SUPER! Phen-prozac really works, Dr. Anchors really cares.
Dr. Anchors presents the use of prozac, which has been proven safe, instead of the fenfluramine that caused heart valve problems when used along with phentermine. The book offers sensible advise on food choices and exercise. The difference between Dr. Anchors and all of the other "diet books" that I have purchased and attempted to follow is that he references all of the sources of information and statistics that prove that the phen/prozac combination does work. As a patient of Dr. Anchors, I have, without being hungry, lost about 20 pounds in the past three months. This follows a three year period when I was unable to lose a pound! Dr. Anchors is extremely supportive and committed to solving America's weight problem.

Response to the physician in Florida
The physician from Florida who advised against combining phentermine and Prozac was not familiar with the literature and had no experience with the medicines. In fact, neither phentermine nor Prozac used alone cause any weight loss after three months; the patients always gain the weight back even if they continue the medicine. The phen-pro combination, on the other hand, extends the weight loss and "locks it in". Phen-pro is twice as effective as Xenical with fewer side-effects. The Eli Lilly funded prospective trial of phen-pro will appear in JAMA about September this year. Watch for it

An Effective Combination, But Still Risky
These two powerful drugs act in the brain. Phentermine is extremely safe alone as a weight loss tool and can be taken for, for the most part, indefinitely. As is Prozac. But when you combine these two no matter what, there is going to be some side effects. As a doctor myself I believe in Anchor's idea of treatment of obesity like any other medical condition.

In my opinion, stick w/ phentermine or Prozac, but don't combine them.

Great book! Great Value! Tons of Information!
I didn't know what to expect when I bought this book but I was pleasantly surprised! It offers so much great advice for dealing with a variety of life's situations. The advice is simple & easy to read. There are so many topics covered, I liked the section on personal finance the most. Although the parts dealing with family situations are very useful, direct and to the point, like tracing a family tree, dealing with problem neighbors, etc...I recommend this book. It a good home reference book.

The school of hard knocks in one package
What an amazing achievement. Antoniak takes life's most problematic tasks and turns them into easily followed step by step processes. From the monumental -- buying a home -- to the mundane -- shopping for a used car -- Lifemaps offers solutions. Buy this book and you won't need to fill up your shelves with lots of other how-to books. Since I bought it I've used it dozens of times...and I've bought copies for all my kids too.

Political satire with surprising ties to the 2000 elections
Al Levine is an electronics salesman turned real estate developer cum political mixer that got swept into the fictional 1988 elections and got on the ballot as the Democratic party candidate for President. He's the first Jewish candidate ever to that post, and combined with his rather hilarious (and not-so-clean) salesman past, all make for a very funny insight into presidential electioneering and politics. The story is as bleivable as the tooth fairy's, but with the recent Gore/Liberman candidacy, It is funny and a-propo as well. Highly irreverent for all and totally irrespectful of many organizations, races, creeds, genders and Holy Cows, the book is a very good primer on American Presidential politics and human interrelationships.

a strange, funny, slightly racist look into another past
The wanting of Levine is a well spun yarn about a the future. Not the Science fiction Robert A. Heinline future that was all to common in the '70's either. Actually it's a rather pessimistic veiw of the late '80s that might have been. Things seem to be going right down the toilet when A.L. Levine's name appearns on a pole by a clerical mistake. Suddenly he's the democratic cantidate for the 1988 election and things start, if not to look up, then at least like the downward spiral could stop. I din't think the book was funny as the back lead me to believe it would be, but if you see the book, eseciall you if you find it at a library sale like I did, pick it up. Its certainly worth a couple dollars.

Rolodex in a Book
A great, handy reference book, "The Address Book: How to Reach Anyone Who Is Anyone" by Michael Levine is a helpful book for anyone looking to write celebrities, politicians, businessmen, and other notable personalities.

Each contact is alphabetized by last name, and contains the address, person's occupation, and in some cases, birthdays (for celebrities only) and webpages (for companies). As an avid letter writer, I found this book helpful in providing me with addresses at demand instead of hunting them down through the Internet by doing searches or going to company webpages.

A great book many will find resourceful, "The Address Book: How to Reach Anyone Who Is Anyone" will help many find the contact information they seek without the need for a major Internet search or many telephone calls. It makes a great gift for students, business professionals, and for anyone who avidly writes letters.

Strongly recommended
I have nothing but positive things to say about the author of this book -- he's my favorite person who has ever worked in the State Department, and this is undoubtedly the best book he's ever written. Also, the dedication is heart-warming.

Three thumbs up!

The Most Insightful , Funniest, Witty Page of this Book
This is the PERFECT birthday gift for any of your friends, who are approaching the 40th birthday crisis, and are not sure whether they should be publicly partying this year or not! The funniest page of the book though is headed 'About the Author', a must read page - beautifully succinct.

Creative, thought provoking, disturbing....
Excellent summer reading. Action, disturbing reality-based activities of law enforcement while we sleep comfortably in our beds... Highly enjoyable reading.

A wake-up call...
Once you get through this book, and realize that this man has LIVED this experience, it makes you wonder just what the hell our government thinks it's doing. Also makes you grateful that people like him are still willing to stick their necks out despite the fact that these folks are routinely left hanging, so to speak. Not ONLY is this book a thriller, but it's a wake up call to those "patriots" who are still blind enough to believe that either the Democrats OR the Republicans have their best interests in mind.

A Must Read Adventure Novel
Mike Levine has led a life of mythic proportions and this book is a glimpse into many real life events that he has experienced.

Adds a new dimension to the term conspiracy theory.

can't look away
apart from the magnificent photographs and compelling text, this book is powerful because it forces a reader to think about the shameful issue of america's prisons. at a time when most citizens would rather look at the latest celebrity du jour on the cover of every magazine, a work of art that presents real people -- most often old, a no-no in this society -- in grim situations should be applauded. "prisoners of age" peers into the abyss with courage and the result is the antithesis of fantasyland.

Prisoners of Age - Excellent Quality
I found the book Prisoners of Age to be a very powerful and revealing collection of portraits and photo essays. The images were on par with the photography of Richard Avedon and Mary Ellen Mark. This book forces you to slow down and think about our aging prison population not just as a number but as real people with hopes and dreams. This book does not attempt to pass judgment about the incarceration of the aged but lets the viewer draw his or her own conclusions. The overall quality of the book is outstanding with first rate printing and cutting edge design and layout that showcases the photography.

An American Odyssey
I spent hours browsing the sobering and, at times, shocking stories of these aged and infirm inmates in the prison system of the southern U.S. The portraiture, stunning design and layout of this book made it a thoroughly engaging read. I only hope the "Prisoners of Age" exhibition itself comes to the east coast so that I can have a chance to see it in person.
