Feng Shui at Work
Kirsten M. Langtree tells you how to arrange your work space for maximum peak performance and maximum profit. If you work in an office this is a must read, even if you are not a believer in Feng Shui. The author describes several typical work environments and how to make them more comfortable. If you are not familiar with Feng Shui (it's acupuncture or acupressure for physical spaces), Kirsten gives the reader a brief overview of the history and basic principals of this ancient Buddhist practice to start. She then goes into more details and mentions the two systems she uses. Apparently, there are several Feng Shui schools divided into the compass schools and Black sect schools. Kirsten uses a bit of both and I found this confusing. In fact, I find the compass issue a bit confusing and used the information from the Black sect perspective (stand at the doorway, look in placing the Ba-Gua's North side on the wall of the door). If you have not had any previous exposure to Feng Shui, you may not understand when she is switching back and forth between the two schools the book needs a clearer explanation on this.

Aside from these points, there is a lot of good information about office seating and arrangements that anyone could benefit from. I repositioned my desk after reading her section titled Desk for Success and found an immediate difference in my productivity. Her case studies were helpful and inspiring. Just reading this book gave me another perspective on space. I have visited a lot of clients in corporate offices and have found so many things about the cubicle environment disturbing. But Kirsten goes through a step-by-step process of offering tips to make these environments more humanizing. Some of her solutions to work space are intuitive yet reading this book you will be able to focus on details that you may miss.

Lastly, she gives her Feng Shui corrections for some famous persons' (read the book to find out) offices and why she makes the changes. The expereinced intuitive can learn something from this book as well as the novice. I you are wondering if this stuff works, it does!

Think I'll Give it a Try
I'm a skeptic but the way the author talks about feng shui makes me want to try it. She makes sense and gives explanations about how feng shui works that aren't so far out. I will try a couple of her suggestions because they are simple and I figure I don't have anything to lose.

Surprisingly Helpful
I didnt know anything about feng shui until I read about it in the New York Times this week--and Lagatree's book was mentioned. No matter if you believe this stuff or not, this book is clearly and simply written. I'm sure there is more to feng shui than this--I'll check out her other book next. But I think she is onto something: some workplaces ARE more energized than others. There are offices that seem more conducive to getting things done. Feng shui makes sense to me--and by employing some of her suggestions I'm going to try it in my office and see if I can get better chi!

Good for those with little imagination
If you have even a little imagination, this book is not for you. For example, tip 49 says "For a richly provocative kiss, nibble a top or bottom lip and suck delicately on upper and lower lips." Let me ask you? Is this a secret? Do people really not know this?

Between my husband and I, we found a maximum of 5 to 10 of the 242 "tips" useful. I was hoping to learn more than that.

Your Cruise Ship Companion
I enjoyed reading this on my recent cruise. It is a conversation starter if that's what you want. Or, a primer for romantic cruise intimacy.

I advocate both.

This well written little compendium gives more good ideas than other stuff on the subject I've read. It's HOT as you want.

Amazed at the Great Advice
I'm amazed at the amount of great advice packed into this fun, easy-to-read and digest volume. Sizzling Sex would make a great gift for your loved one, for any bride or groom - or anyone interested in enlightening themselves, for their own sake or their partner's. Lagatree helps open the door to a more satisfying life by helping you open your mind to so many possibilities. Sizzling Sex is a book which should be on every healthy person's book shelf.

A Clever and Extremely Useful Book
Checklists for Life should be on everyone's shelf. I have bought several copies of the book for members of my family. I found it witty and extremely useful. The author clearly knows her subjects -- and an amazing array of subjects they are. This book will always be on my shelf as a reference guide and an amusing read. I'm making sure it's on my niece's shelf as well, as she's going off to college next year and will need the advice on household chores, and important legal, medical, and financial managment matters. All of the important subjects in life are included. The book provided a wealth of useful, original and always practical information.

Handy, Helpful, Essential
Like most guys I am not a list person. And I figured I knew how to do a lot. But this book filled in a lot of the gaps--the list on traffic court preparation was MOST helpful.Yeah, my kitchen is all set up--don't need that list. But Lagatree even helps you prepare for something truly unusual--a death in the home. Would you know what to do? I didn't until I read this book. List after list, I found lots of useful stuff here. It now sits next to my dictionary and phone books--all essentials for daily life.

Great Reference Book
I found this book to be full of useful information, presented in an accessable, fun format. The author refrains from giving the reader too much information, thereby increasing the reader's confusion or feelings of ignorance. Many of the lists deal with topics that not everyone has experience with or knows where to go to get the needed information. This book is the perfectl resource to have on hand whenever you're faced with a new experience or something you have to deal with infrequently. It makes an especially welcome gift for someone graduating from high school or college, or for someone getting married or moving out on his/her own for the first time.

Feng Shui for beginners
This book is another book that I read in an effort to get information about Feng Shui. It goes into details and gives quite a bit of information about the history of Feng Shui. It's a good book for a beginner, someone with limited exposure to Feng Shui, who wants to get an idea of what it is. It also offers some practical ideas on where to start to make your life less cluttered, more serene.

The illustrations are well done and easy to understand. Ms. Lagatree obviously researched her subject and knows quite a bit about the subject. She includes all parts of your home, not just focussing on one room/place. She explains the "Ba-Gua basics" in a way that is informative and yet easy to understand. From the beginning, with the history of Feng Shui, to the ending, when she describes garden Feng Shui basics, Ms. Lagatree has done an excellent job of conveying to the reader the ideas behind it.

This is a well written book that is meant to inform and be 'user friendly.'

Change Your Life; Practice Feng Shui
In the foreward of this book, Feng Shui is defined and described. There are 8 chapters. The photos included are sketches and are black and white. Some Feng Shui books are quite complicated but this book, however, is rather easy to understand. I would have enjoyed this book more if there had been more sketches demonstrating Feng Shui in the rooms of a house. As it is, you stand wondering if your arrangement of furniture is in accordance to Feng Shui.

A Good Start, But Too Basic
This book contains a great and concise history of Feng Shui, but is written so that it gets kind of confusing as not enough detail is given to remedy situations. For example, I still don't understand this "Pointed Arrow" thing, because wherever I look, I see jutting corners. However, it's an excellent book for beginners like me because of it's broad overview and interesting history.
