Outstanding edition! Excelent job!
The reading structure allow the reader to visualize and understand American History from outside and inside. Wonderful maps, statistical charts, great photos, and a very good section titled: historical question. If you are the type of person in exploring new perspectives of the American History, do not hesitate to look this book.

Deeper Experiences of Famous Christians
Published in Paperback by Barbour & Co (1900)
Author: James Gilchrist Lawson
Amazon base price: $5.97
Average review score:

For the person who is serious about knowing God.
This reader-friendly composite of biographical sketches is directed to the person who is not satisfied with nominal Christian living. The author points directly to each biographee's source of spiritual renewal and/or completion, i.e, the Holy Spirit, and subsequent effects. An interesting aspect of this work is its transdenominational nature; no particular sect is endorsed, though many are included by virtue of their highlighted adherants. If the reader is honestly interested in a closer walk with God, this book will provide plenty of inspiration.

The Fanatic
I enjoyed the wit, and gentle poking fun of religions (of all types) that have a way of leading mortals astray. While recognizing that dogma may hinder spiritual development, Lawson demonstrates that the fullest measure of a religious life, or any life, is in the living of life. His subtle humor is ruthlessly charming.

More mutants and hackmaster esque goofiness
Technically part of the After The Bomb line this book is chock full of new mutant species, some of which you might not even have known existed in real life. It also includes some intresting to not so intersting setting information on post apocalytpic australia and the surrounding regions, including the menacing human empire of jakarta. Very goofy in a deadpan ad&d way, very eighties. But it holds a place in my heart as one of the earlier rpg's I ever played. I'll never forget the night my mutant platypus named Guido got in a fight with Cristos's porcupine character over who got the last jolt soda in real life. Ahhh, those were the days.

The American Promise, Volumes 1 and 2
This book omits several important events in U. S. History up to 1865. But is sufficient for introductory classes in U. S. History. While it does a sufficient job as a survey source, it is not recommended for an in-depth study of any period in U. S. History. Further, Roark seems to emphasize some events that seem less important to U. S. History.

Very well written.
This book is very well written, quite long, though

Valuable reference source: good data
The written part of this book is not terribly interesting, but the data, which occupy the bulk of its pages are on very interesting topics and appear to be very carefully put together. Their summary indices should be ignored since they seem to be derived in some ad hoc fashion rather than by factor analysis or other systematic index construction technique. I expect to be using the material in multi-level analyses on a variety of topics. It is a book to dip into again and again. Ideally, it should come with a cd-rom presenting the data in some readily searchable format. Perhaps in the next edition?

Moral Values in Liberalism and Conservatism (Andrew R. Cecil Lectures on Moral Values in a Free Society, Vol 16)
Published in Hardcover by Univ of Texas Press (1995)
Authors: Andrew R. Cecil, W. Lawson Taitte, Lectures on Moral Values in a Free Society (1994 Dallas) Proceedings, James Tobin, and Dick Armey
Amazon base price: $16.50
Average review score:

Didn't live up to my expectations
Instead of presenting a comparison between the two ideologies and how moral values coincide with those belief systems, this book simply presents five essays, most of an academic tinge and of a conservative leaning. Somewhat interesting but doesn't do a good job of dealing with the subject matter. A discussion of religion would have been nice in a book about morality. I guess we have to leave that debate up to Jim Wallis and Billy Graham?
