Wonderful!
I bought this book for my 17 month old daughter who absolutely loves David Kirk's other books, particularly Little Miss Spider and Miss Spider's Tea Party board book. I had a hard time getting her to let go of the book long enough to read her the story because she was entranced by the illustrations. The coated pages also make this book more durable than other hardcover books. We look forward to upcoming books in this new series

Great for VERY young "readers"
This is the first book I bought for my son, who is now 5 months old. He and I both love it, and I read it to him almost every day. It's just a great little book. I will keep it forever.

Third in the classic series
I'm the archivist for the free Graphics Gems code base on the web. I do it for free, because this code is so valuable. Others think so, too: there is an average of 100 hits a day on the site. Go look at the online list of what's in this volume to see if it's for you.

Highlights (for me) include an IEEE fast square root, uniform random rotations, triangle-cube intersection, and BSP tree ray tracing. There's tons more.

invaluable collection of gems
It's unbelievable that how they can put those dozens of invaluable gems written by graphics programmer from all over the world together into one book. It's a must for every graphics programmer.

Christmas Storyteller
My little niece literally devours the Little Miss Spider series -- and sometimes, no review beats a two year old's reaction. On glossy paper rich with colors and gorgeous illustration, the simple story of Little Miss Spider on yet another adventure hypnotizes my little niece. This book is great for any young child who loves to read and enjoys being read to. Simple word play and rhymes are fun and interesting. The book itself is very small so it can be handled easier with children's hands and additionally, it isn't too long to induce tedium or boredom. All in all, it's a great little stocking stuffer.

Too cute!
I love this spider. The pictures are so bright and the pages sturdy. My favorite part is when she makes snow butterflies. Collect all the books, they are wonderful to read to my 2 year old.

Useful and Fun for Anyone Who Loves Children's Books.
I am an Elementary School Librarian and I LOVE this calendar! It has great illustrations from many well-loved children's books. I also like that it notes the birthdays of authors and illustrators. This calendar is a great resource for librarians and teachers. Also, it's a lot of fun with bright and beautiful illustrations for anyone! The calendar grid is also a nice size with plenty of room to note appointments or whatever.

Another great book from David Kirk
I picked up this book for my almost three year old daughter because I was familiar with David Kirk's wonderful Miss Spider series. I had even bought some of the Spider Books for my daughter even though she is really too young for them yet, just because I loved them so. That is why I was particulary pleased to find Kirk's new Biddle series designed for pre schoolers. In this sweet book a baby bunny gets tired of being squished in the nest with his brothers and sisters so he ventures out to explore the world. Look for cameo appearances by Little Bird Biddle Bird and Miss Spider from Kirk's earlier books. After Bunny has his adventure he decides that home is the best place to be after all. The story really mirrors my own toddlers struggle to find the balance between independence while still needing to have mommy near by. The illustrations are adorable and I really don't mind reading it over and over which is a good thing since I am asked to read it several times a day. I also like the length of the book. It is just the perfect length to keep even an easily distracted toddler engaged. All of the books in the Biddle series are excellent. We also enjoy the new Little Miss Spider books which are also geared to the preschool set. David Kirk is an excellent children's author and you will not be dissapointed with this book.

Another great Biddle Book!
My son got his first Biddle Book (Little Bird, Biddle Bird) when he was 5 months old. Now we eagerly await the release of next book in the series. We bought Little Mouse, Biddle Mouse the first day it came out and we read it at least 4 times a day. He loves it! We've bought the books for his friends and they love them too!

We love Miss Spider!
Miss Spider's Tea Party: The Counting Book, is a favorite of my 10 month old. I have been reading it to her since she was 6 months old. It is by far her favorite among all of her board books. She is captivated by the vivid art work and loves the rhythm of the story. I was so pleased with it that I bought it for my 2 year old niece. It has become her favorite. The board book stands up to wear and tear. I highly recommend this book all the way around!

Positively a work of art to read over and over!!
I purchased this book a year ago for my then 18 month old niece and it is her favorite book. The illustrations are vivid and the characters jump off the pages. At two and a half, she's learned to count as well as identify colors. It is a well worn and loved book. Not only does she love it but I love reading it to her as well. I will continue to gift other toddlers with this gem!!DA Lancaster,Pa

A MUST for your board book collection...Great early learning
My son is only four months old, however, this book, with all of the wonderful illustrations and colors, encourages him to look from side-to-side. He smiles and seems to delight with the flow of words, as well as the illustrations. This is the ONLY book that he looks at with such interest. I hope that the other "Miss Spider" books are converted to the same type of board book soon. I believe that it is never too early to introduce a child to loving character that they may grow with.

a Delightful Tale
This story has made me a fan of David Kirk's work. The story is wonderful and teaches children a valuable lesson in self respect and being different, while showing that everyone is talented at something. You must never give up trying to find what your special talents are. Lil Miss Spider is excited about her first day of school, but when she arrives finds that there are many things that the other bugs can do, that she can't do well at all. At the end of the day she realizes how special she is when she courageously comes to the aid of another bug in trouble. She makes a gallant rescue and finally earns her gold star. "Our gifts, they are many: We hop, fly and crawl. But kindness," he (the principal) said, "Is the finest of all!" A perfect end to a brilliant children's story with unbelievably beautiful, bold illustrations. Your children won't be able to help themselves fall for the rhyming text as the story is brought to life with the pictures. This is a book that I delight in reading over and over again. One warning: The pages are gorgeous , but made on a thick, glossy paper. My daughter, who loves to put EVERYTHING in her mouth, got the nastiest paper cut on her lip. So now when I read it to her I give her a soft toy to keep her hands full. Ive purchased the board books as well, and those I put into heavy rotation. This is still my favorite, but will be better for her when she's a bit older.

Lots of fun for kids--and has a valuable lesson as well
The best word I can think of to describe David Kirk's illustrations is sunshiny. There is a buoyant, inherently happy quality to his work that goes so well with his simple Miss Spider series. Here, Miss Spider is excited to begin her first day at school, but gets more and more disappointed as the day goes on to discover that she isn't good at anything!

As one of her buddies gets stuck in a water spout, however, Miss Spider jumps right in without thinking and helps free the trapped bug. The school principal congratulates her warmly and reminds her that everyone--EVERYONE--has some sort of talent or skill that can be used to make the world a better place.

Lots of fun for little kids, and blessedly fun for parents as well--if only to marvel at the saturated colors and marvelous detail of Kirk's illustrations.

This book is a must-have for every child!
I received this book as a gift for my 4 month old daughter-we love it! The simple rhymes are easy to read and the bright, vivid pictures hold even the youngest child's interest. Little Miss Spider is a character any child can grow up with! I also love the fact that the book is practically indestructible-the pages don't tear or warp.

Excellent story and Beautiful illustrations!
I have loved this book since it first came out. The pictures are beautiful- very detailed and fun to look at. I have never seen such pretty flowers and colors in a children's book. Since reading this book, I am a big fan of Miss Spider and collect Miss Spider toys, books, etc. The story sends a very good message to kids. The story rhymes which makes it fun to read aloud.

I fell in Love with Miss Spider at her tea party!
I happened upon Miss Spider about three years ago at the Denton public library. At the time my daughter was 3, I love the prose, I love the art, I love Miss Spider!

David Kirk does a wonderful job of creating an adorable "mis-fit" Miss Spider is so misunderstood! None of the other bugs want to come to tea. The story breaks your heart then shows how persistance and kindness pay off!

My daughter isn't as thrilled by the books as I am. but then again, I LOVE them. Thank God for people with such great imaginations as the author and illustrator of the Miss Spider series. I recommend Miss Spider to everyone, not just kids, the lessons are profound and the flowing prose style is wonderful. This is my very favorite book to read to children. I am a life long fan of Kirk!

Vividly Gourgeous Illustrations-A Joy to Read!
~ Miss Spider's Tea Party is one of those children's books that brings delight to the adult reader as well as the child.
~ The illustrations are beautiful and vividly intricate, but not too complex for children to enjoy, the story has a very gentle wit, that adults will appreciate.
~ Poor Miss Spider invites all kinds of insects to tea, but for some reason they seem reluctant to befriend her. : - )

~ Happily, her naturally sweet charm wins her popularity in the insect kingdom over, as well as a true fan in the reader. Children really seem to love this simple tale, mostly for the beauty of the illustrations, and the sense of a happy conclusion approaching.

I highly recommend this as a book you can enjoy reading with your child. And I would definitely also recommend the sequel "Miss Spider's Wedding"!
