I've looked many years for a book that is spiritual, but doesn't talk down to kids, to share with my many grandchildren. There is another: "God's Paintbrush" but we have read it so many times that I needed something new. This is it! A wonderful, delightful exploration of who God is, and what God does in the world through us. Cuddle up to your grandchildren with this one.

We travelled to Germany in May returning in June. We had purchased four travel books to help us in our places to stay. After two days we mailed the other books home from my brother-in-laws. Brown's book on Germany was the only book we should have taken. The say the least, it was helpful. We have already purchased the Irish volume and are planning our trip for next year. One other comment: the author did not do justice to all the places we stayed, they were better than they were wrote up as!

Whether you work on huge, complex, international projects for one of the Fortune 50 or you are putting together a family reunion, you will find something of value in this little book. But don't let either the size of the book (pocket) or the size of the print (small) fool or intimidate you. The ideas are clear and accessible.

These two consultants have written a project management book for our times. Their approach is team-based and collaborative -- particularly useful for those of us who work in organizations that use teams but still think in functional silos -- as well as practical and flexible. Personally, I have always found other project management models to be too complex, too highly delineated, and too quantitative. This approach is logical, fact-based, and flexible enough for me to work the parts that apply and skip the ones that don't.

I highly recommend the book as well as the approach. If you want to get the full benefit of their methodology, bring the authors in for in-house training. That way, the kinesthetic and auditory processors in your organization will "get it" even better.

As a college placement counselor in a highly-competitive preparatory school for many years, I have found this book to be most valuable in preparing parents for dealing with the angst of a young adult who is going away to college. It also tells you what to expect during their first years away. Buy it early in a student's senior year for the greatest benefit. This is a classic and a jewel!

This book is very easy to read and provides useful information to parents of new college students. I am the author of The ABC's of College Life, a hip street-smart guide for college bound students and I give Letting Go two thumbs up!!

This book and When Your Kid Goes to College were worth many hours of therapy during the late summer and early fall of my son's first quarter at college, especially around the time we took him down to school. I preferred Letting Go because it was more comprehensive, but other parents might prefer When Your Kid...There is a wide array of situations to learn from and to place your own experience in context. The authors provide trend material from their long-term research to help parents distinguish their child's college context from their own. I observed other parents coping with this transition unaided. Some were fine but others were having trouble and personalized the experience. Facts do help mitigate emotions. I recommended this book to one overwhelmed mother whose prodigy had gone far away to pursue her talent. Her response was "Thank you, I'll let you know when I am ready for a book (ital.)" as if this would be cold comfort for her personal loss. But the fact is, the authors know way more than most of our friends and relatives do; and the number of parents going through this experience is very large (check the book for figures). There is a great deal to learn both from the academic analysis and from the many examples of parents' experiences. Well researched, well written, logical and helpful.

This is really a facile treatment of an extraordinarily complex subject. Sweepstakes "artists" can claim to be the first professionals. Indeed, records go back to early Myan times in the Americas, the 1st dynastic period in China, and to Ramses I in Egypt - basically as far back as written records. I really didn't get the sense that the individual writing knew the historical context as well as he should have.

Not a very incisive view but to be honest I just found this book boring. Not very insiteful and not a real pageturner.

I'm not college educated on this subject and I can't speak to the truths at large. Still, I found this book kind of lacking in the details. I really wish that the authors had taken the time to try to draw somemore substance into it before going and making conclusions.
