An Extraordinary Tale told with Extraordinary Humility
I thoroughly recommend this and The Railway Man by Eric Lomax as my favourite WWII accounts. If you are looking for a real WWII epic story of incredible sacrifice told with extreme humility in a matter-of-fact way, then this is the book for you. I actually met Charles Lamb whilst I was a Royal Navy Officer, a fact that I only realised toward the end of the book!
As a young man, Charles Lamb was a Swordfish torpedo bomber pilot. The tough old biplane was capable of carrying so many types of weapons that the naval airmen called it a "Stringbag". Most of the tale takes place before the USA's entry into the war, but this should not put American readers off, quite the contrary since Lamb's revelations of how the Americans helped Britain in its hour of need would bring a lump to your throat. I have read books about Far East prisoners of war but I had not realised the barbaric conditions suffered by British and Commonwealth airmen in North Africa at the hands of the Vichy French. The way that this was swept under the carpet as the Allies advanced towards Germany so as to keep the French on side, was a revelation to me. This book has so many gems of untold glory that military history buffs should find interesting. Lamb gets sunk, crashed, into espionage, talked to by the King, instruction from Churchill, locked up, you name it! And it's a true story! The flying too will send your hair on end. A remarkable man, from a remarkable generation telling an extraordinary tale.

A Great Way to Introduce Shakespeare
Although this book is out-of-print, taking the trouble to find it will be worth it. Charles Lamb gives concise summaries of the plots of three Shakespearean plays: Romeo & Juliet, The Tempest, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. There are a few big words, so it is best to read this book along with children, but the stories are short and exciting enough to hold attention. In addition, the illustrations by Judy Mastrangelo are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. Shakespeare himself would have been proud.

Excellent
An excellent book that introduces us to Marketing concepts with the help of various real-life examples. I didn't feel like I was reading a textbook for my class at all. Rather, I felt like I was reading an interesting magazine. I would definately recommend this book. It is awesome!

Very useful for school
I am using it for my thesis on the Music Industry and I find it helpful. 4 P's are so well explained.

A very nice improvement on the 4th Edition
This comprehensive revision of the last edition shows real improvements. Two new chapters are included on Competitive Intelligence and One-to-One Marketing. Both are welcome additions. The Internet chapter is on-line since it would be futile to try and publish on paper about a subject that changes daily. There are severeal references to internet subjects and even some of these do not exist anymore. The books design has been modernized and the cases and real-world stories are very up-to-date. I use this text to teach a Marketing Certificate program at UCSB Extension to International students and they find it very understandable and stimulating.

A nice read for children
As a younger person in the nineties, I dipped into the plays of Shakespeare, and this book let me get into the classic stuff. It was interesting, put into kids' stories so as not to intimidate the younger enthusiast, and altogether, it was a good book. I suppose you have to be in to Shakespeare to enjoy it wholly though....

A gentle, relaxing dip into Shakespeare. I'll give two stars.

The Lambs book not as appealing to today's children
Charles and Mary Lamb's classic book on Shakespeare retains too much of the archaic language of the actual works to interest grade school children. While the work might appeal to upper grades and high school students anxious to find an alternative to reading the actual plays, as an introduction to Shakespeare for young children, the book is a failure. It compares unfavorably with Ian Serralier's out-of-print classic THE TEMPEST AND OTHER TALES: STORIES FROM SHAKESPEARE, which uses modern language and glowing imagery to effectively communicate the universal appeal of Shakespeare to the very young. I can testify to this since it was Serralier's book, read in the third grade, that first interested me in the Bard. I stumbled upon Lamb's book later. If I had found Lamb's book first, I would have concluded that Shakespeare was something dry and dull for grownups, and it would have been forced down my throat in the upper grades. As things turned out, I have a lifelong love of the Bard thanks to Serralier's book. A publisher with any sense would reprint it

An excellent introduction to the plays
I read this book as a child; my mother gave it to me and my brother before we went to see the plays. It was an excellent introduction to the plays and to the world of Shakespeare, and helped me understand what I was watching. I also enjoyed reading the stories themselves, and familiarized myself with Shakespeare this way. It made a huge difference, as became quite clear to me when we read Henry IV in ninth grade in school, a play for which I had no Lamb version. I didn't understand that play and took no pleasure in it, whereas I did enjoy much harder plays (e.g., Othello, A Winter's Tale, etc.) that I had the Lambs' help with. Depending on reading level, the Lambs' book would be appropriate for anyone from seven or eight to 13 or 14 years old.

NICE BOOK; VERY UNREASONABLE PRICE
Designed for Secondary/High school students, this "Tales from Shakespear" (by Charles Lamb) did a good job in simplifying all the Shakespearean works it covered. It is a double-volume book, which rendered a comprehensive novelettish pathway to the otherwise drama oriented Shakespeare ding. All those 17th Century dialogue structures were gone: replaced with a series of sweet-flowing prose. Everything about this collection would have been complaint-free, except that the publisher of the work was very unreasonable with its price. Very, very unreasonable!

A Simple Read for Any Shakespear Lover
As a long time fan of Shakespear, I picked up these books out of curiosity. I was delighted to find that although geared toward young readers, Lamb found a way to bring Shakespear's stories to life while eliminating the old English that can make reading one of his plays an often daunting task. I believe these books to be the ideal companion for a reader just starting to discover Shakespear, for besides being one of the most eloquent writers to ever live, William Shakespear was first and foremost a magnificent story teller. I'd recommend these books for both Shakespear amatuers and experts alike, for they are a simple, enjoyable read.
