This Trek Fan Loved It
I loved this book. Whenever I'm in need of a laugh I still return to it. Every blooper, every continuity problem and and every single episode is discussed in this very funny guide. The author was obviously a huge fan of Star Trek.

Surprise! A reference book that is actually humorous.
Phil Farrand does a wonderful job here of pointing out things the creators of Trek got wrong (and right!)--small things most of us would never give a second thought to. My favorite glitch:

"Return of the Archons--Just after Festival begins, Kirk & the others scamper for cover. In one shot, a rock about the size of a cantaloupe arches down and whacks a crew member on the top of his head. Surprisingly, the man seems unaffected, and the rock simply bounces off. Now that's the kind of guy you want to take on landing party missions!"

I couldn't stop laughing for about five straight minutes after I read this one. If you like Star Trek, and you like to laugh--get Phil Farrand's Nitpicker's Guides for Trekkers. You will not be disappointed.

CITY ON THE EDGE OE FOREVER
Kirk and spock are sweeping the floor when spocks notices a man using small tools, the sceen cuts and shows the man's hand picking a a sharp looking tool, then the sceen changes back to Kirk and Spock some words are passed then sceen shows the man's hand again doing the same motion.

Great book
I haven't even seen ST: TMP, but I still enjoyed this book. Walter is a great writer. Buy this book and you won't regret it!

Great "Star Trek" memories
What a treat to be able to read the republication of Walter Koenig's journal of the making of "Star Trek: The Motion Picture." Koenig gives a light-hearted and detailed look at the behind-the-scenes action of the film, including his fascination with Persis Khambatta's bald head and his quest for Chekov's one great close-up. :-) Any fan of the original series is sure to enjoy this book; you'll feel like you're right on the set!

One of the better Trek autobiographies
Perhaps because it's one of the last autobiographies by a star of the original Star Trek, this is also one of the best. Koenig has obviously spent a lot of time over the years thinking about decisions and mistakes he's made, but he seems more intent on learning from the past than on dwelling bitterly on it. The first half of the book, about the years before Trek, is more compelling than a Trek fan might expect, because of its depiction of such things as communist paranoia and the desperation of the young actor. The chapters about the Star Trek years add a few new tidbits of information, and offer a more nuanced view of William Shatner than might be expected. The one disappointment? It could have been longer. I would especially have liked more about Babylon 5. And more about Koenig's work with Roddenberry on the unpublished God Thing novel....

Koenig's insights are well worth warping into.
Walter Koenig is an interesting fellow, as witnessed by his latest book, "Warped Factors." Instead of another retelling of the myths and magic surrounding the Star Trek phenomenon, we finally get to meet the man behind the character of Chekov. No Hollywood posturing here, folks; we see all the insecurities of this actor/writer, in an entertaining blend of humor, insight and candor. Best of all, we get a sense of exactly who Walter Koenig is -- mischeivious younger brother, product of uncertain times, a respectable talent forging ahead to transcend Star Trek, looking even farther into the future with "Babylon 5" and other endeavors. This is a voyage you will very much want to take, with a man who is so much more than merely another pop icon. I greatly enjoyed hearing what Walter Koenig had to say about his life, his career and his future. I'll bet that once you crack the back on "Warped Factors," you'll be hooked, too.

Excellent book
Easily one of the best books by a television celebrity. Amusing and candid, it shows how life in Hollywood really is, how Walter Koenig coped with a difficult childhood and early days in Hollywood and how he feels about his fellow Star Trek stars. Highly recommended!
