I'm buying a second copy!
A wonderful, practical collection of very useful tips that I wish I could have referred to when my wife and I were raising children.

A Compilation of Great Advice for ALL Parents.
Being an avid Parents magazine subscriber, I turn through their pages every month searching for advice from parents across the country. It's almost like sitting in a room, sharing your best ideas with hundreds of other parents. Although Parents magazine features this every month, it's amazing that they've created an entire BOOK about this useful information. At least one in five of these tips could work for you. Creativity from around the nation combines into these pages to provide you with unforgettable hints and tips to make parenting a LITTLE easier and more fun for the kids. I've learned a lot in the past two years from just other parents' advice and strategies. It also helps you stimulate alternative ways of disciplining your children. I recommend this book to all parents willing to learn a little more about themselves and their children. Instead of arguing and cleaning up, you'll spend more quality time with the little people you love.

Sally Ann Thunder Ann Whirlwind Crockett: A Tall Tall
Steven Kellogg is wonderful telling the story of Sally Ann from her birth, her running, and the bear battle, to meeting and marrying Davey Crockett. Very strong woman. This folklore tale has excellent color illustrations. I would highly recommend this one for reading to and by the K through the 8th grade, along with a recommendation for teachers and parents, also.

one of my favorite chidren's books!
This was a great book especially for young girls. It tells the story of a female hero and all her adventures. Even after marrying Davy Crockett, one of the most famous folk hero's, Sally Ann remains independent and the greatest hero in the book. I highly recomend it to anyone, especially those interested in folk tales.

Practical Advice!
This is an easy to read, practical book for the parent of a 3-4 year old. It offers easy to read information without the drudgery of tons of reading. I think Parent Magazine is fabulous, having subscribed to it for many years myself. I'm so pleased to see that they are giving the best of what they have to offer in this book. As a behavior specialist and author of The Voucher System Behavior Management Program, I have spent a great deal of time and effort looking for a book that addresses the challenges and questions that often arise with a four year old. (Children are learning so much at age four and need a great deal of parent/child interaction. It's also the age where they learn that "no" really means "no".) This book is my choice for the best most concise book on children of this age. I highly recommend it! I also recommend the book that follows this one on the 5-6 year old.

Very helpful for all fabric work w/ very good illustrations
This book is a very good guide to all sorts of transfer methods on fabric for any kind of fabric work. It is very user friendly because the wording is clear and concise with very good full color examples that go along with the text. Troubleshooting hints are included with each method as well a lot of other useful hints. The examples and pictures of the actual work are very helpful in that they show many different applications of each technique and really help to get you thinking of ways to be able to further play with and modify the methods shown. Also, it is very clearly laid out into categories per chapter that make it very easy to use as a quick reference. A reference chart is included in the book telling the basic overview of each technique with information concerning the permanence of the method, fabric types recommended for each method, as well as many other useful info that really make this book very easy to use and covers the basics of most any kind of transfer method you could need. I originally had to buy this book for a fibers class I was taking but it has been more helpful after the class ended because it really was a very easy to use by being very easy to quickly reference with it's clear layout and detailed description of all of the advantages and disadvantages of each of the methods clearly labeled. It is a very good book and would recommend it to anyone interested in any kind of quilt or fabric work.

Imagery on Fabric
After seeing the demonstration today on the Carol Duval Show on HGTV, I am definitely ordering this book! What intersting ideas for quilting fabric! Loved it!

Fiber Artist's Bible
From high tech computer photo transfer to the ancient art of leaf hammering, this book is a comprehensive presentation of fabric manipulation and imagery. Avoiding the "cutesy" trap of so many crafts books, this volume is sophisticated and will be useful to artists and crafters of many styles and sensibilities.

Imagery on Fabric is smartly organized by method, rather than individual project, allowing for much more creativity from the reader. Each process is thoroughly explained and accompanied by fabulous photos of work by professional fiber artists as well as hobbyists. Laury also includes a useful list of resources for the various products and equipment that she discusses in her book.

When I bought this book I was just fiddling with fabric and art quilts. Laury and her book singlehandedly motivated me to fully embrace fiber arts as an exciting means of artistic expression.

More and More Tips
This is a grand book. Loads of useful tips. It's a compiled list of many of their magazine articles (tips) and some new. WHile I save their magzines after I read them, this is at my finger tips. It is almost the very same idea as two other awesome books from moms who care and have added their own incredible style for almost identical parenting situations (but yet very different) "Mommy-CEO," by nationally syndicated parenting columnist of Parent to Parent, Jodie Lynn and "Little Bits of Wisdom," by new mom Joise Bissett. You're pretty much set by buying all three of these amazing books. It's about time that publishers are finally seeing that parents have tried and true information to share that really works on every day parenting. "Mommy-CEO" does let all moms - and dads too - know the importance of their jobs within the family and does include professional advice from seven doctors who are all women except for two men. "Lttle Bits of Wisdom" is fun and enjoyable with doable tricks for babies. Just like Parent Magazine's new book, "Mommy-CEO," revised edition, goes into plenty of detail from hundreds of parents and treats us like the real experts! There's plenty of books on parenting, but these three are some of the ones that are practical and quick to get an answer on. This is the information all parents need and want: finger tip at a glance easy tips. Praise for these three books are pretty much incredible among plain ordinary parents like us. If you are shoppig for Christmas now and thinking of giving books, to your friends and family - buy them today for yourself, and stock up on them for gifts. One other I have found to be successful is Everything Baby's First Food Book, by Janet Tarlov. It's an outstanding book for food. You know to be perfectly blunt, we are swamped SWAMPED with TMI: Too Much Information on parenting skills. As a part of my career, I read books daily and know these three will give you insight you need and are seeking. The parenting expert, Jodie Lynn, in "Mommy-CEO" does talk it straight with women on taking care of themselves and offers down to earth reasons on why we have to stop overscheduling ourselves and our families with her 5 golden rules. I shout bravo to all of these great treasures as they can be read over and over!

A treasure trove of practical advice on child-rearing.
One of my favorite parts of Parents magazine is the "It Worked For Me" section. Think of this book as a 468 page article filled with tips and advice from parents all over America! However, not only do you get the parents' personal tips, but you also get professional advice for such things as building self-esteem, teaching etiquette, vaccination schedules, and so many other relevant and sometimes urgent topics.

I think of this book as being the equivalent of having several hundred friends that you can pick up the phone to call for advice when your child is in the throes of a tantrum, isn't interested in the potty AT ALL, or won't eat/latch on/give up that binky. There are also sections on planning a vacation with kids, doing crafts, and finding a reliable caregiver, so it's not all kid-behavior oriented...but it is all common-sense, practical advice that when you are on your last nerve, may just add a few axons to the bundle!
