A gem!
In a world full of hate, violence, and selfishness, this book helps us remember each other in the best of ways. It helped found the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation and is responsible of Random Acts of Kindness week. The publishers at Conari Press have truly created a timeless work of inspiration and beauty. Go out and commit a random act of kindness yourself!

It was inspiring and warm
I listened to this book on tape on my morning walk. I've listened to it many times and it always starts my day off with a positive feeling. It inspired me to do kind things for people - like giving 10 hamburgers to a homeless man with my son. He told his class and many children went out that week and did more kind things so that they could share their kind acts with the class. It had a great ripple effect.

This book has created a revolution in thinking & lifestyle.
Random Acts of Kindness got me thinking more deeply about my actions and how I influence young people. It inspired me to write a children's book, THE KING OF KINDNESS.

fast book to look at your relationship more closely
I bought this book at the end of my last relationship (a little too late) and realised that barring any major problems in the relationship this little book actually emphasizes all the essential things that a person needs to look at concerning relationships. She writes in very small workable sections that get your mind going. For instance she might use two pages for an introduction then 2 for a forward then the four chapters are made up of 2-3 page topics. Every topic for instance one might be on "small ways to show appreciation" These little topics contain in a very simple forward way how to get back the trust and love in a relationship or how to get the blood flowing in it. I suppose if you are already in a healthy relationship or think about being in a healthy relationship I would suggest the book just as much because it gives you the insight to recognise all the healthy ways to look at a relationship... This book isn't preachy or flat intellectualism, it is a good read. If you need help in a relationship this book makes the idea of bring back life in it very barable. Blessed Be

Touching book on love
I recommend this book to anyone in love. It really makes you appreciate and value what you have. It brought tears to my eyes when I realised how much I value the love I have and how special it is.

wonderfull little book
I found the book very easy to read. I think each chapter should be carefully practiced daily by both partners. I am going to share this book with my Mom and my sister because I think they should seriously apply this book to their relationships.

A Revelation
After reading The Men We Never Knew, I have so much more compassion for men and their dilemma in not being able to express their most tender emotions. I've been aware for quite a long while as to how screwed over men are in our society, and now I know there is a way for men to break free of their emotional constraints. Thanks to this beautiful book, I can open my heart and mind to men's emotions. Further, I can love them as they are and accept their fears, anxiety, anger__and know that beneath the hardness there is softness, tenderness, vulnerabiltiy__much more than we women claim to have. Now I can be strong for my man so that he can open up and be "weak" with me. Thank you, Daphne Rose Klingma, for sharing your compassionate insights with us. I recommend this book for every adult woman who truly wants men to express themselves and to connect with them on a profound level.

"I love this book"
Daphne Rose Kingma's book, "The Men We Never Knew: How To Deepen Your Relationship With the Man You Love," is a revalation. This book opened my eyes about men and their emotions and the role that women play in creating and encouraging the fears that men have and the inability of men to relinquish those fears. As I read this book, I saw so many of the men that I have known and I was finally able to understand what they were going through. Reading this book is giving me the opportunity to change my thinking about men and my relationships with men, not only the romantic relationships, but all of my relationships with men. I am going to give this book to all of my female friends.

Enormously helpful in understanding both men and women
This is a powerhouse of a book which addresses very deep issues in understanding both men's and women's hearts and minds. I found myself repeatedly saying Yes! Yes! on page after page, and noting passages I wanted my partner to read. From this book's title and appearance I expected it to be rather shallow pop psychology, a rehash of what I'd heard elsewhere. I was overjoyed to find that I was completely mistaken on that point, and the author's engaging and graceful writing style is icing on the cake. Everyone who wants to understand men and women better will benefit from reading this book.

Simply the best
Lots of books on divorce tell you the hows and whys of a divorce. This is a book for those still considering a divorce. The "Diagnostic" chapter is worth the price alone. It is well written, concise, and clearly articulates the thoughts.

I read it a dozen times prior to my divorce. I also have given it to friends.

A must read for "total clarity" at the most crucial of times
I have given this book to at least 20 friends over the years that were either considering divorce or seperation. . .it was the catalyst to their clarity at a crucial time, which helped each friend to make the "right decision" for themselves.

Make Your Relationship the Best it Can Be
Daphne Rose Kingma has written many wonderful books about love, and this one, titled simply, "LOVE," easily stands out from the rest as a book that can guide you to becoming more loving in your primary relationship. This is the perfect book for couples who feel stuck, and don't know what to do to "bring the magic back," or who would like to learn to navigate through hardships better, or simply learn to relate to one another. Every chapter is short, full of loving compassion, and incredibly thought-provoking.

The six sections in this book are a little like layers on an onion; they start with the basics of learning to love yourself, say loving words, and listen to your beloved -- and then they move into more intimate places of sharing fears, fighting a good fight, and trusting one another -- and then into the really deep layers of finding meaning and enhancing intimacy. Kingma's writing voice sounds to me a lot like a friendly spiritual guide -- someone who clearly has been through everything she writes about, and offers excellent advice.

This book is ideal for anyone who wishes to work on relating through love and connecting more fully to their loved one -- and it is the kind of book to share and discuss with your beloved as you work together to make your relationship the best it can possibly be.

Breaking Up Without Falling Apart.
I have listened to this collection several times. The author is a well known therapist with a lot of successful experience counseling people through difficult, painful breakups. Her compassion seems genuine and palpable. Her insight is interesting and refreshing. Basically, she argues that breakups occur when one or both partners are "finished" meeting objectives that could only be met through the relationship that is ending, but that once met, we need to pursue different relationships suitable for helping us meet new objectives. While it is possible, she explains, for many of us to eventually link with others who change at approximately the same rate and in the same manner as ourselves, it is often the case that partners are suitable for one another in the short run, but not in the long. She explains this in a nonblaming, helpful, positive manner and uses many interesting, credible examples. She also provides helpful advice on how to get through a breakup. I have read many papers and chapters on relationship dissolution (breakups) and find this author's treatment to be particularly helpful. No one source, of course, can answer all questions about all matters important to this or that human experience. Thus, I do not recommend this selection as flawless. However, if you are interested in listening to a helpful, encouraging, informative, useful collection of tapes on breakups, then this is a very worthwhile purchase. Moreover, it helps that the speaker's voice is crisp, clear, and attractive.

Learning to Navigate the Path to Love
If you haven't yet discovered Daphne Rose Kingma, you are in for a treat. In "Finding True Love," Kingma shares wisdom gleaned from her 25 year career as a therapist, providing encouragement and inspiration for even the most lovelorn among us.

Kingma shows that there is a "path to love," and that you are already on it. When you open yourself with a sense of faith and know that love awaits you, and make yourself available for love... you have begun your journey. Your next step is to set your intention for love, which means you will need to know who you really are, discover why love has apparently eluded you so far, and develop your capacity for love. Once you've set your intentions, you need to restore a sense of trust in love. This trust involves being realistic about what love actually is at the same time that you recognize the higher (spiritual) purpose of relationships, and appreciate the wisdom of spirit in creating relationships for you. Finally, you need to master the art of surrender to love -- and Kingma explains how this involves letting go of your preconceptions about what love is and isn't at the same time as you leap into the unknown with a sense of gratitude and appreciation for the paradox of love.

Kingma is a master at helping us unconditionally love ourselves at the same time as we learn to trust spirit and love -- even when our hearts may have been broken so many times before. She shares touching stories that illustrate her points, and offers a glimpse of what love can be, if only we learn to allow it fully into our lives.

This book can change your life forever. I give it my highest recommendation!

Focusing Each Day
As a single mother, it is sometimes hard for me to remember to love those who are most important to me, including myself. I use this book to give each day a theme, to remind myself what is important, and to not forget the little things along the way. Daphne Rose Kingma has written a book that is as much a collection of affirmations as it is a daily hug, and who doesn't need a hug each and every day?

A Beautiful Treasure of a Book
This book is a small treasure - one of the best books I have ever read simply because it speaks to the soul - in language that is simple and inspiring. It is for those who currently are in relationships and also for those who long to be in a loving, intimate relationship with either another person or even one's own self. Even though I am not in a relationship, I find that this book continually inspires me to dream of the possible, the beautiful, the magical. It is one of those books I go back to to every so often to put a new spin on my dreams and relationships and spiritual journey. It is a juicy, energetic, fulfilling work - it has sent ripples through my soul and no doubt has indirectly influenced many others because it's lessons have served as a source of strength and true life affirmation - over and over again.

Soulful
Reading this book kinda scared me. Kingma's ideas can be controversial.

This book gives permission to us not to conform to the social norms, convinces us that it's OK to have "failed" relationships, and tells us that there are more to love than what we are used to know. SOUL LOVE is the ultimate love, according to Kingma. Search within yourself, acknowledge what you really need, believe in the agenda of the soul, and you'll see the way.

This is a good book to help us console ourselves.

On the other hand, this book also challenges what most people believe in - social norms and expectations that seem to put things in order. It belittles the importance of marriage institute and underestimates the virtue of shouldering responsibilities. The way I see it, if the soul is too busy trying to grow it may neglect the needs of the family. I am a bit skeptical with her confidence with her "love prophecies".

The book is well written, with sufficient examples to illustrate the ideas. Some sentences are too similar to those found in Conversation With God, though.

All in all, there are some good points well elaborated in this book. Take them. At the same time, be cautious to some of the dangerous, crazy ideas. Oh! I might be traditional! ;-)

The Power of Love
This book has profound insight and brilliance on every page. Your eyes will be opened to the higher power of relationships that Kingma shows is very real, and very possible. It is an essential book for anyone who has been in a relationship. A definite must read!

Understanding the "purpose" of LOVE is the key to bliss
What a book this has been, and the timing has been impecable for when it fell into my hands. Daphne, thanx for the clear message on the purpose of our relationships, and how to change our perspective to see their value.

By seeing my relationship through a new set of "spiritual" eyes, tense "moments" are now seen as spiritual grouth oppertunities and are not emotionaly shattering.

In my view, every person on this planet could find value in this book, and it could make relationships MUCH easier than our traditional way of thinking.

Profound, and extremely powerful book indeed.
