Must-read for anyone seeking to understand fire behavior!
Written in an understandable, practical manner, this book makes a difficult subject comprehensible by even the unscientifically minded.
The author writes clearly and the book is very readable. The text is accompanied by great photographs & illustrations.
What a relief to find this book after attempting to plow through some of the other texts on this subject. Highly recommended!

Kirk's Fire Investigation
The chief god of fire investigation has spoken. DeHaan wrote a complete and through text about fire investigation. If you are serious about fire investigation, this is a must book in your library. It is a tough book in read. So, buy it and review it again and again.

Great practical advice from America's top strategic thinker
John Warden was the architect for the most successful campaign in the 90 year history of air combat. He has brought his insights to the corporate world. A truly original thinker, Warden not only thinks outside the box but helps others do so. Highly recommended for leaders at all levels and for courses at business schools and corporate universities.

If Sun Tzu had been an entrepreneur:
If Sun Tzu had been an entrepreneur this book would have been written centuries ago.

Using a concise war-winning paradigm, Warden and Russell have successfully captured the essence of designing a business strategy that will work every time. There are three things that make this book a proverbial "must read."

- It cuts to the chase by explaining what a business strategy needs to provide to everyone in the organization and does this in way that everyone from the mail clerk to the CEO can understand.
- It proves the KISS principle doesn't have to produce a "Business for Dummies" approach.
- You can start reading the book on Monday, finish it on Tuesday, begin to institute change on Wednesday, and by Friday be making a difference.

Frankly, I think it's the best book I've read since "Thriving on Chaos" by, Tom Peters.

Great book for leaders and future leaders
John Warden is the unsung hero of the Gulf War. He was the architect of the air campaign that brought a million man Iraqi army to its knees in 38 days. He now has taken this great ideas to the corporate and non-profit worlds. Probably the best strategic thinker in the world today, you can see and hear Warden on all the networks commenting about the war against terrorism. Great book--easy to read. Highly recommended.

A very decent book for all levels of biology
I am now taking IB Biology now, and my sis gave this book to me hoping it will help me. The book gets to the point in what they are trying to say. For instance the chapter on cells, the book gets to the point the structures and functions and also at the same time state it in a very easy way. It does not give you pages and pages of nonsense. Getting this book give you an opportunity to have a quick review each day on what is said in class and also gives you a detailed information in a quick way. IF you think you are the type that cannot catch up in either your IB biology or AP biology i recommend getting this book. THis book also goes well with the college review series for Chemistry if you are taking higher lever chemistry.

Excellent Supplement to the Text
This book was instrumental in helping me grasp details as well as concepts. It was inclusive of all the of the topics covered in my General Biology class, and helped reinforce the material with well-drawn diagrams. It's well-written, organized, and easy to comprehend. I intend to buy the Organic Chemistry book as soon as possible.

Great Survey of England Circ. 1540's
This is a wonderful reference book for England during the period of Henry VIII's reign. John Leland (or Leyland as it may have been written in his day) was Henry's servant and passed soon after his master left this world. This book was a survey of his travels around England circ. 1540's. Though the book is not complete by any means, it does provide some information about some of the shires, cities, towns and hamlets in England. Specifically the following shires are noted (alphabetically): Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Cheshire, Cornwall, Cumberland, Derbyshire, Devon, Dorset, Durham, Essex, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Herefordshire, Hertfordshire, Huntingdonshire, Kent, Lancashire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, London & Middlesex, Norfolk, Northamptonshire, Northumberland, Nottinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Rutland, Shropshire, Somerset, Staffordshire, Suffolk, Surrey, Sussex, Warwickshire, Westmorland, Wiltshire, Worcestershire, and Yorkshire. The book has a superb index of names and places.

As I have worked on a genealogical survey of my family with roots in England, I have found this book to be indispensable. Many times a place is mentioned in family lore which I have been able to locate in Leland's Itinerary. On the whole, I believe this to be a great resource book though not a great reading book.

Not a good bet
This is NOT a particularly good/useful book.

I took the GRE Biology subject test in 12/1999. I used several different study aids, and scored in the top 97%. This book does not get any of the credit. The book is too simplistic and limited in scope--there is considerable material on the exam this book does not even address. It is not as wretched as some others; (to wit, The Best Test Preparation for the GRE Biology Subject Exam, by Ogden, which was so bad I don't think Amazon even sells it any more), but it is unlikely you will achieve a high score on the test if it's your sole source of study material.

I found the most useful study aids to be the slim test handbook put out by ETS itself (Amazon does sell it, at both a lower price and lower shipping cost than buying it direct from ETS. Go figure.), and the textbooks Biology by Campbell and Molecular Biology of the Cell by Alberts, et al.

Cracking the GRE Biology Subject Test by Deborah Guest was all right for a more simplistic review, but insufficent if you're gunning for really high scores.

This one just isn't worth the time or the money, when there are better options.

KJC Manufacturing Practice Set
Published in Paperback by McGraw-Hill Higher Education (02 February, 1999)
Authors: Kermit D. Larson, John J. Wild, Barbara Chiappetta, and Leland Mansuetti
Amazon base price: $31.60
Average review score:

Too simplistic and uses periodic inventory method.
I ordered this practice set to test and exercise ERP software. I wanted to enter and manipulate master inventory items, bills of material, work orders, mrp, purchase orders, sales orders, vouchers, invoices, general journals, ending up in financial statements with schedules especially for perpetual inventory. Instead, this book gives one month's worth of periodic inventory and non-inventory transactions with expected trial balance and retained earnings figures given. I'm not finding what I need out there, so I think I will just supplement this book with inventory transaction detail.
