The Lost World should have stayed lost
This novel didn't appeal to me as much as the first Jurassic Park.Micheal Crihton should have left Ian Malcolm out of this story because any person who had suffered a life threatening experience like he had to face, would never go back to a similar place to Jurassic Park . The first novel had a plot which connected to everything in the story. This Novel was basically go to the Island, run from Dinosaurs, then escape from the Island. In the begining of the book Dinosaurs were being washed up on beaches in Costa Rica. The only reason they were going to go to the island was to see what was driving these creatures into the ocean. It never came out with why the dinosaurs were swimming from the island. There was some good action throughout the book . I was disappointed with this novel and that is why I only gave it 3 Stars.

Exciting Book; Keeps You Glued To Your Seat
The Lost World is even more exciting than Jurrasic Park. It has lots of twists and turns that should make you lose track of time and miss class. The main thing that made the book exciting is that it has missing links to the first book in the sequel.

I recomend this to anybody that likes blood and horrer.

Peter David RULES!
For comic book nerds like me (or for literate Trekkies) then the name Peter David puts an instant smile on your face. I've only read one Peter David Star Trek novel, but it was the most entertaining Star Trek story I had ever read. His run on the Incredible Hulk was the best ever written. But I digress.

Die hards who even have interest in this novel already know the story behind Spider-man. So are there any real spoilers? Not really. We all know about his relationship with Uncle Ben and Aunt (ug) May. We all know about his pining for Mary Jane Watson (sorry, no Gwen Stacy this time around). We all know about Norman Osbourne and son Harry and their developement into Green Goblins.

What might not be translated on screen is the motivations and the incredibly well-written and fleshed out thoughts provided by the clever Mr. Peter David in this novel. I found myself once again thoroughly entertained by this man's writing style. Unless Sam Raimi is a genius (okay, so he's close) he won't be able to fully communicate the "radioactive" spider's motivation behind wanting to bite Peter as Mr. David does so well in the novel. Peter David knows comics and Spider-man so well that this movie will most definitely be more entertaining after reading the novel.

After reading this novel, I believe that you'll feel like a well-educated art lover who will get to go to the Louvre for his first time this May. You'll know the ins and outs and thoughts behind scenes...but seeing the real thing will be just that, "the real thing".

There's nothing to spoil essentially although there are a few "surprises". But one real surprise I believe will be seeing if the acting abilities of Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, Willem Dafoe, and company can portray these characters faithfully as I've made them out to be in my head over all these years. Sam Raimi's action sequences will be the true star and the films greatest surprise.

Fear not, reading this novel before seeing the movie should not spoil more than you will gain. It's a great read and it'll just get you prepared for appreciating this movie as it should be viewed. I bought the book today and finished it tonight, and darn it all, I wish that opening day were tomorrow.

Better than the movie....and I loved the movie
You read the intro line correctly. This book is so much better than the movie, and the movie is awesome! What makes this book so good is that we get into the head of the characters. We get to know what they are thinking and feeling. This book also has "extra" scenes that add so much to this book. For example, in the movie, MJ doesn't get an acting job. Well, in the book you find out why she doesn't get it. I also liked how Peter wrote t his parents in his journals. The reader will also get to know Peter as a child, and find out what happened to Peter's parents.

If you're a fan of Peter David, then you have to get this book. His style of writing lets the characters come to life and we care about all of them, even they bad guys.

If you liked the movie, then you need to read this book. It adds to much to the Spiderman experience. If you start it, you won't be sorry.

Read it in less then 3 days
For my most recent birthday (wont dismiss age for privacy reasons, thankyou), I got the Spider-Man novelized version. Now, I had just seen Spider-Man...I was kinda late, mind you. I waited 'til late June to see it, but when I saw it, I loved it! I must have drove my entire family crazy...I even resaw it on my birthday.

Anyway, Peter David did an amazing job. I know that my intense inspiration to read the book so quickly was not only because of the fact that I loved everything about the movie, but because his writing delved me in. I especially loved the scene when Peter Parker was a child, and he thought Uncle Ben made "perverted rice." Such charm...and very funny, too, considering my dad mentioned "He wont be making rice anymore" the second time I dragged him to it.

Peter David, it was a pleasure, and I'm truly glad I got to read it...I only wish more of these scenes in the book were mentioned in the movie.

Thanks, Anna

best book ever.
watch the movie its a lot easier and no brain power is needed

Now the movie makes sense!
This is amazingly well crafted for a movie novelization. Explains all the background details that the movie skips over...reading the book made the movie comprehensible. Best novelization I've ever read.

Good morning, Mr. Hunt!
I loved this book. I would strongly recommend it to anyone. I thought that all of the personal info on Ethan really helps you get to know him. This book is a page-turner and a must-read!

save reading energy
This book, while having little to do with the book, "Jurrassic Park" reasonably documents the events of the film. While the prose is often clunky, it does its job as a piece of merchandising for a huge movie. It is entertaining, and makes the reader long to own more things, such as the REAL book.

A very interesting book to read!
I just finished this book and I'm really impressed on how the plot of the story turns. Just imagine that instead of feeling safe in the panic room, Meg and her daughter felt horror and fear altogether. It's a really good book and I can't wait to see the movie. I hope all novels are like this exciting and interesting at the same time.

the panic room
Hi I love to tell people about the Panic Room. The auther is James Ellison. The approximant amount of pages is 241.The genre is an action/mystery.The setting is in New York City. What happen is it's about a women named Meg and her ten year old daughter Sarah. They buy a four story house from a millionaire. They get it for less when what it's really worth. But it has a room inside it called the Panic Room.It a security system. It makes Meg nevous. Now three men break into her house and Meg and Sarah are forced ot stay into the Panic Room. The three main reasons why i love this book is because it has suspense. Its a thriller and Meg s daughter is the same name as mine.I would advise this book for fifth graders .So the people who like action mystery and suspence books will love book like i did.

Best Adaption from a Movie
I LOVE THIS BOOK! It's about a mother and daughter who move from thier small town in Conneticut to the much bigger city of New York. When they finally find a house, they also stumble upon a room. The Panic Room. When three burgalars break in Meg and Sarah are forced to hide in this safe room only to find out that the burgalars are looking for what's inside the room.

i think it was very bad
i think this book was really bad because it had none of the good stuff of the real book by Micheal Chrigton . So in conclusion i only gave this book one star because it was the lowest .

This book is alright because you're invoved with the story.
This book is based on the movie "The Lost World." The book lets the reader make different choices throughout the book. I think this book is alright, because you are involved with the story but it can be a little confusing, but I thought the book was alright.

Strange carcasses washes upon shore of deserted island.
I really enjoyed reading this book. The details kept the book flowing easily and kept my interset. The way he wrote the book really made it hard to put it down. There was a lot of action and suspense in the novel that added to the feel of the book. I would say that the book is really close to another of the authors novels Jurassic Park. It was really similar but I would have to say that Jurassic Park was alittle better.
