I Couldn't Put This Book Down!
I picked up this book at my library on a lark. I've always been interested in what really happened to Amelia Earhart, but always just assumed that her plane crashed into the ocean. This book, however, completely opened my eyes to a new hypothosis: that Amelia and her navigator managed to land on an island and send out radio signals for help. The information presented in this book isn't just wild guesses and conspiracy theories - the authors make a point of backing up their thoughts with cold, hard evidence. I was hooked from the first page and got so engrossed that I ended up not doing my work at my job just so that I could finish a few more chapters. The book also has a wicked sense of humor and debunks the myth that scientists are just stodgy old guys. I'd reccomend this book to anyone with even an ounce of curosity. I'm holding my breath until Dr. Tom King and the other authors put out another book on Amelia. I can't wait to see what they find!

Fascinating, based on evidence
I had the opportunity to meet the primary author of this book (Tom King) recently and was impressed with his fact-based approach to the Earhart mystery. This book describes the search for artifacts from Earhart's last flight. The book presents evidence, analyzes its value and develops a hypothesis concerning the events of July, 1937. The author is primarily a archeologist, and while no "[fool]-proof" evidence is presented, what is known is presented and explained in scientific, but easy to read prose. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. My only nits with it are the reproductions of many of the photographs are poor, however, they can all be found at the TIGHAR web site.

A great read!
A visual treat for armchair travelers, this book takes you on the exciting and sometimes frustrating search for the answer to the Amelia Earhart question. Thoroughly researched and well edited, the story does not slow down for the facts. Highly recommeded.

A wonderful book of codes to live by for modern day warriors
This is a terrific book! It's a slim volume, only about 100 pages, but chock-full of wisdom from ancient Chinese leaders and kings. It's amazing to read through this book and see how much is still pertinent in today's world, especially the business world. There are principles from six classic sources: Master Wei Lao; The Book of Three Strategies; The Book of Six Strategies; The Warrior Code of the Cavaliers; Wu Qi's Art of War, Sun Tzu's Art of War.

Topics covered include everything from warfare to statesmanship, governance to strategy, leadership and teamwork. Each writer has their own section, and there is a long table of contents in the beginning which lists each piece in the order in which they are presented. This book would make a great gift for any student of strategy, be they businessperson or merely scholar.

The benefits of King's insider information
King's new book on the Section 106 process is a slim but lively and provocative compilation based on his various workshops and training sessions on the evaluation of historic places for listing on the Natinal Register. King's vast years of experience and easy-flowing writing style make this a useful and enjoyable book for those who want to learn about the specifics of the 106 process. Contains details on subtle nuances and meanings of historic property evaluation and use of the process. This book is a must have for students of cultural resources, consulting archaeologists and others in the historic preservation fields.

not quite what i thought it should be..
what did god say not man?? do i have my answers? no. sorry.

I agree about this book being prejudiced!
So much caution needs to be exercised if this book is used as a resource, because of the subtle distortions of truth. After studying the issue of different bible versions for many years, I am now understanding how important it is to meditate upon the precise words God would have His children to remember. If this dictionary is not studied with discernment, it will have the effect of causing a person to have doubts about the integrity of the King James Bible. To give a balanced viewpoint of understanding the language used in the King James Version, I HIGHLY recommend a better dictionary with MANY more "archaic" words in it. It is written by Laurence M. Vance and is titled, "Archaic Words and the King James Bible." Amazon.com sells this book. ....

Supplement with The Complete Guide to the Book of Proverbs.
This is a reprint of The Bible Word Book originally written in 1960. It gives interesting background on many Old English words and points out the many bloopers in the King James translation. Most famous of these is the "unicorn" which occurs 9 times and which is properly corrected to "wild ox" in modern versions. If you would like to compare the KJV to 5 contemporary versions, read THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO THE BOOK OF PROVERBS by Cody Jones. Besides an in-depth commentary, it features 6 translations of Proverbs side-by-side: New King James (1982), New Revised Standard (1990), New Century (1991), New International Version (1983), King James (1611) and New Living Translation (1996).
