A diverse, well-represented collection
From print media and journals to business and general interest publications, the authors have searched for the best business accounts from the past year, providing vignettes and accounts primarily nonfiction in content, but telling of business goals, individuals, and strategies. A diverse, well-represented collection.

Terrific (and buy 2001 too)
Great anthology from a wide variety of sources (the usual financial journals plus some interesting exotic publications (Mother Jones?)). Not a clunker in the lot. Buy this one and its 2001 predecessor and you will be fascinated. Hope this series continues for many years...

A great, entertaining and thought provoking read...
What a simple, yet compelling, concept. Scour all of the business magazines (mostly major ones, though), and pick the best 27 articles of the prior year, independent of field of interest. Then lay them out with no extra fluff, letting the original work be the star attraction. Such is the concept behind this book, which was both a quick read and difficult to put down.

With stories ranging from the rise, fall and re-rise of fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger to a joyous piece on Ron Popeil of quirky gadget-maker (and those accompanying infomercials) Ronco fame to an amazing tome on emerging "digital paper" technology that has to be read to be fully appreciated, this book covered a myriad of topics that I probably would not have gone out of my way to track down, but having read about them in this book, my appetite to read on has only been whetted.

If you are looking to expand your horizons beyond the two or three topics that currently represent your comfort zone, this book is an easy and enjoyable way to dip your toes in the water.

Strongly recommended.

Great; please continue series
This is a terrific book. Every article in it is well-written and interesting, unusual for an anthology as they almost always contain at least one or two flawed pieces. Not here. And what a range...from the usual suspects of Fortune, Wall Street Journal, etc. to the Detroit Free Press and even Mother Jones. The next volume for 2002 is also great.

Excellent business stories
A terrific collection of well-written and fascinating pieces of business journalism. I picked this book up at an airport expecting to read just a few of the stories that looked interesting. I ended up reading the entire book cover to cover. Each story offers an insightful and interesting view of a particular business or industry. For anyone interested in the corporate scandals that seem to be erupting in the business world on a near-weekly basis, you will find yourself completely absorbed by this book in no time at all.

Interesting Reading to Know More About USA Business
This is a collection of 30 business-related articles published in newspaper and magazines in yr2002. Many of them in this edition are about ethics, e.g. questionable accounting practices, role conflict of auditors and financial analysts, overpaid executives etc..There are other topical subjects, e.g. influence of technology, free trade, globalisation, workplace diversity.

The editors have picked up many articles that raise insightful questions and issues. They provide ¡§behind the scene¡¨ information and personalities. Interesting to read casually. The stories talk little about making money or improving corporate performance. They are more about ethnics, fairness and justice. Some articles are openly critical about individual companies or persons.

This book is very enriching to readers who are not familiar with American business practices. For example, non-Americans can have a strong feel about how serious are antitrust investigations and lawsuits in The USA.. The coverage of industries is wide. In addition to popular businesses like IT, finance, manufacturing, you also have banana planting, ice harvesting, auctioning, religious organisations etc..

Very Disappointed
The blurbs for this book are very misleading. It is a text for beginning investors. Each chapter starts with a quote from Twain, but it has little else to do with him. The entire references to Twain probably don't exceed 5 pages of text. If you are interested in Mark Twain - forget it. Not much here. If you are interested in basic investing principles - likewise forget it - I have seen much better.

More Twain, Less Leckey
I was hoping this book would be more Twain and less Leckey. I was disappointed. Each chapter starts with one quote from Twain, and Leckey provides some background context. That's about 10% of the book. The other 90% is Investing 101 stuff.

A lighthearted investment primer
The author intertwines Mark Twains' insight, humor, and timeless wisdom with the current investment landscape. This is a good, yet basic primer for someone wanting to understand investment opportunities and pitfalls available today. It provides perspective on speculative opportunities, scams, and solid investments, choices that have been available to the novice and savvy investor alike since Twains' time.

The book contains 49 easily digestible chapters including: "The Law of Averages Eventually Makes You Right", "He Who Hesitates Can Save a Lot More" "Mutual Fund Expenses Can Hoodwink You" "Every Period in History Had It's Fools Gold", all applicable to today's investor.

There are many similar books on the market offering the same or similar advice. If you enjoy Mark Twain, and prefer your investment reading to be sprinkled with his perspective, buy this one, otherwise keep looking, you'll find another equally good book that provides the basics.
