What MBA Students Say About the Book
This book provides an excellent framework for discussion on economic policy. It presents a stark realization of overall economic impact to people who are traditional profiteers. For those who only see "the two silver dollars", this book provides a starting point for a bigger picture view.

What MBA Students Say About the Book
I found the book interesting and especially found the study of entrepreneurism as an ideology unique and interesting. During review, I found opinions and topics that could introduce more discussion into the study of entrepreneurship. Two areas that I saw particularly intriguing are: 1) defining approaches to business as traditional or entrepreneurial, and 2) the introduction of law into defining entrepreneurship. These two topics bring further questions and consequently greater discussion. -- Chris Barker

great collection of statistical genetic techniques
This book is great because it covers all the bases in statistical genetics and features authors who are some of the founders in the field. My favorite chapter is on the Newton Morton number - mine is 2 :) Definitely a good read for anyone interested in a growing field.

Collection of Genetic Epidemiological Developments
There has been a lot of development of novel statistical methods in the last decade which has resulted in a better understanding of genetic disorders. There are not many existing books on the subject. This volume is a collection of excellent papers written by some of the renowned experts in the field. The papers range from the basic concepts in genetic epidemiology to applications of some of the most recently developed statistical techniques like CART . The precautions that one needs to take while analyzing genetic data have also been addressed in details. The final chapter by Newton Morton is a treat to read and provides a great overview of the future directions in the field. Overall the book will be very helpful to all genetic epidemiologists in their research.

Nature on View
When friends tell me they are building a new home with Asian themes, I buy them this book! I receive enthusiastic thank you notes from everyone. Two friends bought copies for their designers and contractors. This should tell you something about this great book!

SPECTACULAR! Wonderful pics of Japanese architecture/decor
This book strikes the perfect balance between pictures and descriptions, as well as varying geographical locations. The pictures are sumptuous. There are pictures on nearly every page. I wished I could step into the book and live in the homes pictured.

Photosynthesis
Published in Hardcover by Cambridge University Press (1994)
Authors: D. O. Hall and K. K. Rao
Amazon base price: $15.95
Average review score:

A superb dissertation on all aspects of Photosynthesis.
This book presents all aspects of photysynthesis in a fairly detailed manner. The material here covers everything form mitochondrial structure to phytochromes. There is just enough information here to keep the material brisk yet cogent. There are numerous charts and good quality illustrations. The electron transport cycle and phosphorylation sections deserve special mention for their beauty and usefulness. The 'Research in Photosynthesis' chapter is very good, except that I have the fifth edition (1994),and my guess is the material may be quite dated. I highly recommend this book for an under-graduate course in photosynthesis. If you wish to know what photosynthesis is and the why and how of an important biological function buy this book. Over and above being a very good biology book the discourse is presented in a elegant manner.

A very nice book
This is a nice book. Small but complete. A pleasure to read. I suggest it for anyone that want know enough on the photosynthesis. The tables on the potentials are very useful. Some nice plates are included and a lot of historical notes too. Also, there are many illustrations that make the book valuable. A complete "Further reading" close the book. I now begin the fifth reading of the book just for enjoy myself.

His monumental contributions have covered every aspect of both theoretical and applied statistics, especially multivariate analysis and sample surveys. His biography is very well written and deserves wide readership. I hope it will be expanded into a more comprehensive and larger biography soon.

Well presented , well orginized and broad coverage
Dr. Rao's approach to the Wavelet Transform takes a less traditional method to the study of this complex field. His text starts with a firm development of the fundamentals. This provides a secure foundation for the intermediate level topics to follow. He ends the book with some complex developments and new directions taken by the transform. His approach is mathematical but never looses sight of the practicality of the transform. Applications and examples are peppered throughout the text to provide the reader with reinforcing tools. Relevant exercises and projects are also provided along with Matlab routines to perform most of the topics discussed. A great text and a valuable reference. Attention is paid to the development of Filter Banks and the relationship to the Wavelet Transform. A background in Digital Filtering is recommended to any reader. Wavelet Packets are discussed along with topics in Image Compression, Denoising, Edge and Object Detection and general Wavelet Filter Design.

First easy to read book on Wavelets
This book has been written in an easy to read and understand fashion without compromising on the fundamentals. If you wonder what wavelets can do, or what they are, start with this book. Highly recommended for anyone who is starting to learn about wavelets.

Support materials are minimal
...Support for this text runs from minimal to nonexistent. There is NO data disk. The instructor's manual for this text is only 90 pages long, and half of that is syllabi for courses taught by Rao and Steckel, which you probably will not find helpful. Do NOT adopt this book as the main text for a class.

Analysis of Customer Satisfaction Data
Published in Hardcover by American Society for Quality (2000)
Authors: Derek R. Allen and Tanniru R. Rao
Amazon base price: $55.00
Average review score:

Fast-paced, focused and fluff-free
This book is for advanced practitioners in marketing, contact center/customer care and other business and technical domains that need to gather and quantitatively analyze customer satisfaction data. The focus is customer satisfaction for services more than products, but it can be used effectively in either scenario.

The introduction covers prior work in the field and lays the groundwork for subsequent chapters that cover instrumentation, data preparation, an analysis framework and models.

The key strengths of this book are the framework, which is highly structured, the models and exploratory data analysis. I liked the discussion of regression analysis problems, and the chapters on causal modeling and interdependency models. I also liked the fact that this book is short, crammed with information and techniques, and does not lose its focus. You will need to brush up on your math skills because while this book reads well and is fast-paced, it is also detailed and is heavy with quantitative methods. If I had to recommend one book on customer satisfaction data analysis this is it.

More Than Baseball
Seldom do I find a book that brings a true sense of well-being. Seven Lives, Seven Games is more than a novel about baseball. Although that is the backdrop, Seven Lives, Seven Games is about hope, charity, love, and people giving their all in the the Big Game of Life. It is truly a book we all need to read.

A novel for those who love the game of baseball
In this novel "Seven Lives Seven Games" you are put into the predicament of the country going apathetic to the American pastime of Baseball, being brought on by a strike in the disagreement in pay between players and owners. In my opinion this is a very realistically written novel which depicts real-life decisions in whether to try to get the country back into baseball by arranging a breathtaking championship, or letting baseball be itself and possibly end. This is a must-read story for any sports fan.

Heartwarming, touching book
Let me start off by saying I am not a baseball fan but I loved this book. Every character touched me in some way or another and once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. (I read it in one night). In fact, I loved it so much I just ordered two more copies for my father and uncle as Christmas gifts. I could have lent them mine, but I want them to have their own.
Again, you don't have to be a baseball fan to enjoy this book, but since they are both huge baseball fans I know they'll enjoy it even more.
