Rapture, 2nd Coming & Reigning With God Forever
This is the only book I know of that tells about the rapture of the church, the 2nd coming of Jesus and living for eternity with God. The book takes a somewhat complex subject and simplifies it truthfully. It explains so clearly the future of the Christian. There are beautiful, happy illustrations on each page. The judgement is mentioned briefly. A full page of "scripture notes for parents" give the Bible verses to verify each section. There is another page of teaching tips for parents and a picture to color at the end of the book. This book really helps to understand what is ahead for the believer. It is written on a child's level but I believe it is helpful for adults also.

a shot of good news
I read this book when still in manuscript form several years ago. Since that time I have put into practice many of the ideas in this very timely book. I believe that a working understanding of systems theory is very important to anyone in a leadership position. Dr. Lawson provides a readable, easy to understand overview of Bowen Theory and Systems Theory. I believe Dr. Lawson is spot on in saying that knowledge without practice isn't much help. Centering Prayer offers a tried and true spiritual practice that provides benefit to the individual as well as the organization.

I have been rector of a parish in So. California for 7 years and can attest that the prinicples in this book really do work. Forget what you have learned about management techniques and read this book.

A clear and concise, practical introdction
Kulananda clearly knows his subject well and has a good feeling for the needs of his readers. He introduces the main forms of Buddhist meditation and discusses many of its priciple ideas, always drawing out their practical, contemporary implications. Buddhism is shown to be as relevant today as it was 2,500 years ago.

Baseball Weekly Insider
This is the best publication that Baseball Weekly puts out. It has a lot of information about trends and where teams are headed and why things happened the way they did last year. It gives you things to look out for if you are a rotisserie buff or just an average baseball fan. Lot better than reading a lot of dry facts or endless paragraphs written by stat-heads. Any trained monkey can prove anything they want to if they give you the right stats. This book does not succumb to that trap.

I totally enjoyed studying these small books through Kay Arthur's inductive method. I learned so much and was able to see things that I probably never would have noticed without this book.

Fun & Informative
I was so thrilled when what I thought was a book ended up to be a rune set. The moment I unwrapped the set I noticed they were extremely well made and felt to be well intentioned. The book that is enclosed is very informational. I personally love that at the end of each reading there is a meditation section for each tablet.

A legitimate Kemetic divination system for our times!
I got this book and divination tool with hesitation, expecting it to be another one, maybe an interesting one. I have been involved in and learning the traditions of ancient Egypt, and I can assure you that the author is acquainted with the energies and archetypal patterns that are contained in the tablets. I have been using the system for a while and it's providing me insights and clarity on many matters.

I would recommend that the reader become acquainted with the mysteries and the deities of Ancient Egypt in order to better understand the layers of meanings of the tablets, as the author's guidance, after a while, becomes too vague. His focus is positive thinking, but at times it feels like he's avoiding within the picture aspects that, as readers, we may not want to see or encounter, but that are there and are a part of everyone's life. It's up to the reader, in my belief, to determine what tablets hold 'blockages' and other negative components that every divination tool includes.

The system is awesome and pretty complete, if the practitioner takes time to explore its depths and discover deeper layers of meaning.

Fun,informative, interesting...
This rune set is great if you love Egypt! Of course there are alot of rune sets but this one is particularly nice. 1. because of the egyptian theme; 2 because of the meditations;3 the information and history they give for each of the runes; 4 Alot of info. on the gods and goddess of ancient Egypt... This is a really good set!

Waste of time
I found this to be a waste of my time and money. I had to choose a book on usability in order to make a presentation on for a usability course I am taking at Ohio University. For the course we are reading Jakob Neileon's "Designing Web Usability." This book is a good book on usability.

I found "Usability: The Site Speaks for Itself" to be very uniteresting. The author's are constantly comparing themselves to Neilsen and tearing his books down. While I agree with the authors that there is no "one size fits all" approach to designing on the web and that different things work for different sites, Nielsen does as well. It seems to me that the authors should have worked on providing more useful content and a better layout (the book is laid out very poorly) than trying to bring Nielsen's views down.

I highly suggest that you don't purchase this book, but if you have money to throw away, send me an email, I have some real estate in Flordia I want to sell you too.

Excellent for practical decision making
I got this book unexpectedly. I wrote to Glasshaus expressing the difficulty in purchasing their titles in India and Bruce Lawson, their Brand Visionary, promptly responded with details and followed it up by sending me a complimentary copy of this book. I was quite surprised, to say the least. It will be tempting to dismiss this as a mere publicity gimmick, but Glasshaus does have a unique way of going about their publishing business. Take a look at their site. I wonder how many other big names in publishing maintain an interesting and useful blog, to mention just one.

Coming to the book itself. I have copies of Jakob Nielsen's books, "Home Page Usability" and "Designing Web Usability". I also have Steve Krug's "Don't make me think" among other books on usability in my personal collection. This Glasshaus title is as different as can be from all those books. For the first time, one gets to hear first person accounts of the how and why of usability decisions made on major, major web sites. I mean, when you are talking about Economist.com, BBC, eBay, evolt, MetaFilter etc, you are talking about some of the most powerful and influential web sites today. The personal narrative form of exposition is another refreshing change; you feel each author is talking directly to you and sharing his/her experiences in making the kind of usability decisions they did for their websites. Each account, when read carefully, can help a web professional connect the excellent groundwork of experts like Nielsen to the practical compulsions behind real-life usability decisions.

Another excellent aspect of the book is the range of web sites that are represented, right from the publishing might of the Economist to the media powerhouse that is the BBC to the ecommerce success of eBay to powerful online communities such as MetaFilter and Evolt. To round all this off, there is a personal ecommerce venture (SynFonts) that is an excellent showpiece for how the Web allows one man to compete with many. In other words, a terrrific amount of thought has gone into developing this book and Glasshaus cannot be commended enough for putting together such a fine team to share its views. I felt that non-profit and church/spiritual (beliefnet would have been a great example) sites were perhaps the only major categories to have been left out. Perhaps a second edition of this book will address that lacuna.

And, refreshingly for a book on Usability, there is almost no Nielsen-bashing in its pages, except a few words from Molly Holzschlag in the editorial, I think. But, then, Molly is always known to be a little irreverent:-)

The only other book of this genre that I can think of is "Web Site Usability: A Designer's Guide" by Jared M. Spool's User Interface Engineering (uie.com). But, I don't have a copy so can't really comment. If you are looking for practical examples of usability decision making, this book is a great title to have. Perhaps this review will serve as quid pro quo for Glasshaus' excellent gesture in sending me a complimentary copy that has given me so much learning.

Better than Guru books
Usability: The Site Speaks For Itself has been bedside reading for a couple months. This book has been a great downtime inspiration. This book, unlike the Guru usability books, teaches you how to approach Web interface design and development with the user in mind. The hard fast rules some experts espouse do not always work well with our own users. This book does a wonderful job teaching us how to think through the process. The book provides examples of six varied sites and their developer's approaches to creating usable sites for their audiences. This books is a joy to look at as well as read. There are many nuggets tucked in the pages that make it worth the price. When building Web sites it is best to remember the one constnt is it all depends and we need to know how to think through these situations.

You will know if your soul resonates to the Shaman's path.
You could do far worse than to make this gem-like little book your first introduction to the subject of shamanism. However, it is in no way a "how to" manual, as the title may suggest. It does give an excellent overview of the spirit and meaning of the shaman's path. Indeed, you will quickly discover if your soul resonates to the calling.
This is not a trivial "knock off" book on a popular subject. For instance, the topics of Shamanic Death and Rebirth are clearly addressed here without sugar coating. Actually, I am amazed that the author got so much content and meaning in such a small and heavily illustrated little book. I mean, he touches on traditional cultures such as the Native American, African, Arctic, Nordic, Aboriginal, and Tibetan, while also addressing parallels in Egyptian and Greek antiquity.
All this, and beutifully designed and illustrated, too. Don't expect a coffee table book- this volume will fit in your breast pocket.

Too cute ..
I nearly fell over laughing when I read the title. I had to open the book. Inside was a very, very brief introduction to Shamanism. And a very good introduction. It's one of the cutest books I've ever read, just because of the enormity of the subject and the tininess of the book.

You're not going to learn how to be a Shaman with this book! But, if you have questions about what is a Shaman, this is a rather good answer. Good for children too, who in this so-called New Age, are asking about everything... Wicca, Christianity, Shamanism, 'who's the guy in the cool robes?' Now, you'll have the answer.

Good... and Thorough
The other review on this page is very accurate... This book will not convert you or make you aware of all that a shaman is or needs to be, but it will awaken you. There is a line that assists you in questioning whether you have what it takes to be a shaman and Lawson replies in effect.. you wouldn't be reading this book if you thought otherwise.

Peace and Goodwill to You!
