traditions, ways of life...and all of these are wrapped around one tiny, pink satin baby gown! When I saw I was on the last page, I was stricken....NO, THIS CANNOT BE ENDING...there is so much I do not know yet! What will happen to..what if...when will...why didn't....maybe they...if only.... I did not rest a moment until book number 2 was in my hands! I so fully appreciate the author's portrayal of the love of God, His plan of salvation and especially the individuality of each person in spite of their surroundings! Thanks, Bev!
