This book is by far the absolute best book that will ever be written about Elvis. The authors are sincere Elvis fans who have done their homework, and it truly shows in this masterpiece. Whether you are a lifelong Elvis fan, or an "outsider looking in", this book is a must read. If you are an Elvis skeptic, read this book and you will be smitten for good. Kudos to the authors!!!

A must for every Elvis fan!
At last, a book written with love and respect, like Elvis deserved. The authors know and love their subject and it shows... they're not trying to make us believe that Elvis was perfect but that he was a very human being with all the good and bad that come with it. Great suggestions of books, CD's, videos and web sites. You'll know Elvis more intimately after reading this book... and that's a very enjoyable way to know him, isn't it?

Abigail Adams -- At long last !!!
At last, a well written, well researched book on one of America's most fascinating ladies, Abigail Adams. Based on carefully interjected original research and letters, this book provides a long needed look at the issues and challenges that faced Abigail Adams. The author portrays her as a woman, very much in love with her husband, very much in love with her country, and very willing to try to balance the needs of both. It is striking to realize how totally independent she became in financial affairs, and in domestic issues. The book reminds you of the challenges of communications and distance. It also makes you aware of the personal sacrifices this family made for the young, emerging nation. The focus of the book is on Abigail, but sufficient information on the political events and political players is provided. An excellent look at a very important person. Don't miss it if you enjoy this period of history and are anxious to understand more about its key players.

Abigail Adams
Abigail Adams by Phyllis Lee Levin is an excellent companion work for David McCullough's John Adams.

Throughout life Abigail and John were inseparable, best of friends, and each others life. Through circumstances John was away in the service of forming a government and the duties to a new nation, but Abigail was not far from his heart, nor he from hers.

We see an unabated ardor in her for her "Best Friend" in life. Abigail Adams saw and wrote with clarity about the time leading to and after the Revolutionary War, and events following and her humanity. We have a unique perspective of the life and times of this period through her eyes written for posterity through her letters to a variety of people surrounding her life.

Not since Barbara Bush, has a woman been both a wife and mother to a President of the United States, even though she dies before John Quincy is elected. Abigail kept her family close to her heart and was the one to keep the family together and the family homestead viable in John's absence.

This is a well written book, solid in research, flowing prose and good details. This book captures Abigail Adams and shows us her intellegence and her perceptiveness of the events of her times. She wrote letters to Jefferson and had comments about all of the people, albeit caustic or poignant, close to John's work and life.

She loved John and missed him greatly when he was away, her letters attest to that, but when she was at his side both flourished. This book gives us a great insight into how Abigail was as a woman and how she coped with private and public life.

I recommend reading and enjoying this book.

So funny you'll howl
I laughed out loud or got misty-eyed (sometimes simultaneously) at the photos and captions in this book. The photographer has captured the essence of doggy expression. One of my favorites (and there are many) is the tilted head and "I'm listening" look of the dog for whom it is wished, "May you always understand what is being said to you." This book is a lovely gift for yourself or any dog people you know.

This book barks up the right tree
I have seen this book and being a dog lover, I really enjoyed it. Some of the captions for the pictures made me laugh out loud. I saw an interview with the authors and the said that The dog we call an Irish Setter her in the US, is called a Red Setter in Ireland. The Pictures are great and the captions are even better.

Mark Gruhin Chapter Fantastic!
This is an excellent book with an extremely insightful and fascinating chapter written by Mark I. Gruhin. He is a very skilled writer and lawyer, and I look forward to his future writings.

Great Book-Very Interesting....
Being a lawyer in NYC, I was very impressed with some Inside the Minds: Interne Lawyers. Although it is impossible to cover every Internet related topic, the book does a good job at covering some very interesting topics. In addition, the individuals portrayed in the book represent a good cross sampling of different talents related to Internet law. I particularly enjoyed the interview with Mark Fischer at Palmer & Dodge. If you are a woman, make sure to also check out Inside the Minds: Leading Women.

Passionate writing about one of society's greatest denials.
Mary Gjetson Levin has done an outstanding job of portraying the alchoholic relationship and household. At times I found this book difficult to read as it echoed my own family's struggles with an alchoholic father and husband. Levin's bold writing brings a sense of love and humanity to an otherwise lost relationship. Her delicate balance of writing and honesty presents a MUST READ for anyone in an alchoholic relationship. This is a good book to give to those in need. I could not put this book down!

A Must Read-
Give Catherine much credit for sharing the most private moments of her life/family with the world. I'm certain it was not easy.
This book is hard to put down once you read the first sentence.

Heart-wrenching, Tragic, and Incredible.....A Must Read
Dear John.....was an experience. Whether or not you know someone who is an alcoholic, this book is a must read! In reading Catherine and John Forde's letters I have gained an understanding of the effects and the signs of alcoholism. I highly recommend this book to everyone! I have given Dear John to a loved one who is in the beginning stages of alcoholism. I am hoping that Catherine and John's letters and stories are just as 'familiar' to him as they were to me. Lastly, I have learned that relationships and communication is the key to staying healthy and having control through life's obstacles.

A good effort
Quite often, publishers of media tie-in books and producers of media product, want to make sure they market their product as quickly as possible, which is why early efforts in successful and not successful media tie-in novels are not up to par. This is the case with Leather Wings. The story on the whole is interesting, albeit a little thin, but where the novel fails is in the capturing of the characters' personalities. A media tie-in novel is most successful when you can visualize your favorite character speaking and behaving in the way described in the novel. This is not the case with this work as the characters' dominent trait is brought out and then the reader is beaten over the head with it. In the series, Devon Adair is determined to get to New Pacifica, but she is not blinded to what is happening around her. In this book, she is very blinded and I find it hard to beleive why anyone would follow her. The author admits the show wasn't even on the air at the time he wrote it, and I give him credit for trying, but it would be nice if these series waited a while before engaging in media tie-ins.

I miss Earth 2
I really liked the TV show and sorely miss it. I am therefore ever grateful to the few authors who have written anything on the show, hence the extra star. It is only really a 2 star book, Vornholt has done better before and worse! Out of all the Earth 2 books out there, I personally prefer the Sean Dalton novel Puzzle because he has the characters right. Earth 2 : Leather Wings by Vornholt is an okay book. The colonists arrive at an enormous canyon which stretches as far as the eye can see in either direction. Way down below a river rages. Somehow they must find a way across.

Shakespeare's Secret Schemers: The Study of an Early Modern Dramatic Device

A disturbed man
Mr.Levin's thinking can hardly be charicterized as rational. I was in a course of his at UC Davis, in which I experienced his thinking first-hand. His logic and his anything-but-linear mode of thought would drive even the most patient individual absolutely nuts. I dropped his course after 2 and a half weeks, but sometimes at night it still haunts me. This book is not recommended either.
