Woman on Women - The Humor We Need To See In Ourselves
It is easy to recommend this humorous discourse done by this extremely funny woman that puts humorous accounts to everyday life issues that we take far too seriously. As you listen to this audio tape, you will hear yourself laughing out loudly on more than once occasion.

Most of us have been in nearly all the situations she decribes as "rites of passage". These are not the same rites that Gail Sheehy describes, but the humorous rites.

If you don't laugh at her "Bathroom Rite" and her "Swimsuit Try-On Rite", you need to have your HUMOR botton checked the next time you have a physical exam.

We, that have had children, have all vowed that we would not raise our children as our mothers did.......we were going to do things differently. When the tough gets going, you hear the dialogue slip into your speech that you vowed you would never use (your mother's words!). Loretta's take on this whole situation is so very humorous that your sides will ache from the laughter.

What discussion would be complete that did not contain a discourse on sex and our relationships with our partners. "Why is it ALWAYS about HIM?" Ms. LaRoche's take off on the self-help books and magazines is hilarious. Find out the magical SIX WORDS to perfect sex.

If you are having "a less than perfect day", pop this tape into your tape deck, and laugh your way into a perfect day!

Life Is Not a Stress Rehearsal: Bringing Yesterday's Sane Wisdom into Today's Insane World

Too much whining!!
This could have been a good book, but Ms. LaRoche never lets up on comparing todays lifestyle to that of her grandmother - a useless endeavour. She obviously avails herself of all the modern conveniences - like voice mail, TV, fast food, etc but complains incessantly about the present way of life. The book assumes if we enjoy updated technology or spend a few hours watching sitcoms, that we have lost touch with our families, values etc. Ms.LaRoche is sometimes amusing however she offers little realistic advice.

Funny and full of good advice
I found this to be a charming book, which is rare in self-help books. Loretta LaRoche is witty, and her in-your-face style of writing lends a great deal of wisdom and advice in this book. I love her analogies of listening to the "inner Grandmother" instead of the "inner child." It just makes sense.
Bravo, Ms. LaRoche, Bravo.

Common sense in an uncommon book
In a book filled with real wisdom, Laroche points out the insanities of life in the 21st century. You would think that we would have learned what is really important, but Laroche points out with punchiness and humour what is lacking today: the need for moderation. Instead of listening to the inner child, we need to listen to our inner grandmother. It means not being obsessed with materialism and workaholism and e-mail and reality TV, and spending time instead taking care of ourselves (take a walk and eat a tomato) and spending time laughing with family and friends (better than St. John's wort as a cure for the blues). Common sense is not that common, and Laroche spells out in clear language what we should have known all along, but have not always done in our lives.

The book is chockful of meaningful advice, but never too preachy. For those (like me) who didn't realize how far they were going down the wrong road, this is a map on how to get on the path to balance in life. Highly recommended, and a very easy read.

Life Is Short-Wear Your Party Pants...
I felt this book was an easy to read, motivating simple reminder that being to serious in life is pointless. But LaRoche's humorous approach is what is really unique and very refreshing.

I really needed this book
Several months of being WAY stressed out and I decided to take a little stoll in the self help section to come across this book. I read it in only a few days (put it down/picked it up). It made me laugh out loud a few times. I'm now searching for more things from this author (I never knew she was out there). Several other women in my life are in bad relationships...this book made me think...what the heck are you doing in an unhappy situation? Life IS short. Why do we waste our time stressing ourselves out instead of enjoying life? And the mention of getting angry over being caught in traffic, etc...that was me. She makes you want to sit back, relax, and enjoy the little things around you that you never notice because you are in too big of a rush.

Tedious and Inconsistent
I didn't find this audio book to be very informative. The anecdotes were out of place and long, and her suggestions were too vague with no recommendations on how to follow them. How do you live as if your glass if full? Who knows? Also, her voice gave me a headache.

Terrific reading while traveling through crowded airports
I read this book while flying to Florida at Thanksgiving! One of the absolutely worst times to fly due to crowded airports and oversold flights! It kept me laughing throughout - but also kept me relaxed during what normally would have been a tremendously stressful day. I arrived at my destination relaxed, refreshed and with a terrifically positive outlook! Thanks, Loretta!

WOW -- Hillarious
I never thought to use humor to reduce my stress, especially at work. Her stories of her family and personal events helped me to see all of the funny things that really stressed me out that would fall into the category of "the little stuff." I really enjoyed the anticdotes as well. There was a drawback, there are a few things that she doesn't discuss in detial therefore making it hard to try them, but over all this is a very good book for all of you who are stressed to the max.
