Simply the best Expository Dictionary that I know !!!
Flavio F. Lima - ( livifla@bol.com.br ) - The only thing that I don't liked was the little words of the Old Testament in it. However, this famous Dictionary is my guide when I need to understand the true meaning of the greek words. Yes every Bible student must have it in your personal library. It is an excellent reference work !

An Excellent Reference Work
An Excellent work which is if Aid to all Bible Students. The Paper is not of as nice quality as I would like, but Durable non the less. However the content and description should make this book one of the top of the list for any serious student.

An excellent book for a deeper understanding of Bible truth.
Vine's Expository Dictionary gives excellent word pictures and meanings of the original languages found in the Word of God. It is a resource book that every preacher should have for preparing sermons for their local body of believers. Nothing helps make the Scripture come alive for listeners like a clearer understanding of what the writers of the books of the Bible were trying to present through their choice of certain words in the Greek and Hebrew languages. This book opens the door of understanding of the original languages of the Bible.

The best advice for writers by the best advisor and writer
I must say, that when I first picked this book up, I was a bit skeptical. It was wrapped in plastic giving me no idea of what was in it, and it was by some publishing company I never heard of. But, being an impulse buyer, I paid for it, and brought it to a coffee shop where I continued to read and read, on the way home, while watching television, and even when I went to bed, and did not put it down until I read the whole thing. As a writer and fellow fan of Faulkner, I highly recommend this book to any student or fan (what's the difference, though?) of Faulkner's writings, and especially to any writers out there, and most of all, any Faulkner teachers. Faulkner is asked any question you can think of in this book, from certain meanings in his, "The Bear", to the long time controversy about the order of sections in "The Sound and the Fury", to the Adlers in "As I Lay Dying", all the way to why he prefers the Old Testament to the New. He even puts down Henry James in this book, and talks about his greatest influences on his writing, his favorite books (such as Cervantes' Don Quixote) and even puts in some good advice to aspiring authors, and how they should take writing, and even advice on how to write in the traditional Southern Gothic style. Truly a magnificent book that deserves top priority to any fan or teacher of Faulkner, or any writer in general! A masterpiece!!!

Makes Complicated Ideas Easy
I checked this book out at my local college and kept renewing it so I could finish more chapters. Finally I ran out of renewing times and decided I really needed to own my own copy.

The book is detailed and precise. It is relatively hard yet light on math and what there is is explained well. It has great graphics and clear explanations that make the most advanced topics easy to visualize and understand. The problems at the end of the chapter are great for review.

It's the best introductory chem book I've ever seen. Better than any chem course.

Simple learning for an advanced class
This book is excellent for the Bioorganic chemistry. I went into my class terrified and overwhelmed. I was actually able to follow along better with the book than my actual teacher. The diagrams are clear cut and gives many examples. I love the factual clips in every chapter about nature or medicine and how this all relates to bioorganic chemistry. I found the clips a breather and a break from the complicated matter. This book finds a way to explain one thing in many different ways so that even the beginner can comprehend it at an advanced level. This book got me through the class with an A.

A must buy for descendants of Magna Carta Sureties
This book is an excellent resource for those researching descents from one of the Magna Carta Barons or those named in the preamble as advisors to King John. Each line is accompanied by a list of sources for the descent from one of the Barons to an American Colonist.

Outstanding Readable Reference Work
While there are numerous reference works relating the descendancy of the Magna Charta Barons, this one is concise, documented and continues across the Atlantic to the early Colonists of North America. Being unencumbered with commentaries on historical events, this book reveals lineage after lineage after lineage providing the researcher with an invaluable tool to document centuries of family history.

Admiral Halsey's Story
This book is a great book because it encases all the true purities of a book written by the person it's about from what I found it contained no historical inacuracies and listed the key players on his staff during his command as COMSPAC,3rd U.S. Pacfic Fleet. Its very humble in his writings which I believe reflects his pesonality for instance he discredits this newsman by giving him the Bull nickname and said that wrong with letting damn slip out here and there and an ocansional Oh sht he once said "I don't trust a fighting man who doesn't drink and smoke" ,but that right there is the Halsey personality which can't be changed or fixed fro the modern world which my opion is the pits .

an essential
With the exception of the short dictionary at the back of my Greek New Testament, no tool has been of more use in my study of Biblical Greek than this lexicon.

More than just a dictionary, the strength of this lexicon is that it gives both specific meanings of words in context as well as a knowledge of the shadings of meaning that a word carries throughout the Bible. This moves the student from a general grasp of a thing to an attentiveness to the precise way God has made himself known--there is nothing quite like it.

As other reviewers have noted, this is probably not a good place for beginners hoping to do a word study to jump in. I'd recommend Vine's for that. I also recommend that those serious in the study of Biblical Greek use this book in conjunction with a Greek New Testament, Mr. Mounce's Grammar (his lexicon is handy too), and Zerwick's Grammatical Analysis. This broad group of tools should help keep you from falling pray to a single interpretive spin.

Don't let its size and price scare you off--this book is essential for the student of Biblical Greek.

Intelllectually demanding, but worth it
This book makes you work for each little bit of understanding. The method of giving many, many different examples of usage for each Greek word really broadens your understanding of each word, but is time-consuming.

This lexicon is excellent for word studies beyond the Strong's level and will drive you nuts if you don't know your case forms yet (I know from experience).

But all in all, this is a resource no Biblical scholar or wannabe scholar should be without. I'd recommend getting Strong's Concordance, Vine's Expository Dictionary, a Greek New Testament and this book to go along with a New American Standard Bible for the novice in Greek.

Your understanding of the New Testament and of Greek will grow by leaps and bounds with diligent study of these very basic resources - even if you don't intend to study Koine Greek professionally.

Confirmation of proper usage is very important
If it were not for this lexicon the serious, but "linguistically challenged" scholar, would have a hard time understanding the correct usage of just about any Koine Greek word. By comparring the usage in the NT and the writings of Josephus and early Christian writers, we can discern how the early church used a certain Greek word, in fact, what the Apostle's intended to convey in their writings. No other lexicon in existance does this. If there is such a thing a "truth" this lexicon shows what the early church taught that it was. Throw out all of your other lexicons and buy this one.
