living with albinism
I really enjoyed reading this book. I found it to be very informative.I have a son that is albino and I now see that there are many other albinos and what they experience.I also enjoyed reading about some of the genetics of albinism.I was also pleased to see my uncle in the book. Albinism runs heavily in my family. The research that was done to make this book was phenomenal.I especially liked that this book is designed for children to help them get a better understanding of albinos and may teach them more sensitivity.
my son` understanding of his own albinism
I bought this book to help my son Cameron and myself learn and deal with his albinism. The book has alot of wonderful pictures of people that look just like him. The layout was very simple so I could understand it and then relay it back to my son. The parts we both liked best were the different stories about albino`s.They were treasured by many different cultures. The american indians especially worshiped someone with very light color. To them it was a sign of good luck from their god. All different races also can have albinism of varing severeness. I would recommend this book to anyone who wanted to understand what people like my son go through everyday.I am so glad that I have had the oppertunity to relay my story to someone who cares.

Apatosaurus (True Book)
My 3 1/2 year old borrowed 4 of these True Books by Elaine Landau on dinosaurs from our local library. He loved them so much that he's been sleeping with them and carrying them everywhere. The pictures are captivating and realistic. The text is very understandable for a young reader. It teaches them the basics of what dinosaurs are, what makes this dinosaur unique, how the scientists learned about them, what made the dinosaurs extinct, and how humans compare on the timeline.

A colorful look at Canada
"Canada," by Elaine Landau, combines a straightforward text with lots of full-color photographs. The book is a basic introduction to Canada. Topics covered include the country's history, ethnic diversity, geography, educational system, sports, economy, government, and cultural scene. Some specific issues addressed include the Quebec separtist movement and the 1999 establishment of Nunavut as a self-governing Inuit territory.
The book includes a brief bibiliography, a list of Web sites, a glossary, and an index. The photographs capture some memorable images: the magnificent Chateau Frontenac in Quebec city, a Canadian Indian in colorful feathered attire, the wooded shores of Lake Superior, and more. Overall, an informative and visually striking introduction to this nation.

Superbly presented environmental awareness for young readers
Part of the Enslow Publishers' outstanding "Finding Out About Holidays" series, Elaine Landau's Earth Day: Keeping Our Planet Clean teaches young readers about the history of Earth Day from its first celebration in 1970, and also emphasizes the importance of keeping the planet clean and doing one's part to recycle, plant trees, and conserve water. An excellent educational book ideal for showing the importance of environmental awareness to the next generation, Earth Day is very strongly recommended for school and community library collections, and would prove invaluable for enhancing a homeschooling curriculum nature/ecology studies reading list as well.

Hamaburgers Bad News For Cows
In a world of Mad Cow Disease and the like, it is nice to see a regular simple matter of fact book children can enjoy. I especially enjoyed the little guy on the inside first page and page 16. "Please don't bother me I'm trying to eat" is what I get from that look.

An intriguing examination of modern nuclear issues.
Until recently Americans believed that the nuclear powers had come to grips with nuclear weaponry through agreements which limited their testing and use: tests conducted by India and Pakistan have proved otherwise, and here Elaine Landau explores the new nuclear reality, examining how a new world arms race may be in the making. Grades 5-8 will find this an intriguing examination of modern nuclear issues.
