MUST READ
This book is a MUST READ for any father considering, or going through, a divorce. It is honest, practical, and PACKED with helpful suggestions for the process.

New approach to a sensitive issue!
The possibility of divorce is always on the minds of married couples as well as the state of the relationship between the parents and children. Knox discusses the before, during, and after of the divorce process and how it especially affects the father-child relationship. Can a father do too much? not enough? what if the mother is uncooperative? Knox does a splendid job on this book filled with solid information for the straight or gay dad, the children, and the new partner.

Author vs. Book
Personally, I feel that if you're going to write a book about how to make relationships last, manners should come into account as well. Although the book was clean and a fast read, I thought David Knox was very impolite. I e-mailed him to tell him how much I enjoyed the book and asked a couple questions. He e-mailed me back with answers, asked what class I was in, but never said "Thank you". If that isn't irony, what is? I will never read another book by this author again just because of that--impressions count for a lot and his didn't settle with me at all. If it's for a class, I'll fight it.

Useful Guide to Choices in Relationships - 6th edition
This Student Study Guide is an essential tool for students aspiring to secure a good grade. Each chapter has a summary that highlights the essential terms of that learning block. Next students are quizzed on the major concepts and terms of that chapter. Finally, they are tested with multiple choice questions. The latter two testing tools reinforces the learning from the main text - Choices in Relationships - An Introduction to Marriage and the Family - David Knox & Caroline Schact - 6th edition; and saves valuable time in keeping students focussed on the important points to be learned from each chapter. The advantage of the student guide is that many of the evaluation questions find themselves in the assessment that is done by the instructor. This book is a "must" for a good grade.

The Earthquake America Forgot: Two Thousand Tremblers in Five Months and It Will Happen Again (Earthquake Series: No 3)
Published in Hardcover by Gutenberg Richter Pubns (1995)
Authors: David Stewart, Ray Knox, and Don Greenwood
Amazon base price: $29.95
Used price: $17.00

A book everyone in the central U.S. should read.
Gives a chilling account of the most powerful series of earthquakes to rattle North America and warns they will come again. Told in the context of how the temblors effected contemporay people, places and events, but also offers an excellent historical perspective. Contains startling information that more people should know. A text book that reads like a good novel.

A Cornucopia of Circumstances and Consequences
If this book doesn't shake you up, nothing will - except maybe a real earthquake, and it would have to be a strong one at that. Here is a book that has everything. History, adventure, inventions, folk lore, scientific revelations, and earthquakes of course. All of it told very well.

You would like to know about the largest U. S. earthquake in modern history, of course, or you wouldn't be looking at this review. But would you also like to know of the connection between a Roosevelt and the first river steamer? Would you like to know about the overall relationship and some particular relationships between American Indians and the settlers? Or a lot more about Thomas Jefferson? Would you like to know what life was like on the western frontier near the Mississippi? Or a lot more about the Richter scale? Or probably more about geography than you might know now? And of course more about geology? I could continue this inquiry for much longer. But why should I? Just get the book and read it to take a delightful journey through Americana while learning about earthquakes (as well as what you can do about them).

Great on content, just a little dry
If you're the ultimate policy wonk on 2nd Amendment law, you'll want to read this book just for John Knox's insights into the character of Justice McReynolds who wrote the decision in U.S. v. Miller, 1939. Unfortunately, Knox was no longer clerking for McReynolds in 1939, so we miss the inside story on that landmark decision, but after you've read this book you'll better understand why Miller makes so little sense.

Subsurface Transport and Fate Processes
I've used this book when researching abiotic and biotic processes and for modeling transport and fate processes. Chapter 8 covers the applications of transport and fate information with tracer studies, remedial technologies (i.e., cyclic pumping) movement of LNAPLs into the subsurface. Appendix A presents physical, chemical and fate data for priority pollutants which I have found helpful. Overall this is a good text and is a useful reference.
