a life-changing book
jean klein explains things in a vocabulary that is extremely accessable to the western mind. we are fortunate to live in an age where there are people who have gone and done the work of finding the right words to say it in english. jean klein is helpful in this way, for me, more than anyone else i have read. but outside of nondualism, there is dialogue in this book that is simply blindingly insightful relating to: art, the experience of fear, tension and the body, the use of language, relationship, and some expressions regarding love that are so poetic that you may find they give you tears. so, that's my high opinion of this book!

Essential for leaders and consultants!
This text presents much needed material in the area of applied consulting work based on the psychodynamic or psychoanalytic tradition. I have used chapters from Part I (Organization Theory and Visions of Leadership) in my graduate level OD course, and chapters from Part II (Transformational Leaders: Vulnerability, Diversity, and Connection) extensively in my work with clients, especially female leaders. The chapter by Kathy Kram and Marion McCollom Hampton, "When Women Lead: The Visibility-Vulnerability Spiral," is particularly helpful. These women articulate the dynamics that face women in leadership roles in a way that is understandable and applicable for managers and consultants. Many of my clients resonate strongly with the authors' case material. I highly recommend this book for organizational consultants and leaders.

You feel as tho you ARE Carol experiencing her past lives.
This past life book is different from others. I felt as though I was the medical writer, "Carol," who was experiencing her past lives. I could identify with her doubts, concerns as to whether or not it would "work" and her emotions as she learned more about herself though her past lives. I've read it twice, each time feeling more a part of this experiment. It's a great read regardless if you believe in past lves or not!

No one really knows what goes on in a family
Talk about generational curses, as much as I admired JFK, Jr. no one really knew what went on inside this young man's life and his close friends aren't telling. Caroline's probably the only person alive who could answer everyone's questions. Any time he was seen it was always in public, and never behind closed doors and although every women probably thinks he could have found a better looking woman to marry, (I can't see class or beauty anywhere) what went on in their marriage is really no one's business. John-John struck me as a young man who had trouble finding his own way while trying to live up to too many people's expectations, mom's included. Gorgeous as he may have been, I don't think his mom would have approved of his choice of a wife. I believe the girl had issues whether or not she was a "coke-head" I'm sure John knew. It's sad when you think about a young life with so much potential gone but I truly believe that if Jackie were here, he never would have been flying that plane in the first place....now would he. It really doesn't matter now, the people in question are gone, and anything written about them is speculation anyway, but we must remember that no one is perfect, no matter how badly we would want them to be...For John, I just pray that at some point during your life, you took the time to know the Lord.

JFK Jr: His Life And What Could Have Been
Ed Klein is a Pulitzer winning journalist, and author. He's been associated with the Kennedy family for decades, even covering the 1960 Presidential election. In this book he conducts great research, conducts interviews, and corroborates what he states. Some interesting insights are noted in this book and several living sources are cited. Obviously, we are aware of the fact that the people that are the subjects of this book by Ed Klein are deceased and no longer able to defend themselves nor more accurately depict these stories of what was, what wasn't, and what could have been.

...The media has eaten this up. Interestingly, the last time I checked, the divorce rate in the U.S. is over 1 out of 2 marriages dissolving. So what? Drug use? So what. Infidelity? So what. John Jr. and Carolyn weren't unusual, they were the norm. Young, living in Manhattan, and monied. Does the public expect this young couple to stay home and play scrabble, and read "Reader's Digest?" Not really, because then it wouldn't be a titillating tale to devour.

This book also sheds light on a possible run for New York Governor. Kennedy Jr. was hesitant because, the author claims, that his wife's drug use and their marriage difficulties would have brought forth skeletons in the closet that political campaigns bring about. This book is entitled "The Kennedy Curse," but it's major focus JFK Jr. and his wife, his potential political plans, and some private things that encourage interest among the public. Klein conducted interviews and corroborated several sources. This book is interesting, and it's not "tabloidish."

It is unfortunate that once again a member of this family has lost their life. Their appears to be two camps. Kennedys that die because of being the victim, and Kennedys that die because of risky adventurism. Joe Kennedy was shot down after volunteering for a dangerous mission when he didn't have to, to try to upstage his brother JFK's PT-109 myth of heroics. Another member died after deciding to throw footballs while snow skiing down-hill. Another overs dosed on drugs. A rape charge here, a murder conviction there. A car accident that leaves someone paralyzed--and in poverty. Sadly, JFK Jr. is the latest Kennedy to go. A lesson should be learned: don't fly planes at night if you are not qualified to fly by instruments.

Klein claims with cited sources, that Carolyn Bessette was late for the plane, causing it too fly when it was dangerous to do so because of declining visibility due to the coming darkness. She had her toe-nails painted 3 times so it could match her dress. That is why she held up the plane. John and Carolyn's sister were waiting on her. She answered John's calls to her cell with repeated replies, "I told you I'm getting a pedicure," while they waited at the airport. (Bimbo.)

JFK was an interesting individual, founding "George" magazine which had fascinating articles. Humble, articulate, and having class, no matter what John Jr. would have done in his life, he would have been captivating for the public and successful in his endeavors. We'll never know, such is life.

Dated Material
This book reads like a bad psych textbook from the 60's & 70's; because thats basically what it is. There are some masculine universal truths but you really have to search for them. The case studies & occupations are dated & irrelivent to baby boomers in the 21st century and not very helpful IMHO. Still there are a few pearls and saving graces but you really have to work hard to read this one.

A Life Saver
When I was looking for books along this line, I saw the review titled "This book provides insights that could save your life" and thought that this book might be the one to read. It was. This book can be a life-saver, literally. It certainly made a huge impact for me.

The book may be a bit too much for a person to read unless they like psychology. No, it is not hard reading, it just may be too much material unless you were looking for specific advice. Although you may be tempted to jump to your immediately applicable section, I would suggest reading chapter 2 (on men's different eras) before doing that.

The author has a friendly, mature, informed approach. It is analytical, yet comforting. Certainly a book to recommend for men in your life that are going through changes.

Great book
Great book, great read for everyone. Author discusses the primary phases of adulthood in great detail, and very thought provoking way. Book discusses the life cycle as several distinct phases that we all go through one way or another. Having going through a transition myself, reading "Seasons" is an eye opener. If anything the more you know about your own transition, the better you can deal with it. Also, the phases help in understanding others too. Season's work will no doubt last for many generations to come.

A Casual Read about Jack and Jackie
This is an very readable book about the marriage of one of the most famous US President's and his glamorous wife. The book opens with a short story about Jackie and details her early life very throughly. The book continues on telling how Jack and Jackie met, courted, and their marriage, ending with the death of President Kennedy. The book tells about the birth of the Kennedy's second son, Patrick who only lived a few days, how the Cuban missle crisis helped to define JFK, and JFK's hidden illness. The book is written in very easily understood prose which makes the book pleasurable reading. On that note, I do not think this book would be considered a piece of scholarly work. This is a good book for those looking for an easy read about the John and Jackie Kennedy.

A wonderful tribute to the King and Queen of Camelot
I like to think of myself as a Kennedy expert- I know almost every little detail about the life of this amazing family. Actually, it's become a major fascination over the last few years. I wrote an extensive report on the family and did a great deal of research and came across this book, which I just reread. Again, I was completely mesmerized by this wonderful book by Edward Klein. He was really lucky to have know the family and have such an intimate relationship with these very tortured people. Many seem to forget that they were human like everyone else and had their share of problems and upsets in life. Klein, as a friend of both Jack and Jackie's, makes the story come alive with word for word converstaions from those who were closest to the Kennedy's. I was especially touched by the end of the book where Jack is shot on that fateful day in November of 1963. I cry everytime I read it and think how horrible it must have been for Jackie to not only witness her husband's death, but move on after the tragedy with grace and dignity. I highly recommend this book and if there is anyone who has a similar interest in the Kennedys, please e-mail me. This book is really worth the read.

A great love story
I love biographies, and have read several on the Kennedy's. This is one of my favorites. It gives you a very in depth look at the real relationship between Jack and Jackie, which is, as the title says, "All Too Human". The book, which reads almost like a novel, starts with the first meeting of Jackie and Jack, and carries you all the way through until Jack was assassinated in November of 1963. Edward Klein was a personal friend of Jackie's for a number of years, which made him privy to alot of information. Some points of interest include Jack's affairs and womanizing, Jackie's feelings on being a politician's wife, Joe Kennedy's role in their relationship, how the death of their son, Patrick Bouvier Kennedy, brought Jack and Jackie closer than they'd ever been before, only to have it taken away on that fateful day in Dallas, and Jackie's relationship with her parents. Of course, there is a ton of other information in this book, but these are just a few. After reading this book, I read "Just Jackie: Her Private Years", which is also by Edward Klein. It picks up where "All Too Human" leaves off (shortly after the assassination of JFK). I highly recommend both books to anyone interested in reading about the Kennedys and Jackie O.

Great bio of a very complex person
Mr Klien has done it again. I read Mr. Klein's The Life And Legend of Jay Gould with much anticipation and found it to be very engaging. That is exactly how i felt about his latest endeavor, The Life and Legend of E.H. Harriman. Mr. Klien handles a complex person with much skill and depth. He brings to life a monumental person who was both very complex and yet very human. His use of the social and cultural aspects of the era help to put his subject in context without detracting from the person. Many biographies fail either because the subject is dimmed by the amount of background information on the social and cultural aspects of the era or just the opposite, the subject is not brought to life by too little backgroung of the forces that helped shapped his/her life. Mr. Klein succeeds in reaching a great balance. The book is a great read.

Fleshing out Jackie
I have been a lifelong follower of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and thought I knew a great deal about the facts of her life. But like everyone else I was on a quest to understand what was under the facade. This book didn't bring more insight about the ever elusive "Jackie", but it did provide a fleshed out version of many of the extraordinary circumstances of her incredible life. With so much of the history of her life presented like "visual" soundbites, it was engrossing to read this book's details which to a great extent humanized Jackie to me as never before. The image may have seemed effortless, but the cost of her public persona was more than anyone should have to pay. It is strangely comforting that she was so very human, and such a woman of her time -- at first looking for her purpose through a man, and finally finding her identity and happiness from within. I thought when I was a child at the time of JFK's assassination that I would never have been able to do what Jackie did during the time of his death and funeral. It is reassuring to know that no one, not even Jackie, could possibly behave the way she did without a tidal wave of emotional pain that nearly spanned the remainder of her time on earth.
